Amazing.

Really good job.

The whole oil rig scenario is of course, a classic Superman save situation, but it also could be much more. It could be a comment on the Gulf oil disaster, and if it is, if Superman gets in the faces of the oil company executives, then it will also echo a story from Action Comics (original series) #3, the miner story where Superman does not appear in costume and puts the greedy owner of the mine who didn't care about the safety of his workers in his place. If this sequence echos that story, then it will a great tie in to the current Grant Morrison Action Comics and also a clear message that this Superman is not an establishment stooge, that he puts the common man first. And that would be fantastic.

That sounds really cool.

:awesome: I'm actually hoping that's how the scene plays out.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Some in Hollywood have been lamenting that there aren't any action stars younger than 45 anymore. Taking a look at Cavill, and I know it is far too early to be certain, but he may be the next action star. He certainly has the look, and from these pictures, the presence.

Would still like him to pick a rom/com after MOS, for a change, but he could make a good, if not very good living off of action films.

Some more pics from Mail online.

Some great development in the shoulders and chest from what he looked like in "The Immortals". His chest filled out and he has a very well developed back which gives him that "V" look to his back.

He looks like Steve Reeves in his prime.

Oddly enough, I always thought Steve would have made an awesome Superman back in the day!

Hmmm.

Snyder disrespects canon and all True Fans™ by ditching the iconic trunks.

Snyder respects canon and all True Fans™ by giving us an impressive, true-to-the-comics Superman physique.

I’m confused. :cwink:

He looks magnificent but I think he's got a wee bit to go to match Steve Reeves in his prime. That's no crime though. :)
And I agree that he would have made an awesome Superman but back then he had a thriving if not exactly high quality movie career while TV was seen as the dregs.
Stick a cape on his back and he's present day comic book Superman :)

Yeah, this is going to be pretty awesome.

Since the pictures shown Cavill bearded, it probably means that this happened when he was
in his self-imposed exile to Alaska after his parents' tragic incident.

Man looks great, but there's something to be said about the look of "dense" muscles during principal photography.

activated muscles

He looks dense (in comparison to other actors) in both shots. His muscles have a hardness I think other superhero actors are lacking. Jackman has similar density. The only difference between the two shots is a good pump and some moisture on the skin. Naturally, those things improve the appearance of hardness and definition, but he looks denser than most in both shots.

Exactly... it looks more real, more masculine if that makes sense.

Like Evans and Hemsworth kind of look airbrushed (I know they aren't), or like their posing for underwear adverts or something... whereas Cavill looks like he's just come back from wrestling a bear or something :D

Dude, Henry puts my body to shame. I've got a six-pack, big chest, traps, biceps, massive back, etc but he's so shredded and heroic-looking.

He makes me appear like a bio freak. :(

With all the Jackman talk and now wrestling bears it sounds like you guys are reacting to the hair. Whereas the bare ass look get's an airbrush like response.

Either way what I was referring to specifically was the activation and no so much the pump. Either way he looks great. Actually reminds me of BirthRight.

Of course the hair helps, but it's more than that for me. I mean, if you shaved the guy's chest and beard I'd still be saying he looked more manly, his muscles more natural.
