Eh I disagree. I think Trank handled that aspect better in Chronicle.

Yeah, Trank did a good job too but just speaking on Almanac alone, I bought them as legit, realistic teens. Good directing from Israelite, gotta give him props.

But you know what's also funny? I remember atleast as far back as 2009, everybody and their mom seemed to be clamoring a more "serious" reimagining of MMPR on some of the devoted MMPR discussion forums along with people constantly posting their own reimaginings on fan fiction sites (Hell I even posted one where Zordon and Zedd were brothers) but now all of a sudden some have done a full 180 from that. I wonder what changed? Lol

The MCU changed the game with The Avengers aka the perfect Power Rangers movie without the Zords. Oh and Guillermo Del Toro made Pacific Rim and redefined expectations of robots on film.

There were a few flashes of the sillier aspects.

Like who was doing martial arts on top of train?

Overall, I think they the MMPR parts are going to be too silly for them to exercise out unless they've done some BAYFORMERS-BAYTURTLES stuff to Zordon and the Putties, etc which is what worries me.

I really want to say it was Zack for some reason. Maybe because the casting sides say he's a poor kid who lives on the outskirts of town and that train looked like it was on the outskirts?

As for Zordon, I hope they don't follow this concept art. I mean look how similar they are.

Zordon better be similar to the show/first movie than saying something like "my bad"

I didn't mind Optimus saying that.

I wasn't crazy about them having powers unmorphed, though I know there's a precedent(but not in MMPR which this is based on).

I have a feeling that the civilian powers will not be so overt as time goes on. The Rangers will learn martial arts and then will take a more greater emphasis on that.

Come on, man, outside of superficial similarities, that looks nothing like Doctor Manhattan. I know that's rejected concept art, but it fits the aesthetic of what we've seen in this movie so far.

I must say, Pacific Rim kinda set the standard. Those fight scenes were amazing and felt real. Not any of that Bay-Formers stuff. The physics is way off and it bothers me sometimes.

Pacific Rim definitely needs to be a template and inspiration for Dean. Forget transformers and try to out do Pacific Rim.

Blue nude alien with blank emotionless face that is all-knowing(one is a metaphorical alien). When I saw that pic, it kinda reminded me of that.

He still looks awesome to me and much better than just a giant head. His chest is bare but maybe he has some ancient Warrior pants or something. I doubt they'll have him completely exposed to teenage kids..

There's only superficial similarities in that they're both nude and blank, but otherwise completely different designs.

I agree. There was nothing more exciting and just plain awesome than seeing giant robots beating the **** out of giant monsters. The whole concept while not original, was executed well. Hopelly Dean can out do Del Toro in that department. And I hope we don't see this kind of cockpit for the megazord...

Del Tero's concept was much more cooler. It really felt like the jaegers were being controlled by the pilots. The theme for this movie or the tagline is "Together we're more". That'd fit in perfectly when controlling the megazord. Visually it looks better than just sitting around with a joystick imo.

I like everything about that Zordon except being naked even if he's in water up to his waist. Very mixed on that Alpha and especially the wide chest

not gonna lie. i think this looks good.

i don't have much attachment to the old tv show, i think its ok but i get why people love it.

this looks to be a superhero movie for teenage audiences, i'm not part of that demographic, still it looks like it's going to be fun.

it seems like its a bit of chronicle + superheroes + pacific rim. maybe it rips off from these other movies. don't matter as long as its done well and is cool.

Oh this is so much closer to what I was wanting for the costumes. I really dislike the shiny new car look the suits have.

I don't like the GORT version of Alpha. Even the 95 movie was more faithful to the TV Alpha.

In fact the 95 movie is basically a bigger budget version of the TV show with all the cheese
