I agree with jamie on PR. I think 200 mill or there about in the states, but much bigger numbers overseas. 350 mill +

I'm still thinking 310/320 mill for mos here, 325/350 overseas.

So man of steel makes like $100 million more than PR?
Ouch.

No, at my relatively young age I've had 2 serious health scares that have shot my nerves, I don't put myself under stressful conditions if I can help it.

I hope and expect the reviews to be good and that that will push up tracking estimates. That Trevor guy better do an honest review. He was down on SR and as I recall - it seemed he didn't like the character. Hope he at least goes in with an open mind.

I want to go into MOS calm, not worrying about reviews, ready to drink it all in. Like S:TM was to my dad - magic, I fully expect MOS to be magic to me. My dad tells me how the audience stood and erupted in cheers when Supes said to Lois "I've got you" and she replied "Whose got you"?! I fully expect similar moments in MOS.

Indeed, I probably won't look at BO numbers for MOS until August when it's all sort of settled with the late Asian premiers. After today I am out of here for months. Not totally a bad thing cause I get the feeling I may have overstayed my welcome here in recent days - especially with one person in particular.

I am hopeful we are on the verge of a rebirth of the most iconic fictional character of all time. In film, comics and how about graphic novels. Bats gets a ton. Supes not many though he has had some great ones like All Star Superman. There are so many great stories still to tell and so much more to do - like a serious effort to make the Lex/Clark relationship that of Cain and Abel. The stuff of legends. As was done so well in Smallville. And now that WB/DC has won the rights to Superboy, as well as Superman (pending a SCOTUS appeal which legal experts say will be rejected) DC needs to re-establish the scenario of Smallville where Clark and Lex grow up together and as defacto brothers. It adds so much to the mythos.

Do you mean me Tobias?

I may have pointed out your many many previous Superman hating comments (because you are a Superman hater who wants him and the franchise to fail) but I'm most definitely not the only person here who thinks you've overstayed your welcome. It's only because most people on the Superman forums are decent folk that you haven't been chased off here IMO. And without seeming too heartless, why use your health problems to try and get sympathy from others here? you've managed quite well enough lately with coping with the hater reveal and all? and now you say you cant be here because of possible upcoming stress?.

I honestly believe that most things you say are well thought out as to what kind of response or reaction you will get from others, and these "final posts" of yours are trying to do exactly that by excusing yourself from past behavior and by trying to highlight me as someone who has "a problem" with you more so than others. The "problem" here lies with only you Tobias, with the many comments you have previously made that prove what you really think and lot's of members see this now and no amount of your ignoring whats happened or glossing over it will work.

People have seen what you wrote about Superman etc,and you have no good excuse for it,because there isn't one!

And isn't it convenient that you wont be here for months??

Why wont you use the other Superman threads like real fans here will be?

Why wont you come here after seeing the movie to say if you liked it or not?

After spending such time on the box office thread, why wouldn't you stick around for a while to see what happens? as you've been so interested in it up to this point?

Is it possible that you wont be able to stand seeing MOS be a big success and have everybody saying "I told you so hater!" to you?

Ahh Tobias....."See through you we do!"...:jedi:jedi

Here's a small reminder of what you really think about Superman and the franchise....(from page ten of this thread)

I don't have high hopes for MOS. Despite the good cast. If MOS pulls an SR then where is WB?

The studio should have gone with Captain Marvel or Flash instead of another Superman film. Audeinces don't relate to Superman and I don't see Nolan or anyone else being able to change that.

We've seen Supes on the screen enough. I'd rather having a pairing between Batman and one of the DC superheros - not WW however.

Superman is the problem here. It should not be the gauge of other DC franchises. WB did not want to make more Superman films because they believe the franchise is basically dead. I don't know of any non-fanboy sources that think MOS will be anything but another big disappointment like SR.

So DC fans are stuck again because of Superman. This is why the best thing that will happen to fans of Flash and WW and the others is 2013 when WB and DC lose Superman and finally, like 20 years too late, the studio will have to focus on Flash and WW and the others.

