No, you were just making childish comments about other fans. It's not welcome here, and I suggest you keep the topic to Man of Steel if you can't discuss fans of other properties without treating them with the respect you expect from them.

ok then

Monsters University already has 2 rotten ratings on Rotten Tomatoes... This could be good, very good for MOS.

But remember, never underestimate the kids films at the movies.

They got it so wrong. The number is 143.:o
I'm gonna feel dumb for low balling.

Anything less than $100 Mil would be lowballing at this point. Kind of like WB's estimate. I'm at $130 mil+

Anyone think the review embargo was purposefully imposed by the WB because they know most will be good/great, and will further help build a case for awareness for MOS throughout the week?

If we see really high scores/reviews, the WB really just took the marketing up another notch with this move....it will be nothing short of masterful calculation.

Think about it, how many major movies release reviews a week out? It's usually when you check Friday mornings in the paper/net.....

meaningless....Pixar makes money and Monsters U will make alot of money.

MOS will be fine though

Families are going to go to Monsters University regardless of the reviews.

Kids do not look at ratings.

When I brought my nephews and nieces to the movies, all they want to watch was Epic, the only animation showing.. no matter how bad an animation looks to an 'adult reviewer', the kids will love it...

Families with kids will be forced to take their kids to watch Monster U...

Not but 3 years ago pixar's RT scores were the topic of the twon(the brad bird movies in particular).

Now, they are brushed under the rug. What a shame Dreamworks didn't use this time to gain the upper hand. They have actually been doing better work as far as I'm concerned. The Croods and Guardians were very enjoyable and original relative to the recent pixar ilk and sequels.

Kids loved Cars and....well....:o

Remember, they are trying to make a tidal wave with shock and awe type power, not gradual mudslide which has a snowball effect.

The concentrated push for the final week is to turn the mass awareness into definite interest by letting everyone know the film not looks awesome, but is awesome.

Right, you can't take kids out of seats with reviews. But you can take out anyone old enough to check out movies on RT before they go. :cwink:

Providing MOS is 80 or above anyways, otherwise it's a complete backfire...

The thing is, MU's audience wasn't really ever going to be made up of people old enough to check the RT score. Not the bulk of it anyways.
Then again, it hurt guardians.

I think MU will be fine box office wise and it is probably a cute movie but I have no desire to see it and I loved Monster's Inc.

First of all, I think the people who actually look at RT scores are the minority... in fact, maybe just a fraction... (and if you consider the worldwide market, even people online are a minority)....

Second, it doesn't matter what parents want.. it's what their kids wants.. when I wanted to watch another movie and my nephews insisted on Epic... you get the picture...:oldrazz:

it's easy. go online and check the booking in all your local cinemas... if all sold out, it will do great, if there are still plenty of seats... it will do like SR. :D

I never check RT scores. Don't know anyone outside of internet forums who does.

And my nephew is too young for MOS, so I'm looking forward to taking him to Monsters University.

I disagree with this. RT is very much linked to social networking sites i.e. the two giants being Facebook & Twitter due to Flixster (WB owns both Flixster/RT.) People are a lot more informed with RT than say 5-10 years ago.

So, RT ratings do play a role here with the informed movie goer (the social media people) but, if you're referring to the people who are uninformed (basically anyone who doesn't know how to use the Internet/Social Networking,) then RT won't make a difference. This type of moviegoer wants to just be entertained and because of the awesome action, Man of Steel delivers in that department.

Oh yeah, this has always been my intention. :whatever:

I never said "DC is better than Marvel" or anything like that. I'm not trying to turn this thread into a DC vs. Marvel flame war. I'm just saying that Superman gets a lot of hate for no reason at all.

Actually some of us Marvel fans like Superman, believe it or not. I was 9 years old when the first movie came out, and most people now don't know the impact that film had.

Yes I agree with you there has not been a modern age Superman movie made, the Donner films were based on Silver age Superman, and Singer's movie continued off the Donner films, although in fairness he tried to somewhat modernize it.

My wife and I, were huge fans of the Lois and Clark TV show. I didn't care for Smallville, but I had friends that liked it.

Bottom line, I like Superman as a character, but sure I'm going to compare this to Donners film. When I hear people say "this is the best Superman ever" and they're 22 years old, they don't understand what the Donner films meant back in the day.

Yes those films are dated, but I believe that those are the gold standard for Superhero movies.

This movie looks good, but my only reservation going in, is hearing from people that Lois Lane is barely in the movie. For a 2 1/2 hour movie, that has me concerned. I understand that this is a retelling of the character, but to me Superman always works best when it's centered around Lois and Clark.

Read an article by Google that said it can predict box office results (lol) but pretty much says what we already know. To look at how many trailer views a film has and that that is a clear indication of how a film will do.

So, let's rewind a bit. So far we have heard MoS is outpacing all other films of 2013 courtesy of Fandango -- which can be argued by the issues IM3 was having with their sales. Back in April, the MoS trailer #3 topped IM3 on iTunes and became the #1 most viewed trailer.

I'm just not sold that trailer views equate to box office sales. How many of those trailer views did people think negatively afterwards? We can't predict that. Anyway, MoS should still be taken seriously because $130-$150 Million is reachable IMO.

nothing is impossible. just the probability is high or low.

Even if you counted EVERYONE on facebook, it's still a fraction of people who will go watch MOS.. and a fraction of people on facebook actually goes to RT or hear about RT on facebook... so, in the grand scheme of things, it's next to nothing.. at best 20%...

And if you take into consideration of the International market (and the biggest being China, none of which is on FB, as FB is banned there), the numbers dwindle to nothingness...

WOM will come mostly from people who actually watched the movie and find it 'really good'... most people who actually checked RT will go watch a movie anyways whether it's stellar or not... at the end of the day, it's how good and how the GA perceived the movie to be...

Man of Steel FB page should hit 900K likes when the movie starts on Friday...

This...

1. Family with kids will most likely go watch MU... (kid-pressure)
2. People who check for reviews online are still just a fraction of the moviegoers...

This movie is going to make bank that much is certain and the movie should be taken very seriously. Hey, it could possibly make $180 million OW like one review said, lol.
