Henry Cavill IS Superman: - Part 8

Just watched the trailer. Cavill sounds convincing with an American accent even in the emotionally charged scenes.

Film doesn't look too bad either. Surprised I hadn't heard of it before.

I was expecting it to look kind of dull if I'm honest, the description was just kind of 'meh' and we had absolutely no info beyond that and a few set pics.

But I gotta say, I am a little buzzed.

Of course, now I have the same dilemma I had with Immortals.

To go and see it at the cinema, this is what I have to do:

1hr30mins on a bus - £3.50
15 mins in a taxi - £10.00
2hr (approx) film - £10.00
15 mins in a taxi - £10.00
1hr30mins on a bus - £3.50

5 1/2hrs of my day - £37.00

And that's not including any food or drink!

I did it for Immortals... Can I justify spending that much on a film just cause Cavill is in it again?

...

Probably :p

I always have to pronounce his name as "SCENE BEAN" when I say his name, IDK why.

OMG!! I thought my two cousins, my best friend and I were the only people who did that!:awesome::awesome::awesome:

LOL, yeah... Cavill manages not to grow a different accent whenever he yells, unlike some actors **cough**Worthington**cough**.

Did anyone see Roeper's review of Man on a Ledge? Its was pretty funny. "Sam Worthington plays a New York cop who must have spent a lot of time in Australia..." :woot:

That's a lot of time and money to use up in one go...
You need a friend with a car and the same tastes as you, problem solved.
:cwink:

I have 7 friends with cars, none of which will come all that way to see a movie like 'Cold Light of Day' with me.

Basically, there is a little cinema in town that plays 3 movies at a time, and it usually gets blockbusters and kids movies because it's on a holiday resort (we're a seaside town).

Like right now they are playing Sherlock Holmes, Mission Impossible and Puss in Boots.

That's good enough for most of my friends.

No one has even heard of Cold Light of Day, and if it weren't for Cavill, I know I wouldn't bother to trek over 20 miles to see it... So I don't blame them :hehe:

I dunno, I'll make up my mind nearer the time. See if there's anyone I can bribe... They can go watch something else If they want!

The film was mentioned in an August 2010 article in Variety. It was supposed to go into production in September of that year and (presumably) be released in 2011. Seems like it may have been in the can (as they say) for some time – which isn’t a good sign. Unless it earns rave reviews, it might be a movie to check out on home video. Save the £££. :cwink:

That's crazy, I was wondering what part of England you were in that it takes so long to get to a cinema!

:hehe:

Little seaside town called Minehead. Mostly known for having a Butlins, and for being next to Exmoor (one of the best places in the world for being able to see the stars apparently!).

Like I said, the Butlins has a little cinema that they let locals onto site to go to. But it only shows blockbusters and kids movies (because they are appealing to the familes that stay at Butlins obviously :))

Nearest town to us - Taunton, which is 24.7 miles of windey country roads. By car it only takes 45mins. By bus, having to go round every little village? It's a bloody nightmare :(

*sigh* The things I think about doing for Henry Cavill :p

:awesome: Yeah, that's the city i'm moving too as soon as the bank clears me for this damn loan! :D

Then i'll be able to go to the cinema any time I want! :wow:

Dude needs to learn to walk without looking like he can't put his arms in his pocket.

Exactly what I was thinking and this has been the only thing bothering me about some of these paparazzi shots. It's only in certain pictures though. He has a "tough-guy" swagger sometimes - chest wayy out, elbows pointing up. It doesn't really fit his style and I hope he eventually stops walking like that.

His relaxed walk is way more natural looking.

I said Clark would have an American accent. To the public, Clark is an American, born and raised.

To the public, Superman is an alien. I think the accents they did for Krypton in the Donner version, very Shakespearian-inspired, could work to make Superman sound different than Clark.

Even Terrence Stamp's Zod and his minions did that accent in Superman II, no one confused them with Brits. It worked.

Awful idea, just would be stupid

Just saw this on Henry Cavill's fanpage on facebook...

All I can say is, wow, I have a new found respect for the guy... I mean, i'd find situations like that awkward as hell, but he is just so cool about it all, even right at the end he's still laughing and joking with them.

If you have the patience, watch it all. Really gives you a good impression of him IMO :)

How about...

Farmboy Clark has a Southern accent...

Metropolis Clark has a New York accent...

Kal-El (in the Fortress of Solitude) speaks with an English accent...

And Superman speaks with a variety of different accents in order to show that he's a man of the world and cares about all nationalities. When he makes public speeches, he speaks in a Spanish accent. When he's fighting criminals, he speaks in a Canadian accent. When he's flirting with Lois, he speaks in a Russian accent. When he's fetching a cat out of a tree, he speaks in a Jamaican accent. When he's saving a plane from crashing, he speaks in a Wisconsin accent. The possibilities are endless!

Those chicks are so giddy (but glad they're not screaming like lunatics like at the Twilight premieres), but it's true. Seems like a really nice guy.

Ha. Not sure Wisconsin is a nation though...

Seems like a really nice, top and stand up guy! Props to him.

Cavill's accent shows quite a few times in the trailer. I really hope he's worked on it more since and it doesn't show as much in Man of Steel. It's distracting and takes me completely out of the experience.

We already knew he could do an American accent fine though (Blood Creek).
not when he yells. When he yells, his british accents creeps through.
Just some lines from Immortals, his real accents comes through: "Seal the Gates, and prepare for woooorr".

Just like Andrew Garfield, just watch The Social Network, during the scene when he is talking about the "Chicken Story".

I agree. I noticed it slipped a couple times in the beginning. I think his American accent is good enough for MOS.
