"Let Your Soul-Glo": The Experience Returns

Does anyone remember a white soul artist that had a really tight song out a few years ago that sounded like Maxwell? I am trying to find the song but I can't remember the title or the name of the artist. For some reason I wanna say the guy's name was Remmie, but nothing comes up. He only had the one hit--and it was a minor one.

It's too bad he never blew up. He had heat...well, in my opinion anyway. Hard to believe that way way back in 2001.

I just felt like posting this.

I've never heard of him but then again I'm from the UK so if he didnt blow up over the states we most likely wouldn't have heard him.

He sounds a lot like maxwell and I think that was probably why he wasnt heard of after.

They ALL sound like Maxwell. Or they're trying to sound like Al Greene.

:funny:

Ya know actually...he does kinda sound like a mosquito sometimes. I never looked at it that way before.

Maxwell's the man! Love his work through and through. Love the way he interprets a vocal hey. So good...

It's funny that some of us were ragging on the alleged lameness of the Black Eyed Peas a few days ago. I came across this and cracked up until I had tears in my eyes:

"They buy me all these icies..." :funny:

This parody shows that there's more than one way to turn crappy lyrics into a "hit". True, you have the original method: which is to use half naked sexy ladies with poor musical skills who distract the viewer from the mediocrity of both the lyrics and the melody. Notably, with this method, the music will NEVER make it without the video.

And then we have the other method: to use an incredibly talented singer (and a tune that fits her voice) to distract from the meaningless and shallow lyrics. This method survives with or without the video. In other words, this clip is both a parody AND a lesson. :funny:

I really want Bruno Mars to come out with his own album. Just heard him and B.O.B. performing live on some MTV Spring Break show, and gotdamn that man can sing.

Yeah, I think he's a good choice. I just hope the script is right.

Does anyone else believe these guys were the epitome of soul for their time? Despite their look...

Hall and Oates were pretty damn good. I love "She's Gone" and "One on One."

I loved "Sara Smile."

They still play that song to death on the R&B stations in New York during the "quiet storms". For many years I grew up believing that Hall & Oates were black. LOL :p

Yeah, I thought they were too. I didn't find out they weren't until I was in high school. I was like, "wtf?" lol

Same thing with Bobby Caldwell, but Manic has a funnier story than I regarding that matter.

*looks at Manic* Que?

To E-Man: Yeah, "One On One" was just smooth, chill-azz R&B for its time. I remember being crushed on this girl in my class when that single was hot on the charts. It was like my theme song for her. Sadly, she didn't think I was that cute. :csad:
