Henry Cavill IS Superman: - Part 7

With all the Jackman talk and now wrestling bears it sounds like you guys are reacting to the hair. Whereas the bare ass look get's an airbrush like response.

Either way what I was referring to specifically was the activation and no so much the pump. Either way he looks great. Actually reminds me of BirthRight.

I was talking about the shape and hardness of his muscle, nothing about hair.

Evans was pretty big, but at the same time he had a squishy look to him. Cavill has that hard, Hugh Jackman look. Really though, I'm just glad actors are dedicated to these superheroes to pack on size.

In an interview several years ago Alex Ross said something like "We want these mythical superheroes but we don't cast actors of mythical proportions." I'm betting he'd change his tune now, after Thor, Cap and now Superman.

The whole oil rig scenario is of course, a classic Superman save situation, but it also could be much more. It could be a comment on the Gulf oil disaster, and if it is, if Superman gets in the faces of the oil company executives, then it will also echo a story from Action Comics (original series) #3, the miner story where Superman does not appear in costume and puts the greedy owner of the mine who didn't care about the safety of his workers in his place. If this sequence echos that story, then it will a great tie in to the current Grant Morrison Action Comics and also a clear message that this Superman is not an establishment stooge, that he puts the common man first. And that would be fantastic.

While I don't agree with your earlier comments about the new costume, I'm definitely on board with what you're saying here. Especially given the current class structure in the U.S. and worldwide, I like the idea of Superman really standing up against corporate greed.

He's just showing off for the cameras now.

I wonder if that necklace has any significance to the story? Maybe it's important to Clark?

Ive seen some of the older comics and I dont think itd be out of character if Superman gave these oil execs super wedgies for being ruthless, money grubbing bastards.

It wouldn't be out of character for Superman in Grant Morrison's ACTION COMICS run either.

Yeah, dropping that dude from 30 stories or whatever and he cant even fly yet.

Yep, and that kind of stuff can break the "Big Blue Boy Scout" reputation.

Lord knows on what would happen around here now if they had Henry do a certain trademark "Terminator" scene in this film as Clark in that shape that involves..not having clothes on.haha

Ok, I am just throwing this out there and wondering what you guys think. Henry looks good as Superman, no doubt. But does anyone think the hair looks weird, like he might need a curl over his forehead, and that they decided not to straighten his hair but instead are slicking it back while it is curly which gives it that slightly big look to it?

I mean at first I did, but I think it's cause I was used to the slick straight look from Cr and Br, but I do see what your saying, I guess cause I haven't really seen it in motion to really form an opinion, they're just pics right now from different angles

Any fans over in the UK? Pic up The Sun, we have another Henry Cavill mention :D

Sorry it's not great quality, I'll try and take a better one later:

I have no problem with it at all. I actually prefer it this way. I grew up with the Post-Crisis comics so I've always imagined Superman with having slightly curly/wavy hair. Cavill's hair just looks perfect and natural for Superman to me. I hope we see the S curl because I think it would look natural and good given Cavill's hair type. Reeve's and Routh's hair have always looked unnatural to me. So I guess I feel the opposite to you.

okay, that's a little bit pushing it...

He looks magnificent but I think he's got a wee bit to go to match Steve Reeves in his prime. That's no crime though. :)
And I agree that he would have made an awesome Superman but back then he had a thriving if not exactly high quality movie career while TV was seen as the dregs.
Stick a cape on his back and he's present day comic book Superman :)

I appreciate your comments, but I think you mistook me for implying that Cavill's physique rivals Steve Reeves', back when he was in his Mr. Universe prime.

I just meant that with the beard and herculean appearance he looked like Steve in his prime, back when he was known for playing Hercules.

I don't know about anyone else, but I definitely see a resemblance here.

Wow, striking resemblance there. They look damn near identical.

Ok, I see. You are right.

Well, it's obvious now that Cavill has the chance of being the best Superman so far depending on the writing. Too bad about the costume, though.

Thanks man! I thought so too! :)

No worries mate!

And I'm cautiously optimistic about this movie too, but here's hoping it'll be awesome! :)
