The Dark Knight Joker's real name

Yeah, you guys saying it should be "kept" as Jack Napier are a little misguided, he never was Jack Napier, it is solely a creation of the Burton film that got carried over into the television show as most of the people in that show's target audiences were introduced to The Batman by that film. The name carried over into the comics only after Batman 89'. The Joker, historically, doesn't have a name and I hope the Nolans/Goyer keep it that way.

As for the Joker backstory bit, that is NOT a Nolan quote, Nolan hasn't even spoken of any specifics of the film at all outside of the WB press release (which makes no mention of the nature of The Joker's portrayal in the script). It is a quote from a source of Jett's which may or may not turn out to hold any water (I love Jett's site, but a lot of rumors turn out to be untrue).

I think it should be Joel Schumacher. Because then Batman could say something to the effect of "This guy Joel Schumacher is an evil bastard."

Not a bad idea, Shaggyaggie. I'd love the line.

I still love the little jab the animated series got in at Schumacher...

It's Joe Kerr. Watch the last scene with the card in Begins. The plastic bag says "Joe Kerr."

That's the name of the officer who found the card. And it was "J.Kerr". And it was a nod to the fans, nothing more.

Maybe the Joker's name is the twist of the movie like the Ducard/Ra's thing. I say the Joker is really Jacques de Molay...:o

unknown....

if Nolan does anything he should take bits from "the killing joke"....

The Joker is best left as a mystery prior to his dip in the chemicals....

it's going to be left unknown, as it should be.........if not, it should be jeff albertson.

So youd un canonize all new comics just because "Napier" came from Burton? Cmon.

Film makers are no different than an alternate comic take. Fair is fair, not just for comic writers.

His name WILL NOT be Joe Kerr, or J. Kerr. The way Gordon talked about him, it seems no one has any idea who he is.

I think it'll be left alone. However, if it is mentioned, I think it'd have to be Jack...something. That's the closest thing he has to a name in three forms of media (live action, cartoon, and comic), there'd be little point in changing it now.

Yeah. I say keep it in the dark though. I mean, his past is really that mysterious.

Isn't the Killing Joke sort of like a "possible" origin? He's so crazy it might not even be what really happened....

heh... homage to a real life Joker. Destroying the Batman franchise sounds exactly like something up the clown's alley.

Wrong. Look again. It says "Recovered By: J Kerr". Implying that Mr. Kerr was probably a cop or citizen who found the card. In any case, it's irrelevant as it's nothing more than an easter egg for the fans. Who no doubt freeze framed that exact shot, like you and I. :o

And if there has to be a real name, I guess I wouldn't mind "Jack". No last name though. Cause that will obviously mean they'll have access to all sorts of records, and I want Joker to be as unknown as possible.
