The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jamie Foxx IS Electro - Part 4

Wait what about his motivation for the role makes you think he wouldn't wanna be back?

Just a feeling I got from his interviews, but evidently there are some I havent seen were he says he would like to come back.

Glad they didn't put metal crap on his face.

Just got back from this film. I didn't realise Electro was written by Schumacher. Interesting choice, Avi...

Electro was visually stunning, character wise he was bland and I didn't feel as sympathetic when he turns into a villain just to get attention that he never got as Max Dillion where he was basically invisible to everyone else and then Spidey, Gwen notice him but it's not enough for him. He's actually power hungry that when he get's the power he abuses it and endangers the live of millions just to feel speical

Electro is one of my favorite villains of all time....

Watching him in action, at least in 3D is kinda cool. But the way his character was written and executed was horrendous. I know I've said this a lot, but he and the rest of the villains in this movie literally belong in an episode of the 1960's Batman TV Series. Just way over-the-top, silly, cheesy and plain stupid. They made him a complete wuss.

Actually, judging by the way his character acts in the movie, it would have made a lot of sense for him to wear the classic green and yellow costume.

And somebody please, please, please photoshop Electro wearing a Riddler outfit. I must see it.

Edward Nygma with electrical powers.

I was getting legit Batman Forever flashbacks when Max Dillon was looking into the mirror and talking to himself with all the Spidey posters around him. Even his facial expressions and acting was Jim Carrey-ish.

yeah, he was basically Riddler. I also think his modivation was completely juvenile. I think the stereotype lonely nerd angle is truly awful. He had potential. Foxx is a really good actor, definitely misused.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but I think Electro took his post-escape costume from one of the Ravencroft orderlies.

Am I the only one here who doesn't see comparisons between Jamie Foxx's Electro and Jim Carrey's Edward Nygma as a bad thing?

I couldn't help but cringe in my seat when I saw the Max Dillon scenes. It was awful and took me out the movie. Memories of Edward Nygma and Gus Gorman rolled into one.

Especially the birthday cake scene. Another pathetic villain who wants to murder the hero because he wanted attention.

Agreed...worst villain characterization in any of Spider-Man movies. Sad for Oscar-nominated and talented actor like Foxx.

How were we supposed to take this goofy, stupid, cartoony, caricature of a nerd seriously I mean for goodness sake what the HELL were they thinking?! Why couldn't he just look like Jamie Foxx and act realistic and not like some fumbling idiot that NO ONE can possibly take seriously?

Unfortunately, Electro is probably the biggest flaw the film has. He could have used a bit more screen time and development, particularly in the second act. He's there and his presence is felt in acts 1 and 3, but then he just disappears for the second act. They could have fleshed him out more. I also thought he had 1 or 2 lines here and there that sounded "off". Most of this is due to him having a lot of scenes cut out, much like the Lizard.

I liked Electro in the final third of the film when he was full on, and I thought they used his powers creatively in the action sequences. The big issue was that there was nothing interesting about his story or his motivations. I don't know why Webb used the Edward Nygma blueprint from Batman Forever when SSM provided him with a much better one.

I do know of stunted dorks in real life that do look like that, but it was still cringeworthy. Foxx did his best work post transformation.

LOL at that photo . They got it completly wayward. Did Jamie have any say at all or was he just a puppet with his strings being pulled. I would of laughed in Webbs face if he shown me concept art of Max. Especially that pathetic combover.

It's part of the cheesiness of his character, why so serious?

because it was over the top. There's nerds and then there's that . A brother with a combover ain't gonna cut it either. Especially in this day and age .

The worst part is there's probably going to be a wave of people who electrocute themselves instead of forking out for braces
