I thought Bane's voice was a little too clear at times in the final mix. He sounded so canned/in the room compared to the other characters.

The only part of Interstellar I had trouble hearing was Michael Caine's last lines.

Which is sad, because the sound mix is terrible. I say this as someone who has a formal degree in sound engineering, and worked for a while in a professional studio.

It's sad because this just shows that Nolan is someone that won't let people do their job, and is delving into a territory that he has no expertise in. You can invoke an emotional response without having a crap sound mix.

Well… the sound mix “controversy” really only applies to two or three conspicuous scenes; the vast majority of the movie is mixed to conventional levels (or what counts as “conventional” for IMAX sound :O).

i am from europe so we have subtitles. i didnt understand what some were complaining . after the bluray i watched the movie without subtitles and i was shocked.

Mostly his response to the "plotholes" in his films and the middling (although, not really) reaction to Interstellar. It seemed so uncharacteristic of him to respond to that stuff.

Where did ge respond to the reaction to Interstellar?

Sorry, DA, I can't seem to find it anymore. Someone just asked him about the critical reaction to Interstellar and he was surprised by the question, seemingly under the impression that it was generally well received (which it is).

Strong hold for Interstellar, dropped only 39% in US Box Office. $321m worldwide.

It dropped way less than I expected. And it'll probably see a holiday bump on Thanksgiving. Good!

It's about on par with the drop for Inception.

I think if I were a filmmaker I would have a hard time listening to criticism. Most film critics are mean spiritd and are of average intelligence. I think it would be difficult to parse signal from the noise.

I just saw it. And WOW. What an Amazing movie! One of my top favorites of 2014.

10/10

I want an extended cut now. If they have one.

They should do a 30 minute extended fight DBZ style with MC vs that cameo guy in the movie

Holdover markets overseas have been strong. Interstellar's on pace for $100M in China alone. And it still has a Japan release.

I had a feeling he would feel this way after TDKR came out and it was a crappy sound mix. What's funny is all of his other films, have a tremendous sound mix. It doesn't seem like Nolan takes constructive criticism very well.

Interstellar seemed to make an effort to address long standing criticisms towards him. Particularly the coldness of his films and the lack of visual excitement.

OST 05 Stay. when Coop is driving away from the house and they are going to space the music got very loud.

i wonder if this was so loud because of the soundmix or because of Zimmer?

Does anyone else was kinda bummed that
we didn't see the god like humans?
, its such an interesting concept but we didn't get even a tiny glimpse, and
by the way guys could you please put the next wormhole a little closer? it took as 2 freaking years to reach this God damn thing

I thought the tiny glimpse with the big light running towards Copper in the 5th dimension was.

Around-the-World Roundup: 'Interstellar' Scores in China, Adds $106 Million Overseas
by Ray Subers
November 16, 2014

I

Christopher Nolan's Interstellar had another fantastic weekend at the international box office. Playing in 63 markets, the movie added $106 million for an early total of $224.1 million.

In China, Interstellar earned an estimated $42 million over its first five days. That's the second-biggest debut ever for Warner Bros. behind Pacific Rim (which received a boost from 3D pricing). The movie is now virtually guaranteed to earn over $100 million in this market.

Interstellar
's holdover markets dropped just 22 percent on average, which is a great hold for this kind of release. In South Korea, it was up 11 percent to $15.8 million, which brings its total to a stunning $35.9 million. Within a week, it will be the highest-grossing live-action import since Iron Man 3.

The movie also held on to first place in the U.K. ($6 million), Russia ($5.3 million), France ($4.1 million), Germany ($3.6 million), Australia ($3.1 million) and Spain ($2 million).

So far, Interstellar is tracking 13 percent ahead of Inception and six percent ahead of Gravity. With an upcoming release in Japan, Interstellar is virtually guaranteed to close with at least $400 million overseas.

Really? When I saw dark knight rises for the first time I didn't understand what he was saying 80% of the time.
