Oh yeah, this has always been my intention.
I never said "DC is better than Marvel" or anything like that. I'm not trying to turn this thread into a
DC vs. Marvel flame war. I'm just saying that Superman gets a lot of hate for no reason at all.
Actually some of us Marvel fans like Superman, believe it or not. I was 9 years old when the first movie came out, and most people now don't know the impact that film had.
Yes I agree with you there has not been a modern age Superman movie made, the Donner films were based on Silver age Superman, and Singer's movie continued off the Donner films, although in fairness he tried to somewhat modernize it.
My wife and I, were huge fans of the Lois and Clark TV show. I didn't care for Smallville, but I had friends that liked it.
Bottom line, I like Superman as a character, but sure I'm going to compare this to Donners film. When I hear people say "this is the best Superman ever" and they're 22 years old, they don't understand what the Donner films meant back in the day.
Yes those films are dated, but I believe that those are the gold standard for Superhero movies.
This movie looks good, but my only reservation going in, is hearing from people that Lois Lane is barely in the movie. For a 2 1/2 hour movie, that has me concerned. I understand that this is a retelling of the character, but to me Superman always works best when it's centered around Lois and Clark.