2013 can't come too soon.
It will be a game changer IMO

Really?....you say this but all your comments prove different. You are just trying to sound like a huge fan now because you were found out for being a hater.

But really Batman is the defacto leader of the JL now and has been for a long time. Superman doesn't have to be in the film. I'd rather WB take their time and get it right even it that means no Supes in the film.

Superman does not need to be in JL. Only fanboys will notice/care. Not the GA. JL needs to be about WW and Flash and MM working off of Bats.

5 members yes but drop Supes.

The focus has to be on the "new" DC characters. Batman will be able to get the extra time in a JL film needed to help make it huge if the time is taken from what would have been time spent on Superman.

The GA is not going to notice.

Just remember Tobias, there are about twenty more comments you have made on this site and previous sites that could also be quoted here to show even more of your "love" for all things Superman. Funny thing is is that it doesn't really matter anyway because the legal troubles didn't end him like you wanted them too,and MOS will be more than good enough to get sequels WF or JL made and launch the DC characters on screen. So you haven't got your wish, and all us real fans are getting what we feel Superman deserves.

Au revoir:oldrazz:

(sorry if some think I'm being harsh but I've seen it for years of this guy fooling people, and he was doing quite a good job here as well until I pointed out his true colors).

Ouch.
I'm just guessing. I have no idea. I do think PR will be HUGE overseas tho.

I will say that MOST of the time, big budget films with a no name cast dont fair as well here. But that same thing doesnt seem to matter overseas.

The real movie to worry about isn't PR... It's Monsters University.
My opinion only. Pixar isnt the monster it used to be, and its been a long time since M.I.
But yeah, I think MU will be pretty big. how big tho, thats the question.

MU and MOS aren't the same genre. That's all I'm going to say. I think MOS will do better than PR in UK.

Dude, trust me, Man of steel will exceed your expectations domestically and overseas.

Agree with everything you said except the min figure. I think the min will be 800 mil. You can quote me on that!

Fixed..I think it going well over 800 mil.

Oh now we're insulting people who aren't predicting astronomical numbers?

Bravo, you're outdoing yourself.

*slow clap*

:whatever:

Trolls like Tobias that predict 600 mil deserve to be called that.

They JUST released M.I in 3D not too long ago. It has not been a long time since Monsters Inc.

Saying $600 million WW is a troll number is pretty stupid.

HSX says that the current tracking for MOS is a $108M opening weekend. That would be impressive if that actually happened.

But anything above $80M is a win in my book.

It seems a pretty safe bet to say a 100 mill ow is happening. how much over that it goes is the question.

I know..still, the original was hardly a juggernaut. besides, I dont see the problem. both films will have their own audiences. and some will see both.

But I believe it had hardly any marketing, they just released it to remind people since its been so long.

I didn't know about MU until I went to see Iron Man 3 and I saw the trailer. The marketing here is not THAT good.....
The best marketing I've seen here is Skyfall.

yeah but it only made 34 mill dom in its re release in 3D

Im not saying it wont be a hit, it will be, but im not very worried about it.

34M domestic on a re-release is still big money. It was just something to get Monsters Inc. back in people's head.

And it's not the genre of movie that affects MOS, it's the audience. MOS missing out on little kids having their birthday party there and dragging their parents on a Friday night to take them is still something.

Some kids may pick MOS...you never know.
The cool kids will. :word:

$289m US/ $562m WW 12 years ago isn't a juggernaut?

Unless my math is wrong (which, admittedly, is quite possible since I suck at math...) that's well over $400m US & about $850m WW when adjusted for inflation & 3D.

Disney even admitted they were disappointed in MI re release in 3D. They said it didnt make the kind of money they hoped it would. Also MI made 62m opening weekend in 2001. I am sure some buzz is still there but not enough to seriously hurt MOS

Is that why you picked $400 million?
yup. and also because i did the prediction a year ago, and when i didn't like the movie storyline, reuse of general zod, removal of the red briefs and skeptical on Cavill n Amy. basically a year ago i really disliked MOS.

I have no problem with any of you guys/gals guessing low, its the trolls that come in and do it that bothers me...
