The Dark Knight Rises How Pissed Would You Be?

i'm of the opinion that the joker and the riddler are too similar as characters to cast him as the villain

I wouldn't be angry ate all. The riddler is my least favorite of all characters in batman(excluding killer moth). He is too old fashioned, never after anything too important, and only cares about making little bit of profit. In general I think he is too campy and given too much credit(especially on these threads).

If you have ever seen the show most evil you will know that he is not a very scary or interesting character(he's not much of a killer).

Interesting unused characters include Anarky, Bane, Black Mask, Catwoman, Clayface, Harley quinn, Hugo Strange, Hush, Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the ventriloquist.

The question should be...

Why waste the screen with riddler or penguin?

I think Riddler is a poor villain
so I wouldnt be pissed at all

I wouldn't go as far to say he's a poor villain, but I'm not a big fan either, so I wouldn't be fazed. In Fact, I might even be happy.

I'd be really ticked. I think Nolan could make the Riddler better than he's ever been.

Altho Riddler is one of the more "popular" villains (thanks to Jim C~), I would be fine if Riddler wasnt the villain in Bat3. If he was, i would be pissed if it isnt Johnny Depp....

Agreed. While it would be great to see the Riddler in Batman 3, it's just that the way the Joker was handled in TDK will just make the Riddler feel as if they were rehashing the story simply with a different villain behind the charades.

I personally would love to see Nolan's version of Mad Hatter take center stage and be the bad guy. Like, what if they took the plot line from the comics where the Mad Hatter decided to take over Gotham from inside the government and make Gotham his own personal wonderland. That could make some very intriguing cinema, not to mention Nolan's take on the Mad Hatter would probably be pretty sick and twisted.

If any one here is honest they would admit batmans most interesting foes are quite small in number in relation to the huge amount of them.

joker, ras, bane, two face, and deadshot are all interesting characters. riddler, penguin, and many others are given too much cred.

Disagree.

I'd take Penguin and Riddler any day over the likes of Bane and Deadshot.

O my. . . A fan of the penguin. I have never really liked the penguin(cept for burtons penguin, and he was campy still), I always found him extremely campy. I don't see that he poses that much of a threat either.

Personally I would not like to see riddler. He's just too annoying. His stories have never really affected batman that much(hush the comic was ok).

Bane has always been a direct threat to batman(i like his concept as well).

Deadshot is just an interesting character, in some interpretations, in others he is lame. The second best assassin in the DCU and he's suicidal. He's definitely not a main antagonist though.

Personally I don't think many characters could match joker and I really don't think riddler could.

Well, a few reading suggestions for you:

- Batman #257, 448, 449, 548, 549,
- Detective Comics # 568, 610, 611, 615, 1st Annual
- Secret Origins Special #1
- His issue in Joker's Asylum

The Penguin is very much a deadly threat, likes to play mind games with Batman, has an extremely obsessive personality, and is a cold blooded killer.

Don't let the last 10-12 years colour your judgement, where they turned him into a mob boss type who owns a casino. Huge disservice to the character there.

Personally I would not like to see riddler. He's just too annoying. His stories have never really affected batman that much(hush the comic was ok).

Only a handful of villains have affected Batman alot. Deadshot certainly hasn't. Interesting villains are what we want, right?

Bane has always been a direct threat to batman(i like his concept as well).

I think Bane is overrated.

He broke Batman. How did he do that? He broke all the villains out of Arkham, and watched Batman wear himself out dealing with them. Only when Batman was ready to fall did he tackle Batman. I don't find that impressive. With the state Batman was in at the end of Knightfall, the Mad Hatter could have beaten him up.

Personally I don't think many characters could match joker and I really don't think riddler could.

Why does the villain have to match the Joker? Nobody can match the Joker. He's in a league all of his own, IMO. But there's still plenty of great villains.

They don't have to be on the level of the Joker. He's a tough act to follow.

Thats one of the reason I dont want the Riddler.
Ppl keep trying to
A) Make him a Joker copy/match
B) Make him John Doe from Se7en
C) Make him the killer from Zodiac

Why base a villain off another movie villain where you have other villains who are just there and dont have to be altered into something there not

Thank you for the reading suggestions. I will be sure to pick up if not owned.

I love 7, but riddler isn't much of a killer.

Somebody mentioned once the idea of bringing the Riddler in as a police ally to help track down Batman...I think that would be an interesting take on it, as he grows more and more obsessed with catching him. Throw in the Penguin as the new crime lord of Gotham, and maybe Catwoman for a love interest, and brutha, you got a stew going.

Also, I think the suggestion of Sascha Baron Cohen as the Riddler is inspired.

What i dont want is these characters to be so watered down from thier original concept that they are unrecognisable except for thier names.

What you gotta try to do is adapt all of the characters to the real world, and then try to see how compatible they are with nolan's universe.

Think it should be the Riddler and the Penguin but as seperate villains. No team ups. I want the Riddler to be his political foe calling on Gotham to question who Batman is and that a vigilante can't be allowed as the Riddler develops an obsession with Bats. As for Penguin he would be an arms dealer for the mob. Perhaps used to trip Falcone from prison and in doing so he Penguin becomes the new mob boss. Which would be more of Bats physical foe with his mob.

The Riddler should not be a primary villain but more of how Scarecrow was in BB.

i wouldn't be mad if the riddler wasn't in the movie, like everyone said. however, i'd like to see two villains in the next movie, just not working together. the riddler/penguin combo would be cool but so would riddler/poison ivy.

anyone but catwoman. not a fan of catwoman.

I'll be happy as long as whoever he introduces into the story has proper resolution.

Make the movie as open ended as he wants for other directors to come in.

But give the story he has done a proper ending.

I'd be happy.

as long as its good i really don't care. If they had killer moth as the main bad guy and it was TDK+ shawshank redememption with a side of LOTR, and a few Star wars than I would be ok.

I like that. But the first person to say Johnny Depp should be slapped across the face with a fish.

A really big fish.
