lionsgate paid $25,000,000 + $40,000,000 marketing

$30,000,000 for the united states and canada, $10,000,000 for the uk

that is $65,000,000, lionsgate gets 55% of the box office from dom. and uk

power rangers made $75,000,000 dom, $4,000,000 in the uk, so $41,000,000 brings power rangers to break even

using the 45% - 55% split, powers rangers has to gross $120,000,000 in Dom + Uk for lionsgate to break even
That is 120m, not 40m. You also left out distribution.

Jason David Frank,

I know you have three goddamn first names, but do not crutch to this awful box office. Yo ponytail has seen better days, man. Why you acting like you''ll get a line at the next fast place joint in the film? What happened to you, mayne? Yo ass use to be beautiful. Now you running around with your Steven Segal hair and taking pics in the background. SNap out of it son and take this 99cents box office gain from goddamn china.
I basically read this post like this:

So if by some miracle we do end up getting a sequel when should we expect an announcement?

And in not one place is it close to 8 figures. That is crazy.

Always good to see some who doesn't understand accounting try to piece together something to fit their argument.

I dont know a damn thing about accounting but I am for sure that Lionsgate needs more than 45 mill to "break even"

Only reason I know this stuff is because I do enjoy the yearly Deadline articles on which movies really are the most profitable. Deadline kind of sucks now, but I do enjoy those looks. Shows you just how much these movies really cost to make. A lot more money spent outside of the base production and marketing. Especially if other companies are involved. People like to forget that JK gets a big chunk of profits every time a Potter movie is made, and that isn't all in the budget. RDJ getting points for the Avengers did not come out of the budget.

it's another story for lionsgate international partners, they paid $75,000,000 to lionsgate and $50,000,000 for marketing, around $120,000,000............

To break even they need $220,000,000 in box office, so since power rangers grossed $38,000,000 minus Uk , since that goes to lionsgate's break even

international distributors need $182,000,000 more in box office sales to break even

in closing , power rangers need $340,000,000 World-Wide to break even

Uh, no. Each distributor made their own deal I would suspect.

Unfortunately you are correct. Mexico is halfway there though :woot:
My ancestral home enjoys its Power Rangers. I know, my grandmother use to bring me home bootleg figures when she'd take her yearly trip for like 4 years. They were always so bad, and I loved them so much. Especially comparing to my legit ones.

Why the suits?
1. Because it's armor. It's continuously referred to as armor.
2. The kids do in fact get hurt during training, so obviously they would be in worse condition against actual monsters.

Where's the action or thrills?
1. Sprinkled throughout before the big dumb thing we crave
2. Get a couple of sweet car chases before they unearth the base
3. the display of powers and subsequently the actual training montage is genuinely fun to watch
(especially the moments outside putty tutorial)
4. Scenes with Rita
Oh well, maybe this is a blessing in disguise. This'll give Saban and the studio time to regroup and re-assess how to handle this the next time they inevitably try again with the franchise in 10 years. The tragedy of it all is the great Ranger cast is now wasted and we'll never see their full potential and these actors will now be associated with a flop.
Not the first time I've read that before.

the thing is power rangers only appeals to power rangers to power rangers fans, so after power rangers fans saw it, that was it the general audience don't care for power rangers

it's saban's fault because he never grew the show up with the audience, power rangers is known as a goofy kids property and that's the king of box office he got
I have no idea what to say right now because the template/tone for a modern MMPR origin reboot has been established here.
This is surprisingly well-realized because the focus is on the characters, their struggles and comradery
Zordon is so obsessed with his doom & gloom projection [BLACKOUT] that he's frustrated by the teens not getting why they can't morph to the point where he wants to take Jason's place. Jason feels belittled and goes with the rest of the crew to the campfire scene.[/BLACKOUT]
And..., imho, that and what happens scenes later couldn't be more significant of how much the filmmakers actually cared.

I like spectacle-driven movies as much as the next guy, but this had a beating heart.
I was expecting a 'shrug your shoulders' kind of thing, yet this is without hesitation the best Power Rangers movie and the best Power Rangers thing I've watched this decade.
No wonder Reel-Man wants Israelite to stick around.

Get better 2nd unit directors to work on the superhero portion people have issues with.
Sequel or not, my take on what I've had the pleasure of seeing will not change.

Any ways you slice it. The movie flopped! Their will be no sequel
