Wait till after Dr Strange, I'm sure the supernatural will be focused on then.

Although it seems like the vampire craze has died down, Netflix has the potential to replicate the success of The Strain seen on FX. Moon Knight could be interesting, but I could careless about the character, and Ghost Rider seems like a very expensive show given the heavy amount of cgi to create Johnny Blaze and his motorcycle.

Feige seems like a great guy, but I mean, people in the industry typically aren't going to talk smack about the person writing their checks. That is, if they want to continue to keep getting jobs.

Yeah but even the recent Russos statements made it clear that Ike and the committee were the hard ones to work with.

So Whedon is saying he would come back to direct a Marvel movie if it was a female lead. Personally I don't want him near a Black Widow movie. She was much better in the Russo movies and didn't have that God awful mom haircut.

Whedon is awesome. I hope he does come back to Marvel some day. He is one of the big reasons Marvel has become what it is today. I'm sure Age of Ultron was a learning experience for everyone involved. I still think the film is great- warts and all. And he did a great deal of justice to Black Widow's character. Her opening scene in The Avengers made me a fan. People here complain about everything.

I think he did a great job overall with the Avengers. I just found his BW lacking, especially after seeing what the Russos did with her.

Yeah I agree the Russos have elevated her character. Her role in TWS is actually my favorite of all her appearances.

I had a dream last night that Infinity War rolled in the tv show Lost into the MCU continuity because disney owns both. And that the beginning was Jack Shepard recovering the soul stone from the island. I know that sounds stupid, but in my head it was epic. Also AoS fans were pissed, which would be funny.

Well if you've read anything about Ike it's a miracle anyone can stand to work for him.

How about offering Whedon a Netflix show starring the newer female Blade? *eg*

I mean, sure. I wouldn't mind. As long as the original appears or is at least referenced.

If it works like the relevant comic, he'd be the older Mentor Figure, so yeah, he'd appear, and as a major character.

Aside from someone's personal opinion about it(I love AoU) you must admit that the movie didn't fall under its own weight like many sequels to worldwide phenomenons do. Just look at movies like X-Men 3,Spider-man 3,Spectre,the Pirates sequels and now X-Men Apocalypse. AoU more than held its own imo.

Whedon could direct Runaways. It has a young ensemble cast and a storyline much more fitting with his style than Avengers. It also would be on a smaller scale than that movie and probably wouldn't cost him as much energy. Plus he's familiar with the characters, as he's written for their comics, and he even brought up that that's one of his favourite things he has done in an interview last December.

Considering how many balls AOU had to juggle at once (be a worthy sequel to the first film and Phase Two as a whole, tell a good story in it's own right, set up not one, not two, not three, but FOUR future films, etc), it's something of a minor miracle that Whedon was able to hold it together as well as he did. '

It only somewhat started to groan under it's own weight by the end, as opposed to completely falling apart at the seems like many other such films have in the past.

It did far more than not fail. It's a really good movie. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but the film is certified fresh on RT so Whedon must've done something right. I personally like the first Avengers better but I still really like Age of Ultron and feel it is better than most CBMs out there. There are so many iconic moments in it. I don't pay attention to the haters.

I finally watched my second viewing of AoU right before seeing Civil War. A full year removed from the [unattainable] hype and expectations, it's a far better film than the credit it's given. The flaws are still there, but the achievements in the movie stand out more.

And really a lot of it's issues are more about the world-building that it has to try and do. It has to try and tease and/or set up Thor: Ragnarok, Civil War, Infinity War, AND Black Panther, while trying to tell it's own story, AND be a good followup to the first film. And it has more characters to juggle as well.

That's a lot to try to accomplish. And, for the most part, it holds together pretty well I think. It certainly doesn't fall apart like say, Spider-Man 3, or X-Men 3, or TASM 2, etc. And it had even MORE to balance than those films did, which makes that all the more impressive.

Yes it's not that bad. I enjoy it (have rewatched many times) even if it doesn't match up to the sky high expectations. I don't think those expectations were unattainable though, most would have considered their expectations met with a film on par with CW. After TDK's reviews there was no way it could live up to that hype, and especially the Joker couldn't be that good, but it did and he was to most.

I think that they were actually. Because fanboys seem to want it to be the most awesomnest awesome thing ever, and anything less was bound to disappoint many of them. Or at least that was the sense that I got. Also, AOU had to accomplish more than CW did, and juggle more stuff. So Whedon's task was even harder than the Russo's was I think.

Whedon had just as hard a job first time round having to intro the whole team. I can't speak for the fanboy population at large but my own expectations were similarly crazy for Avengers 1, AoU, CW and TDK. TDK beat those expectations, CW slightly outperformed them, Avengers met them and AoU fell slightly short. Even Whedon has regrets on AoU and probably would have done things differently. He's capable of better. And I'd restate that I still enjoy the film and regularly rewatch it.

I think it's worth mentioning that outside this microcosm of Internet geek culture, almost every Marvel movie, Iron Man 3 and Age of Ultron especially, are pretty well regarded amongst the general public. This bears repeating since everyone in this thread is speaking as if we're going against the grain by proclaiming Age of Ultron as a good movie. Don't let the other fans in other sections of the hype fool you.

Personally I love AoU the most out of any Marvel movies precisely because it juggles so much stuff.
