Henry Cavill IS Superman: - Part 8

Well the trailer is certainly a so far so good on the accent front

And I admit, that was one of the last things I was worried about for Cavill :)

But why would Clark when he's been brought up in America. I have a mate whose from Scotland but raised in England and he doesn't have a Scottish accent.

I said Clark would have an American accent. To the public, Clark is an American, born and raised.

To the public, Superman is an alien. I think the accents they did for Krypton in the Donner version, very Shakespearian-inspired, could work to make Superman sound different than Clark.

Even Terrence Stamp's Zod and his minions did that accent in Superman II, no one confused them with Brits. It worked.

Bad idea is bad. :o

Yeah, Cavill's accent sounds great and he looks intense in the trailer. I hope the movie is good and gets him a little more notice than Immortals did.

No they didn't but that little country kid sure was a Brit

This reminds me of Nicolas Cage's idea to play Clark with a Southern accent.

This looks like a run of the mill action thriller with no extraordinary qualities. I don't think it'll do better than Immortals.

He actually spoke about how he'd approach the role? As terrible as he would have been, I'd be interested to hear his ideas, just for the fact that he's a genuine fanboy.

Cavill sounds just fine on the American accent front. The movie, not so exciting. Seems like a mix of Abduction and Taken.

It's funny..I've been so prepped towards seeing Cavill play Superman next, that I almost had the thought of having expected him to fly in that last shot of the trailer where he jumped off the building:oldrazz::doh::wow:

That was a decent trailer, but as others have said the film screams Taken and Abduction. The positives are Bruce Willis is still bald, Sigourney Weaver looks good, shirtless Henry Cavill and Henry's pretty good American accent.

LOL and in Immortals he jumped in slow motion too. I would imagine MOS with have similar shots as well.

It would be funny if, in 10 years or so, we'll have a "Henry Cavill Jumping" montage on youtube to go with "Tom Cruise Running" and "Sean Bean Dying."

lol, and we'll all have that montage lead up to his first take off in MOS.lol

I don't know how I'd feel about him having a British accent as Superman, but I would like Superman to present himself as an alien, and when asked what his real name is, just say Kal-El.

hasn't he done that in the past? I know not in Superman The Movie...but others?

I'm not sure. I get the impression that usually, people just know him by Superman and that's it, although they know he's Kryptonian.

One idea I had, at least in the case where he isn't sent a Kryptonian suit to wear, is he knows that he's an alien so he concocts an alien persona in which to be a superhero. Something that might be just a bit hokey, based on what we know of alien civilizations from movies. So if it were to take place in the 30s, Clark would essentially dress up like a Flash Gordon character, since that's what people back then might expect an alien to look like.

aliens= little grey men with slits for mouths, little holes for ears and big almond shaped eyes.

But I see what you're saying...I guess it could make sense. I'm very curious as to see where his suit comes from. I'm pretty sure Martha didn't whip it up after church one Sunday

The only places I can imagine the suit coming from are the Fortress or Zod.

even though the story that was leaked a while back has been confirmed to be false, Jor-El could honestly stash it away in the ship hoping that his son could possibly one day wear it...just a thought. But I think it would have to come from the Fortress

I always have to pronounce his name as "SCENE BEAN" when I say his name, IDK why.

Personally, I would like it if Jor-El put the suit in the ship with Kal-El. And as for how Clark gets to Earth, I always thought the ship would be on some sort of auto-pilot system looking for planets fit for Kryptonian life. But then that may open up a whole can of plot holes.

In the New 52 Brainiac is part of the ship and he brings Kal-El to Earth

Agree, but a full fledged adult suit. If Jor-El is this great visionary, he should be able to understand that his son needs to go through life and find himself before getting the Kryptonian honor of wearing the suit.

I feel that Ma Kent will give him the suit sometime after the Oil Rig disaster, she was keeping it a secret from him all these years, and he finally earned it by understanding his abilities and figuring out who he truly is.

Just a guess of-course :)

There were still plenty of human-looking aliens back then.

I know...I'm an alien enthusiast, I was just being a smartass
