Hah - I'd LOVE to know why this happens.

Reminds me of this (the run)

That's a heck of a find, Eddie. :funny:

Not that anyone cares, but I totally called JGL's role as a cop on Gordon's special task force. Cottilard's role sounds small which is probably a good thing given the inevitably balooning cast.

After TDKR, children everywhere will have a new excuse for a "lost report card."

I'm just glad this movie isn't "The Villains' sons/daughters shall rise!" bulls*** that some people were brainstorming about.

This. I am so glad they are playing these roles instead of Alber or Talia, that was such a bad idea on so many levels, not to mention adding way to many characters.

Besides it wouldn't have made sense, it would have felt of more of a sequel to BB than TDK

I think I speak for the multitudes when I ask who in the **** is John Blake? Regardless of him being in the early comics. :argh:

AND it would feel as if Batman's world is so much smaller than it is in the comics.

Villain's son is a villain and that guy's son is a villain and that guy's son is a villain.

Seriously lol.

Hmmmm, originally I reckoned he'd be a *****ey DA and or an ******* cop. Methinks he's gonna be a pain in Gordon's ass.

^^Agreed. I think there's a good chance that he'll end up being an over-zealous cop who digs deep and somehow finds out about the Bats/Gordon Dent cover-up.

I think the key phrase for JGL's character is beat cop. A beat cop is a watchman/street cop that patrols the same neighborhood over and over. Because of this, he is well-known in the community and builds positive relationships with the citizens in that area.

Nolan and crew really have not told a small story with a beat cop in the Batman films before in my opinion; so this will be exciting. But, how far in the film will he be assigned to special duty? Maybe from the start? This still does not mean that JGL will be on the same special force that is trying to bring in The Batman. Maybe JGL is on a very small team, maybe even himself, that is trying to uncover Batman's identity or assist Batman in some way. This role also poses many questions from me:)

**** YES!!! I really didn't want Marion to be Talia. Now here's hoping that Talia won't appear in this one at all.

Although I know Nolan can juggle multiple characters in a single film, it's good to know that JGL won't be a villian. I want Bane done right in this film, so the more screentime he gets the better.

I agree. This makes him bring info to Bane?
Who knows. I think in some ways it would make more trouble for our protagonists if he went public with it. It would certainly put Gordon in a pickle. He goes from hero cop to dirty cop, and it would certainly threaten his new Commissioner postion

I know it's not the most exciting character announcement, but honestly, I'm glad it's not a major villain. I mean, let's be honest, I have yet to see a comic book movie that's good, with more then two major villains in it.

And to clairify, I'm saying MAJOR villains. Yes, TDK had many villains, but I don't count the Chechen, Gambol, or Maroni as major villains. And even with TDK, I would argue that Two-Face was not used to his full potential (but I don't want to derail this thread).

I would have been worried had JGL turned out to be Black Mask or someone like that. However, I do think BM or Alberto could have both worked well in supporting villain roles (like Maroni and Falcone did in their respective films), though even then, I'd still like to see Black Mask get a fuller treatment then just a side villain.

Actually JGL will probably be a bad guy. His task force is probably the one leading the hunt on Batman.

Technically that's a good guy since when you get down to it, Batman is breaking the law by taking it into his own hands.

all i can say about the new casting reveals: phew.

nolan hasn't failed yet, and there is now no indication he will.

I'm LOL'ing hardcore right now.

"JGL has to be a villain!"
"Nolan wouldn't reduce JGL to a supporting role!"

Ah. The sweet taste of victory :awesome:.

Nordling over at AICN pretty much says that Marion and JGL are playing Talia and Alberto, respectively, and this announcement is fake characters.
