James Bond In Skyfall - - - Part 12

Skyfall performed pretty well this weekend considering it was up against Twilight. Plus it gets a boost next weekend due to Thanksgiving. I expect it will be over $200 million pretty soon.

This will be the highest a Bond movie ever made for a domestic release. I mean yeah, inflation, adjusted tickets and all that. But by the time it finishes, it will still be pretty significant considering it will make well over $200 million domestic.

Glad to see this movie did so well, even better than Casino Royale. I think audiences were really hungry to see James Bond onscreen again.

I think people also with this need to accept that Craig has nailed it as Bond and he's not a flash in the pan, one hit wonder.

Anyone who claimed he was a flash in a pan was pretty stupid to begin with.

I had assumed Silva would be the hand in his own demise, trying to kill Bond with his gun, and then it won't kill, as it is coded to 007's palm print. But, what would be a Bond movie if 007 didn't mess up the gadgets Q gives him? :oldrazz:
During that scene I was expecting M to have the knife and be the one to stab Silva.

Well I finally saw it today and frankly I though the first hour was slow and I was getting restless, I know Bond movies aren't about all-out action set pieces but geez man at least don't drag the movie.

I find this the problem with all Bond movies, they run 20-30 minutes too long because all we're seeing is time wasted on showing the exotic locales, beautiful paradises and unnecessary banter from Bond to M using slang that only British people would understand, the audience knows all this stuff just get to the story.

Another thing are the unimaginative titles that don't mean zip to the actual storyine, when I heard this was called Skyfall I was thinking there would be some skydiving or something like an aerial chase but nope, zero, zilch.

And I enjoy Daniel Craig as 007 he brings his game to the table but I'm an action nut and I expect more action and less talkie next time.

Are you being serious?

Maybe I didn't hear it, but did they ever actually say in the movie that Silva's first name was Raoul?

Well the ones with Pierce Brosnan made no sense like The World Is Not Enough, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day. All they serve is for some pop singer to write a song to it.

And what does Quantum Of Solace even mean?

But you're complaint about the title 'Skyfall' not relating to the plot makes no sense. Unless you dosed off right before the climax of the film.

Tomorrow Never Dies was in reference to the Newspaper, Tomorrow's News Today.

Die another Day was even quoted "so you live, to die another day." I assume that had something to do with Colonel Sun-Tan Moon metaphorically "dying" and coming back as gustav graves.

Quantum of Solace is the amount of comfort, and in reference to Ian Fleming's short story,"when the "Quantum of Solace" drops to zero, humanity and consideration of one human for another is gone and the relationship is finished." The movie is about Bond finding his Solace over vesper. Also, it just happens that the SPECTRE like organization is named Quantum.

FUN FACT: It was originally "Tomorrow Never Lies", which would be Elliot Carver's newspaper's slogan. There was a typo during pre-production and the title ended up sticking.

They didn't. Which actually makes sense.

"Silva" is the Spanish equivalent of "Smith". So Thiago Rodriguez basically renamed himself "John Smith", in a way.

I've heard another way; Fans called it Lies in production, then MGM used that.

Just thinking about it "tomorrow never dies" is a pretty dumb title. It's almost like saying wednesday never dies or something.

It's less cool when you realize "Rodriguez" is the Spanish equivalent of Jones. :o

Monday the absolute **** of a day just won't die no matter who much I try to kill it.

Yeah assuming he is spanish which based on his name and accent you can assume. Rodriguez is actually the more common last name than silva a good deal more common. For a true equivalent to "smith" he would have picked "Garcia" as his fake last name.

"The World is Not Enough" is the Bond family motto. It is about understanding Bond as a person, though you seem to have no interest in that. The same applies to Skyfall.

Now, he has the meanings behind all four of Brosnans movies. :woot:
