Not arguing the point you made at all. My thing is that really only One out of the 6 league members is a big name actor . That's Ben Affleck. Henry has been in 3 major movies as a lead but he isn't a "name". Ezra has done some amazing work , no argument there . However he isn't a "name" either . Gal was in the Fast and Furious franchise but in an essemble movie she didn't stand out . And Ray Fisher is known for Broadway mostly as far as I know . I'm just saying that Dan who has danced around the the fact that he may or may not be playing GL, as soon as the casting announcement hit he began working out and getting beefed up, and has the look for the character and playing a pilot in the movie , has a shot at being Jordan. Is it likely ? Probably not. I'm just saying you can't count him out because he isn't a known or "name" actor . That's all I'm saying. From looks alone I'd be fine with the guy playing Jordan but I've been slowly on the Krasinski bandwagon as of late and that's probably not ever gonna happen. Is what it is though and I just hope all the respected actors that have been announced knock it out of the park and whoever plays Hal brings their A game and kills it. At the end of the day I'm just a fan speculating

I care more about Jordan/Allen dynamic than Jordan being quite obviously a veteran in GL corps. I think the former is lost if he's old enough to be Miller's Flash's father, while he can still be the most seasoned human Green Lantern even if he's of same age as Stewart and the rest... it's not high school, they didn't become Lanterns at the same time. All that is needed is for the story to make a point that he's the most experienced one, you don't need a visual reminder of it whenever you see him on screen.

    Anyway, my two cents.

Actually, storywise, it would make sense to not have an experienced Hal Jordan as then you'll have to answer questions as to where he was during Zod's invasion. I seriously think they are going the way of Justice League: The Final Frontier where towards the end of Justice League Part 1, he'll get the ring from Abin Sur who will be injured trying to stop Darksied from coming to Earth.

In GLC though, I could see Hal being a Lantern for 4-5 years (though the movie would be only 1 year later) with John a newer recruit.

While I do get your point, we already have experienced Wonder Woman and she was also nowhere to be found during Black Zero event. So they can come up with some excuse for his absence, as they likely will for Wonder Woman's, if they want to.

I believe it was in that big CW special where Johns and Smith alluded to the presence of Guy and Kyle as well as John and Hal.

Ya. I guess you're right. May be it's just a personal thing. They'll already be introducing that concept of heroes hiding in the shadows before MoS. But I guess, for me, they will have that element for Batman, may be for WW and Flash while drawing Aquaman out of the depths. I just feel they'd be forcing us to stretch our suspension of disbelief a bit too much if GL is also doing something else during the attack.

ESPECIALLY, unlike WW, protecting his Sector from galactic threats is practically the ONLY thing on his job description.

That is a good point. It's rather plausible that Diana was in Themyscira and Arthur in Atlantis. Not sure if Barry was the Flash at the time, but anyway, it would be odd to not have him appear given that it's indeed his job to protect a certain sector from extraterrestrial threats. They could always say that he was in another sector and Guardians decided not to tell him about Earth being under attack, but it is a bit of a stretch...

No you don't. By that logic you have to explain why the GLC (Tomar-Re) failed to save Krypton from exploding.

Hal Jordan didn't help Superman because he was busy with Green Lantern ****. John Stewart didn't help Superman because he was still in Basic Training with Kilowog.

Isn't 'Green Lantern ****' protecting the Earth? Especially when the planet is being ******* terraformed by hostile Alien beings?

They can come up with whatever excuse they want. He was still in training, he was in a different space sector, etc. In fact this would give even more merit to the speculation of Hal being a more experienced GL and Stewart a new recruit, because at the time the Zod invasion happened, Hal would've still been the only human Green Lantern who couldn't be in two places at once. It would certainly seem more plausible to me, than having two or more GLs already and noone being there to help stop Zod. But like it was pointed out, Wonder Woman wasn't there and neither was Aquaman, so they can come up with whatever suits their narrative.

If Hal wasn't a GL yet, you could ask the same question about why Abin Sur wasn't there to protect Earth.

So I think it's sort of irrelevant. GL's, like all superheroes in shared universes, are busy sometimes.

