Yeah I see Leto too. Where is that pic from?? Is it real?

The pic I posted is just for comparison. the one that Kal-El.9859 posted is supposed to be a leaked pic from the set.

the supposed leaked pic does look like LEto but not like Leto's Joker. More like a version of Leto that has been photoshopped

Even if it is real, it could be a leaked set pic of one of the several "looks" that were tried out before settling on the final one.

That's what I was on about. Thanks. I hope it's real...

Still patiently waiting for Ayer to tweet that that Joker pic was a Joke...

Nothing inherently bad with being edgy. There is also nothing inherently good about it.it is a buzzword rendered meaningless by overuse, one of many buzzwords that studios keep trying to substitute for good. I don't care if you are the edgiest, most hardcore movie or the sweetest most playful one, as long as its a good movie.

I also don't find Man of Steel to be particularly edgy. That's not a criticism of the movie, but when they keep talking about it as if it is, it rings false and not sure what it means for what they consider edgy moving forward.

Fair assessment, though I don't think studios are substituting it for good as much as for different.
My comment wasn't necessarily directing at you Slam, it's just that several people have thrown those words around really sarcastically like they were bad things about the photo which I completely have to roll my eyes at.

I found the destruction and neck snapping in MOS to be quite edgy for a Superman film myself.

The problem with edgy is its really simple to try too hard. Suddenly you don't have an edgy movie, you have an "edgy" movie.

There's nothing edgy about the destruction. Hollywood has been taking advanatge of the fear of falling buildings since 911. Avengers, Transformers, SanAndreas is right around the corner. It would be edgier not to have them at this point. The neck snapping could have been edgy if it was actually compelling.I didn't find it as such though personally, it just seems like trying to hard. Takes more than a blue tint and some elevated violence to be edgy IMHO

As others have touched on already, as far as first official images go, remember that this was our first look at Heath Ledger's Joker and the reaction it provoked among many:

Apples and oranges. That pic was just a close up shot of his face. Doesn't show his green hair, his purple suit or anything. Leto's reveal pic shows him shirtless, covered in tattoos, with silver teeth, wearing one glove like Michael Jackson or something, and looking like a punk rocker from a Joker themed band. It's actually mind boggling to see some people use the word perfect in their analysis of this horrible design.

Quoting this again because I can't believe this is a serious post. Bahahah.
If you don't understand the context then you wouldn't understand why it's a serious post.

When the corners of one's mouth are angled up and outward it forms a smile. That is the Joker's signature look. It's why his mouth was permanently like that in the 89 movie and why the lipstick was extended past his mouth to form a smile in TDK. The expression that Leto is giving is the first time I've seen the Joker like that. He looks like he's screaming with barely a hint of a smile. This is the first promotional image of the Joker. The fact that the look they're going with is much different than expected, combined with the fact that his expression is off, makes it harder for me to get used to the look than it would be if he was making a more Joker-esque expression.

I hate when people quote old posts in order to bash them and leave out any form of context.

Wasn't there some report of this particular version of Joker having tattoos before we got the Official Joker pic ?

Edit : I remember that same report had claimed that this time we will get a Joker who has operated as a thug on streets of Gotham in past.

That rumor was actually about Luthor.

Joker has had dozens of different looks in the past. What matters ... the constant here ... is his characterization.

So what do we think, is what Ayer tweeted out last night the definitive version, or is he and Leto still messing with looks? If anything, I think last night's image is what he'll look like in prison, but anything is possible once he gets out *which he will*
