Arrow continues with the Hal teasing...



They said they cant' use the character because of the movie universe. Why do they keep teasing him?

 

This might be a stretch, but on Superman:TAS, Green Lantern was an amalgamated character. He was Kyle Rayner, but with many elements of Hal Jordan's origin. Even if Hal and/or John are locks for the DCCU, Arrow might introduce tweaked versions of Alan, Guy, or Kyle as a Ferris Air pilot.

 

Imagine an Alan Scott GL on Earth 2 with Jay Garrick!

That alone would be enough for me. I don't need to see the GLC in the CWverse since we're getting that in the movies.

 

Oh, we won't see the GLC on the CW verse, that's obvious. But I really wouldn't mind a pre-GL Hal Jordan. I just don't understand why they keep teasing him if he is off limits. Like Lantern Venom mentioned, we may see someone else, but I don't understand these restrictions. If the Green Lantern franchise and its major players are off limits, how can they be allowed to use important elements from it? Wouldn't Coast City, Ferris Air or anything connected to Hal be off limits as well?

 

Arrow can't use Hal Jordan because he's not a Batman character.

Um hello, this is a "Hal Jordan" thread? Makes perfect sense for appearances like that to be acknowledged here as well. As for the spoiler tag, I already explained where I stand on it. If you think it's not right for something to be discussed on forums right after it aired, then I simply recommend you to stay off the internet until later on. You guys are such a buzz kill.

 

You're in the wrong here. I'm not even all that mad, because I've kind of been expecting something like that on the show, but still. Grow up, stop deflecting and put up a spoiler tag when it's not a thread that directly corresponds to Arrow. It's not rocket science.

 

You're not even in the right forum for this, so the whole "stay off the internet" thing holds no weight when they could be avoiding spoilers and lo and behold, spoilers for a show whose premiere finished not even a half hour after you posted that. It's a dick move.

 

Spoiler tags are the internet version of manners - You don't have to use them, but you do to show others you respect them. It's a courtesy.

If you're not gonna be courteous to your fellow posters, then I'll do it for you.

 

"Grow up"? What the hell did I do wrong and what do I have to "grow up" about? This is a thread dedicated to the character of Hal Jordan, it doesn't matter that it isn't part of the Arrow forum. I posted the picture after the episode aired, I did not leak it beforehand. You're right, it's not a rocket science that I didn't do anything wrong here.

 

I didn't disrespect anybody. I posted the picture after the show aired, therefore I didn't feel the need to use spoiler tags. By all means thanks for doing it for me.

 

Like I said, this is a Green Lantern subforum and a Jordan thread, it IS the right forum to post this picture, and again, I can not spoil something for you that has already been aired. Hypothetical: Hal is cast in the Justice League movies. You decide to post the news here half an hour after it becomes public knowledge. Then someone from the Justice League movies subforum comes along and starts giving you a hard time about it. Would that make sense to you?

 

Overall I will be the bigger man here and apologize if I did something wrong. I don't think I did, but according to all of you, I'm in the wrong. So next time I see something like this, I will put a spoiler tag, regardless if I post it shortly after said news become public knowledge. I consider the matter to be over. Cheers.

 

It's not news, it's actual content from the show. And people ask for spoiler tags for the same reason most use spoiler tags for plot details of movies on opening weekend - simply out of respect for the fact that a lot of fans haven't gotten a chance to see it yet. You posted that still even before it had aired in some parts of the U.S., nevermind the people who had to record it to watch later that night or tomorrow. It wasn't "wrong" or against the rules, just inconsiderate. But nice of you to apologize.

 

Oh I see now. Well, I am not from the States and I didn't consider the fact that it might not have been aired in other parts of the US. When it comes to TV shows, the whole East Coast/West Coast airtime is kind of confusing to an Eastern European like myself. It was inconsiderate on my part and now I know where you guys are coming from.

 

Hmm... The suggestion of Matt Damon as an older, vet Hal was made in the BvS threads... I could see it. The interview stuff that was done for THE MARTIAN shows Matt still has the chops to do intense but also fun characters. I wouldn't mind Damon coming on board as Hal.

The final decision will still probably surprise the hell out of us all.

 

Aw, Matt and Ben could live out their superhero fantasies together.

For real though, I'd be totally ok with that, but Damon has a lot more trepidation over taking on superhero roles than Ben does. I doubt he'd consider it. Bourne is his superhero.
