not when he yells. When he yells, his british accents creeps through.
Just some lines from Immortals, his real accents comes through: "Seal the Gates, and prepare for woooorr".

Just like Andrew Garfield, just watch The Social Network, during the scene when he is talking about the "Chicken Story".

I don't think he was hiding his accent in Immortals.

He was using his natural accent that whole movie. You just must have noticed it more when he was yelling.

Exactly what I was thinking and this has been the only thing bothering me about some of these paparazzi shots. It's only in certain pictures though. He has a "tough-guy" swagger sometimes - chest wayy out, elbows pointing up. It doesn't really fit his style and I hope he eventually stops walking like that.

His relaxed walk is way more natural looking.

Looks like Chris Reeves right there.

Why does Director still think Cavill was using an American accent in Immortals?

Because all ancient Greeks had American accents. Did you learn nothing in World History class?

Just saw this on Henry Cavill's fanpage on facebook...

All I can say is, wow, I have a new found respect for the guy... I mean, i'd find situations like that awkward as hell, but he is just so cool about it all, even right at the end he's still laughing and joking with them.

If you have the patience, watch it all. Really gives you a good impression of him IMO :)

I generally hate these paparazzi videos because they usually feel so intrusive to the point of making me cringe, but that was totally pain-free to watch. He's so relaxed and friendly there.

I love that one person suggested he probably won't be doing this anymore once MoS comes out and he's all, "Who says I won't?!"

Wow he truly is Superman. Nice, funny, courteous, patient, charming.

Yeah, I loved that too :)

If I have ANY success in trying to be a Journalist, I hope one day I get to interview him for a Brit magazine like SFX or Dreamwatch.

I'd just love to actually see what he's like in person first hand, but I NEVER wanna be one of those screaming giddy girls :hehe:

That kind of behaviour is only allowed where he can't see me :p

It's very refreshing to watch something like that. Most 'celebs' get bustled out of clubs by minders and bodyguards and shoved into a waiting car without paying any attention to their fans.

Cavill stops for ages, signs autographs, takes pics, chats with them and as he's about to leave at the end, he even asks the fans to walk along with him as the paps take photos so they can see what it's like with all the flashes going off. Then he danders off home along the street on his own!

'Superman' actors have a good history of being leading men who have kept fairly good profiles and been known as ambassadors for what Superman represents. Generally nice guys who haven't messed around with drink/drugs/scandals/etc (Reeve, Routh, Welling, even Cain) ............ from what we've seen so far, it looks like Cavill will continue the tradition.

no, he wasn't using his real accent in the movie. Have you seen his interviews???

So, you are saying a movie set in Greek mythology, the main character of the movie (Henry Cavill) is speaking with a british accent through the whole movie??????????

Have you actually seen the film? From watching it you can tell Henry's accent is pretty much his own English one. Pretty much everyone in that movie speaks with their own accents and why do u find it so shocking that people wouldn't use a greek accent have you seen 300?

Now on your point when he does shout you can hear his English accent but its no major deal at the end of the day.

yes, i have seen the movie, and no he does NOT speak his full BRITISH accent in the movie

So he filmed Immortals in a 'bit of an English accent'?

Erm yes he pretty much does and its an ENGLISH accent there's no such thing as a British accent.

Oh WHATEVER!! You know good and well you would be all prim and proper when you first meet him, then something just wells up inside of you, to the point where you can't take it anymore. Then all of a sudden you start blushing because your blood pressure is rising, until finally....BAM....you squeal like a little school girl. Then you will begin to speak gibberish and mixed in that gibberish you will say "EH MA GAWD you are so HAWT....Will you marry me?" I guarantee it, you are actually going to propose to the man. :hehe:

That is a fantastic video and shows (I hope) the true nature of the man. Really refreshing to see someone so humble and caring of their fans.

This makes me believe even more that this generation are going to get their own "Christopher Reeve" type of Superman, as he was similarly humble and grateful for his opportunity to play the Man of Steel.

Erm yes he pretty much does and its an ENGLISH accent there's no such thing as a British accent.

I tend to give people some leniency on not knowing what to call various languages or accents.

Keep in mind that most people cannot tell accents from other nations regions, OR even have the ability to properly categorize them.

Saying a British accent is just as incorrect as saying an "American" accent, as there really is no specific American accent, that is far too vague. There are a ton of different accents in the USA as well, depending on the area.

Both would have some trouble telling the various German accents, which all sound the same to us, but to Germans they could easily tell you what region someone is from. We might say a "German accent", and technically in their language they don’t even call it "German."

So likewise most Americans, depending on where you go, could not tell the regional differences with English accents, even though to you it would be easy.

Here a Upper West coast, Southern West coast, Midwest, Southern mid-west, even East coast, upper East coast, and even fairly consistent differences with non-white racial groups. Accents all sound very different.

Superman would have a particularly Midwestern accent, without what Northerners call the "Southern drawl". Technically he could have some of it, as people in Kansas vary from sounding like they are from Minnesota while some sound like they are from Texas.

Remember, however, that Britain comprises of four nations. It's not just a question of English accents, but Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish accents. Which are all quite substantially different, to my ear anyway.

Agreed, they're totally different. To the point that some English people can't understand us, or the Scottish accents, etc.

I think the generic 'accent' most people identify with England is the slightly elevated Hugh Grant type accent. In reality, most of them don't talk like that.

When I think of an American accent, I probably think of something like George Bush's - but that's a bit of a texas drawl and again not indicative of how most of them speak.

What does a Kanas accent sound like?

To be fair I don't think the avereage American really knows the UK is made up of four nations and thats not meant to be a insult or anything.

Alot of Americans get Scottish and Irish people confused and if you showed them a map they would probalby think Scotland is where Northen Ireland is.

There are British people that don't even know the island is actually called Britain

Even I can tell the difference between alot of accents even if I have never been to the country.

I can tell the difference between various Scottish or Irish accents even though I have never been to either although I probably couldn't pinpoint exactly where on a map the accent comes from I could notice the differebce between one another.

No, he wasn't speaking with an ENGLISH accent in the movie, can somebody chime in here who saw the movie. His accent in the movie is completely different from his thick English accent in his interviews.

OH, AND "ERM" IS NOT A WORD IN THE ENGLISH DICTIONARY, UNLESS YOU MEAN "Exchange Rate Mechanism"

Are you talking about Immortals? because that was Henry Cavills own accent.
