It seems too much like those fancasts that always get mentioned and too off from the strange, unexpected castings WB has been pulling so far, to believe it.

Whether the Chris Pine rumors are true or not, I do remember watching 2009 Trek and thinking hmmm - Father dies crashing ship, some debate as to heroics vs at fault. ...kid loses role model and need to reach for the stars "compass" in life, becomes rebellious, nothing to lose nothing to fear thrill seeking, no purpose, drifter.
...Needs to belong to something bigger, or he will self destruct.

Enter: ...opportunity to join the best, someone who recognizes he can use that cocky (free-willed- fearless, make the rules as I go) attitude for something better, something bigger, to the stars and beyond! ...just don't F it up.

The whole time I was thinking this Chris Pine character is Jordan, same setup (story arc). How did the GL movie get it so wrong! And the Trek guys get it so right?

I don't think it was just the actor, I think it was the writing. (and that horribly creepy exposed muscle tissue looking cg suit didn't help)
But I can see why potentially swapping actors here, whether it's the studio or fan wish , might be people yearning in a way to connect to the much better written "Hal Jordan".
Don't know if just switching to Chris Pine, will be any kind of solution though? He really has to be written right first!

    -

I wasn't a huge fan of into Darkness, but again where GL writers missed completely, this scene perfectly illustrates how others should see Jordan's "cocky (free-willed- fearless, make the rules as I go) attitude" , and why he's sympathetic in always out to prove them wrong.

The first scene works too, but mostly @ about 1:45

It also depresses me to think how much more GL cost compared to Star Trek '09 ($200M > $150M) yet it still looks much worse.

They missed a big opportunity not casting Chris Pine as Hal.

Who's to say they won't cast him? The rumormill is still going on in full force. If you were talking about not casting him in the original movie, yeah, but the outcome was still going to be the same. That movie was going to be a disaster with or without Pine.

Good point there. Considering the direction they were heading with the original back then, I'm sort of glad they didn't cast Pine. Dodged a bullet if you ask me.

I will never for the life of me, get the Pine love. And I like the new Trek films... I just feel he is the weakest link in that cast actually. He feels very bland as an actor. There's not much there, THERE, for my tastes. He'd be to Hal what he currently is to Kirk in Trek... Serviceable.

Women and Sawyer would lick his tears though. :oldrazz:

After the last GL fiasco, I think this character will need a recognizable face. I'm not saying Pine is the right choice, but I can see why WB would be interested. He was pretty good in the 'Woods' movie with Depp and co.

that's a shame you guys aren't Pine fans... i genuinely think he's the best possible choice for Hal Jordan. He was my first pick back before Reynolds was cast too. I really hope he's cast.

I think Pine's best when he's playing more outlandish characters like in Smokin' Aces and Into the Woods, but I do think he's makes for a pretty charismatic Kirk. I wouldn't mind him as Hal, but he kinda feels like a "been there, done that" choice since Hal is basically DC's Kirk.

    Yeah, this.

I mean, I wouldn't hate the choice, KRYPTON INC. actually put it perfectly - he is serviceable, and there are definitely much worse actors for this role (recently cast in DCCU, Scott Eastwood, for example), but I think there are much better and more interesting choices out there.

Pine has that it factor Cruise always had, Pitt has, Denzel, and a few others. Even if they aren't playing dramatically different roles, you just enjoy their acting style.

I think Pine would be a solid choice as Hal Jordan...especially if Cooper or Gyllenhaal can't be had as Hal/GL.

Pine as Hal Jordan with someone like Terry Crews as John Stewart....would work because their would be some humorous banter/comedic elements attached without a doubt.

That doesn't sound good. Not eager to see either of them in either role

Much rather see Crews as Stewart than Common or Tyrese that is for damn sure!

This should add to the Pine-as-Hal rumors: Star Trek-GL crossover.

I'm starting to believe Scott Eastwood is Hal Jordan/GL. The report said the role in SS is a smaller role and he is signed for 3 films currently. The report also said WB's sees him as an up and coming star.

In SS, Hal could be basically introduced in that smaller role and than he would come in to play in JL1 and JL2.

Between JL films WB's can always decide to sign him to the GL Corp film due in what 2019 or 2020? By the time 2019/2020 come around, Eastwood should be more well known without a doubt.

If Eastwood is not Trevor...he is Hal IMO. He freakin looks like Hal also!

Scott Eastwood seems like a decent enough casting choice and this is an interesting speculation, but introduce Hal in SS? Even if he only makes a cameo appearances initially, he should be showcased in the biggest movies, not an experimental movie with villains and anti-heroes. Also, if they do introduce Hal Jordan I think they would go for a bigger name this time. They would want a somewhat more bankable actor for this role. But hey, cool speculation nonetheless, I hadn't really thought about that.

Than what other role would Eastwood be signed up for 3 films besides Trevor or Hal? I see him more as a hero than a villain character thats for sure.

still hoping that Chris Pine is the one that gets to play Hal

other rumors also seem to suggest that Scott Eastwood could be playing Dick Grayson/Nightwing

Can I be honest with you all? I liked the Green Lantern film. In fact, at first, I was kind of torn whether he was my new favourite superhero because of it. It turned out that he wasn't but I still enjoyed the film.
