James Bond In Skyfall - - - Part 12

Speaking of "skyfall". I'm still a little confused about the whole word association game played by the doctor when assessing whether bond was fit for duty.

How/why did the Dr. bring up "skyfall" as one of the words needed to be associated? Skyfall was [BLACKOUT]bond's childhood home[/BLACKOUT] but what relevance did that have to the test? and also what was up with bond's response "done", what was done?

Not sure what the association had to do with it, but by "Done." he meant, it's over, i'm out.

He brought it up because its his childhood. Every psych doctor goes back to the childhood

I suppose, it just seems so random. You'd think they'd have assessed his childhood history long ago when he first joined. Not sure why they'd think any childhood memories would suddenly flare up during his time off?

Also he did look pretty perturbed by the mention as well, not sure about that?

LOL you kids arguing about the titles.

You think an elite spy organization wouldn't know about his childhood background? Why wouldn't that be relevant. He was a spy that went AWOL and almost died. The doctor is trying to be comprehensive and figure out what's up with Bond. Didn't seem out of the ordinary to me.

:wow::wow::wow:

*goes to a corner and cries*

How else do you explain missing things explained in the film? Skyfall's meaning is made perfectly clear. Same with TWINE.

Yep.

Great news about sky fall hitting 669 million ww hope it gets to or close to 800

Figure by the time it's done it will be around there. Probably not a billion though.

I wonder if with Thanksgiving weekend it can make $250 million.

Mojo says if it continues on a similar path to QoS it should be close.

800 million WW seems to be a lock.
I do hope it has enough power to hit 900 million WW.

It should hit 900 million. It's already at 507 million overseas and it still hasn't even opened in China, Japan, and some other territories. It should easily hit mid-600 million in OS gross. Domestically, like Darth said, if its run is similar to QoS it'll gross 250 million. It looks like it might track even better than QoS did in terms of how much BO income it takes week-to-week since it only dropped 50% from last weekend whereas QoS dropped 60% on its second weekend.

So yeah, 900 million is likely...to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it hit 1 billion. All it has to do is get near 300 million domestically (doesn't even actually have to cross it) and get just over 700 million OS. It's a bit of a stretch but it's definitely not outside the realm of possibility.

I would be pretty shocked if skyfall got near $300 million domestically, seeing as no bond has ever crossed 200 before.

I'm thinking a little over 250 maybe 260. I mentioned before but if bond had the proportional popularity domestically as it did overseas than yea this would hit a billion.

Yep.

This. Honestly, you have to not be paying attention at all to miss what both Skyfall and The World is Not Enough means in both movies.

And the Doctor thing is basic psych work. Asking about their past, especially past traumas is common in psychological testing.

Well I finally saw it today and frankly I though the first hour was slow and I was getting restless, I know Bond movies aren't about all-out action set pieces but geez man at least don't drag the movie.

I find this the problem with all Bond movies, they run 20-30 minutes too long because all we're seeing is time wasted on showing the exotic locales, beautiful paradises and unnecessary banter from Bond to M using slang that only British people would understand, the audience knows all this stuff just get to the story.

Another thing are the unimaginative titles that don't mean zip to the actual storyine, when I heard this was called Skyfall I was thinking there would be some skydiving or something like an aerial chase but nope, zero, zilch.

And I enjoy Daniel Craig as 007 he brings his game to the table but I'm an action nut and I expect more action and less talkie next time.

What so would you have preferred Bond and M using American slang instead?? Also what British slang do they use because I don't remember any??

Oh and by the way this is the worst review ever....

Glad to know Skyfall took a good chunk of cash away from Twilight to prevent any more records being set by that crap. :woot:

and also what was up with bond's response "done", what was done?

That conversation. The doctor brought up a touchy subject so Bond was like "Fu** this sh**!"

Wow. I haven't even read that post except for that one part about unimaginative titles. I wish I had not now.

I'm now up to Casino Royale with watching the Bond movies again and CR is a simply brilliant movie and one of the best 'movies' I've seen. but he is becoming Bond so I can't class it as one of the top 'Bond' movies I've seen. For example CR is a far better 'movie' than TSWLM but TSWLM is a better 'Bond' movie. A bit like TDK is a better 'movie' than BB but BB is a better 'Batman' movie.
Also imho Skyfall is a better Bond movie because it adheres more closely to the Bond conventions I expect. Great movie though.

Also I remember seeing Day another Day in the cinema and hated it, hating the invisble car and thinking that Bond has jumped the shark but I saw DAD at the weekend for the first time since the cinema and I absolutely LOVED IT. Go figure...

Next up is Quantum of Solace, another movie I absolutely hated this movie at the cinema, we'll see if my opinion changes for that movie like it has for DAD. I doubt it, I at least remember have 'some' fun during DAD at the theatre but I remember pretty much hating all of QoS.

Based from what you've posted the past week and again today, I think you'll hate QoS as much as you did.

Maybe not. I now have CR fresh in my mind, I wont be thrown by starting the movie exactly where the last movie left off. I like Craig more and I am now up to speed with the shadow organisation having watched a ton of James Bond in a row. If I don't like QoS it's no biggie as CR and SF dovetail nicely.
