So what do you guys think of relaxed vs. natural hair on black women?

I don't mind either. As long as she has a pretty face. I used to go out with this girl and she would NOT let me touch her hair. She used to tell me, "I spent too much time on this hair for you to go messing it up". We eventually broke up and I started going out with her friend, who at the time I thought looked like Mariah Carey, but in retrospect... she didn't look like her at all.

I found the song completely underwhelming. I kept waiting for her to really "bring it" but it just stayed monotone all the way through.

To me, the first radio single is supposed to be the main appetizer that gets you hooked on wanting to buy the album. It's also supposed to be among the best songs the album has to offer. If that's supposed to be the "best"...

She could make somewhat of a comeback I guess, but anyone thinking she'll be as big as she once was is fooling him/herself. The music industry has changed drastically since her heyday. The last thing I want to see is her nearly 50 year old ass trying to half rap/sing/autotune her way to a hit, while wearing next to nothing and bumping and grinding with Lil Wayne in a video. Plus her voice was pretty much shot the last time I saw her perform on some award show. She couldn't even finish the song...had one of her background singers do it for her.

Yeah, but although his outer appearance drastically changed, vocally Michael Jackson never faltered--if anything, he sounded better as he aged ("Butterflies" remains one of my favorite tunes right behind "Rock With You").

In my opinion, Whitney's voice has lost its power. And it has to be the drugs because her peers (i.e. Mariah Carey for example) have managed to maintain their vocal prowess over the same time period.

But one thing I'm reading right now that you guys might be interested in--Rebel Yell, by Alice Randall. I'm about in the third chapter, and I'm digging it. I wasn't sure what it was at first, since the synopsis looks like a mystery, but I'm getting it now. So far it seems to be about the son of a lawyer doing the Civil Rights Movement turned rampant neo-con dies at a Civil War renactment restaurant and his first wife goes through his life to try to find how he became the way he was. I'll let you guys know if it's any good when I finish it.