Tomar-Re failing to save Krypton is part of comic canon, though and there is a perfectly plausible reason for that.

I'd actually take that reasoning for Hal not being around- him being trapped by, may be Darksied's entourage which would also conveniently make him part of the Justice League story. So, that could work for me.

    :cwink:
I was literally thinking of the same while I was typing my last post. And there is a reason why, in my head, the two are different- Earth IS Hal Jordan's planet! Which, to me, changes the entire dynamic in this affair.

I can actually see the Guardians, who can sometimes be A-holes (Ali Apsa, I'm looking at you) decide that Superman evicted from Earth would not necessarily be a bad thing. By the time they sized the real threat, Superman was already kicking ass. Abin Sur could have gone with the Guardians decision but I don't see that being the case with Hal.

Again, I conceded in the very beginning that they will probably come up with a McGuffin to explain what the Lanterns were doing, I just think it not being Hal makes it easier to explain. Again, that's how I see it. They could always come up with something better I haven't thought of.

You know what else is comic canon? Heroes dealing with global threats on their own when there's a galaxy full of people who could be helping them.

I get what you're saying, but that's just how it is usually when it's a solo title and not a JL issue.

And people will tell you that there are things you get away with on certain mediums and there are certain things that just won't work on certain mediums. This is an excellent example.

Also, you quoted only the first part of my argument- I continued to say that the explanations given in the comic are perfectly fine and I'll be alright if something similar is given in the movie itself.

I think Justice League will feature a scene early on that shows Abin Sur coming to earth to warn us of Darkseid. but on his way, his spacecraft is damaged by Darkseid's pawns and he crash lands on earth. In the final act of the movie, the ring discovers Hal Jordan and he joins the fight against Darkseid

I really like Isaac, but he's going to be busy with Star Wars for the next several years. Don't think he wants to do two space epic franchises.

I feel like Isaac as Hal is the new Chris Pine as Hal. He played a similar character in another space franchise and now everyone wants him to basically just play that character in Green Lantern. It's not a very interesting opportunity for a guy like Isaac, who has show quite a bit of range as an actor over the past decade or so.

Anyway, if WB is intent on casting lesser known actors in its key JL roles, I have a couple suggestions I haven't heard here, or at least not recently.

James Wolk (Mad Men, Zoo). Solid and charismatic actor, has the right look and has displayed some interesting range, particularly on Mad Men. I remember people suggesting him for Superman way back in the day and I could never see it but I think Hal would be a good fit.

Colin Donnell (The Affair, Chicago Med, Arrow). Yeah, I know he was on Arrow. But hey, Amy Adams was on Smallville and more importantly, Donnell regularly upstaged his mediocre costars when he was on the show (particularly Amell). Charismatic, has the right look, and really stood out on The Affair as the troubled Scotty Lockhart.

Colin Donnell could work. I can definitely see him in a role like that. And he is 33, I think that's the perfect age for anyone playing Hal Jordan.

Yeah, early 30s is a great age for Hal. If they go the rookie GL route, it fits because he's supposed to be an experienced pilot. And if they go the veteran GL route, it could still work because you could believe he'd been doing this for at least a few years.

I have a very strong feeling that Dameron is going to die in the next SW film.

I'm not at all a fan of Collin Donnell as Hal.

Oscar Isaac would be great though.

Slipknot and frickin El Diablo have been cast before Hal!
I'm just frickin ready for this casting already... geez

While I'm still pulling for John Krasinski as Hal ( may be alone in that) , I just got done watching Bridge of Spies . In this movie an actor plays a pilot and one of the main characters . His name is Austin Stowell and from what I've seen he has some talent and most definitely has the look of a young Hal Jordan. Just an idea ! However I'm getting the feeling that Hal may have already been cast and we just don't know it yet but that's the fun part of being a fanboy I guess . All the speculation and the wish list that we ha e

Yeah I saw that movie the other day and thought the same thing, but I'd have to see a bit more of him to convince me. It's hard to be sure after only seeing him in a bit part.

From the news yesterday it's starting to look more and more like Dan Amboyer is gonna be our Hal Jordan, may all be smoke and mirrors . Just starting to look more and more like there is some truth there
