This is just awesome.

Saw this on twitter at work and went to the bathroom just to read the whole thing. That has me so excited.

A BW film is something that I've been wanting to see for years. She's a really interesting character with a long and mysterious backstory that they've only just begun to scratch the surface of. She's clearly earned the audience's approval and is played by an A-list actress, which could help sell the film. And you could make it with a relatively modest budget I think.

And I do find it amusing that one of the big defenses for why Marvel hasn't done a female-led film yet is "well none of their female characters are well-known enough to carry their own film." And yet, when you have a character who has become known to the audience (thus solving that problem), suddenly the argument is "well we've seen her in too many movies, give a new character her own film." So which is it, because those two ideas are completely contradictory?

Since Marvel Studios was still at the beginning of being an independent studio they partner with Paramount to distribute the film.

I'm aware. Its still funny looking at early films and seeing another studios logo there. I guess its all too easy to look at the behemoth that MARVEL STUDIOS is now [firstly due to the initial success of the movies and then after being bought by Disney] and forget what it was like in its infancy - I often wonder what would had happened if Iron Man had tanked - how would that have affected the loan etc?

Well if Iron Man tanked, cinematic universes would still not be a thing. Imagine that.

I love it so much.
It is a bit frightening that when this all started I was 23, am now 31 and Feige has storylines laid out until 2028...
It's the bittersweet thing about anticipating these movies, each time I watch one and start lusting for the next I realize that'll be me just a bit older so while I want to speed it up to get my fix the ravages of age don't appeal so much!

We have several posters here who have probably signed that petition.

What role do you guys want the Russo brothers to have in the MCU going forward? Assuming the Infinity War films deliver. Would you want them to direct another movie, if so, which character(s)? Give them a role like Whedon had?

I would give them a soley advisory role. Good as they are/may be, I want other film makers to get a crack at the franchise(s) the Russos have been helming for the sake of keeping off staleness or sameness of any kind.

I say the Russos should do X-Men if Marvel ever ever gets the rights back. *fingers cross*

That's what I'm thinking too. Kind of like what Joss was.

Regarding the general direction of the MCU over the course of Phase 3, I think I know what they're trying to do, and it would be awesome if I'm right. The Avengers are split in half (with one member potentially out of commission for good). The Hulk is MIA. Thor is going to discover that Loki is ruling Asgard, plunging that realm into chaos. Nothing is ever normal for Doctor Strange, so he's going to be constantly distracted. The Guardians of the Galaxy aren't in a position to do much because Earth isn't even on their radar, and the sequel might do something to incapacitate the Nova Corps.

The movies are systematically making Earth less and less ready for Thanos, while simultaneously deconstructing any back-up they may call for. It's a slow-building march of doom, and when the **** hits the fan, it's going to be ugly.

Also, in the first part of Infinity War, there needs to be a scene where Thanos kicks the ever-loving **** out of the Hulk. When all the machinations and bodyguards have failed, the Hulk has been able to beat down both Loki and Ultron with ease. If you want Thanos to be a threat, the quickest way is to show that "Hulk smash" is no longer a viable plan.

They deserve a break after Infinity War. They could be advisors, although I get the feeling that they're more hands-on than Whedon (who is a writer as well as a director) so I dunno if "here's a list of suggestions" is really their style. Whatever they do, they should have a lucrative career after IW. God bless 'em.

After Infinity Wars they definately deserve a break(if they want one) its basically the big finale of the MCU we've been waiting for. Theyre gonna pour everything they have into that film and its gonna be alot of work and stress. So yeah I think the Russos deserve a break.

There will probably be a new Avengera team post IW and I think a new team deserves a new director and tone.

The Russos have already had a break. They had their big break with Winter Soldier. No rest for the wicked. :o

Marvel's not evil what do you think they're gonna chain the Russo's to a table and force them to churn out genius. :funny:

I can't wait for Black Panther film, damn his introduction in Civil War was a huge runaway lift-off point for the character. Chad crushed it so much and was presently impressed by his portrayal, even his dialogue with his father as Prince T'Challa and introduction in costume facing off Bucky as The Black Panther on the roof-top into the under grown tunnel chase sequence.

My guess is Maya Hensen was the villain originally (as she is in the comics). I can only hope the split that sidelined Ike Perlmutter will prevent something like that from happening again.
