MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 5

if BP2 can introduce namor and we soon get silver surfer...then maybe the defenders are the next super group down the road.

maybe we can get hulk + strange teamup in DS2.

Yes that sounds great!!

I don't think we'll get a team called The Defenders in a movie. But I can easily see those characters teaming up in a movie as a one-time thing and just never giving themselves a name.

That would do me.

I have no doubt AOS will at some point mentions the events of Endgame but it depends on when the showrunners were told of the plans that the screenwriters had for Endgame.
That's basically my thoughts as well. Let's see halfway through this season if there are any mentions.

If they were told.

the last season of aos they had their own timetravel adventures with different rules to the mcu. This season is meant to have a 1 year break. Supposedly to get the snap out of the way and things back to normal. They will probably attempt to fix it one way or the other but think it's going to be a headache. Either they stick with the snap and just say they were lucky that none of the main characters were dusted. Or they change it to a 5 year break which has it's own problems. Unless they knew all along and have written it in. Be interesting to see.

I don't agree that the rules are different.

They even mention the theory of timetravel used in the movie, saying that it's possible going back in time just creates a different timeline for those who go back - to which the other person in the conversation calls those people lucky bastards. The future they traveled to is just a different path than the one they created after they changed it.

That being said:
I agree that they're going to have a headache if they didn't know the ending of Endgame and I suspect they weren't told the ending because the movies wanted to keep it very quiet. The easiest thing would be to set things five years in the future rather than one, but we'll see what they do.

Wheddon has said that they couldn't take into account endgame as they didn't know when the show would be aired.

Wow, not excited or happy about this at all. This essentially seals Ghost Rider's doom to be away from the MCU forever. Now we'll never see him in the movies. Why is Marvel TV still a thing? Does Feige have a say?
There is money to be made. Not as much as in movies, but there are only so many movie screens with almost unlimted TV outlets
I exist in the same universe as Barack Obama, but I've never appeared in a movie with him.
And there is the problem. The Runaways exist with President Obama and everyone else pending a Cloak and Dagger crossover with the Runaways, exist with President Ellis

Luke Cage mentioned Obama as well. I forget the exact fan timeline it created, but I think Obama came first. Luke Cage, in theory, could have been referring to Senator Obama.

The Netflix shows as well as AoS, Cloak and Dagger and Runaways are not canon, but that is going to change soon with the Disney Plus shows.

Agent Carter is technically MCU canon now.

Battle of NY was referenced in Daredevil S1 and Luke Cage S1. Pretty sure there was a newspaper article with pic of hulk from the battle hung on a wall

I like to think of those more as easter eggs. At best the Netflix shows are in their own pocket universe within the MCU. Where some events happened the same way while others didn't notice the Netflix shows stopped referencing the movies the further they wen't along anyway.

Speaking about the Netfllix shows I do wonder how they would've addressed the events of Endgame especially since

There was a five year time skip and it never got reset back to 2018.

Well I hope Marvel makes the netflix characters fully part of the mcu in 2 years when the wait time expires. If they're going to completly reboot them then so be it but just use them!

Yeah having shows on disney + is great and they'll be connected way more than the netflix shows seemed but please introduce them on film even if in small roles.

Cameos/small roles or references but something and maybe do a Defenders film at the end of Phase IV or in Phase V with the story of street level heroes getting together to stop King Pin, who has some connection to a big mcu villain with the end credits having them meet someone like spider-man

I was oddly excited to see the first character created for Marvel TV cross over into the MCU movies. I had been waiting for that moment since AOU!

It was always going to be a problem, the more films and episodes that came out the harder it would be to keep them all in line.

Yea, If Marvel has to reboot the Netflix, so be it. The characters are bigger than the actors

I prefer if they just show up in the Avengers and have the four of them share a scene together. i don't think a movie like defenders is necessary imo.

Curious why you think he would turn up in bp2? Isn't wakanda landlocked?

Presumably due to Shuri tech and vibramium natural resources Wakanda is now the land world's superpower. Throwing out the Alaska border anomaly it would be like the US and Russia looking over other nations and oceans as they confronted each other

True. Although i wouldn't think wakanda is responsible for damaging the oceans etc... We've also seen the wakandans armies fight in 3 films in quick succession.

We'll see. Hopefully after ffh we get a large slate of films and their titles so will have a better idea.
