Most disappointing movie expreience of your lifetime

And I also agree with matrix revolution and reloaded's fight sequences in CGI. It was the biggest mistake ever moving away from wirefu bullettime

I think the first time I learned that I could be disappointed/underwhelmed by a movie was The Matrix Reloaded. I was 13 years old, and my friends and I were *gigantic* Matrix fans. And then the Matrix Reloaded came along and I, along with most of the world was left saying "What the ****!?". The worst part is, I had taken my dad to see the film with me, because he hadn't seen the first Matrix and I wanted to convince him that it was a revolutionary, thought provoking film that changed action movies forever. And then he sat through Reloaded and had all of his suspicions and preconcieved notions confirmed and to this day he won't watch the first Matrix.

Is that a typo or were you really only 13 years old when The Matrix Reloaded was released?

Not sure what the most disappointing film was but Spider-Man 3 is up there. My gf and I walked out of the theatre and I wasn't pumped like after I saw the first two. From the moment it ended I really didn't have an urge to really ever rewatch the film.

Spider-man 3
and
Indiana Jones Kingdom of the crystal skull

i went in to both expecting fantastic films and walked out completely and utterly pissed

Spider-Man 3. By all means, it should have been good. X-Men 3 was disappointing too, but by the time it came out I didn't have much hope left in it, so it was a bit better than I expected.

Lady in the Water. Not disappointing in the sense that I didn't think it would be good, but a big letdown because it showed me that M. Night Shyamalan had completely derailed. I never saw The Happening, and I don't want to. Maybe The Last Airbender won't be bad since it won't be a suspense movie.

The Matrix sequels. My first time seeing them was when watching all three in a row. It really puts in perspective how lackluster the second two are.

Hulk. Back then, I was excited for every new comic movie, and this one was the first big letdown for me.

Batman and Robin. Even as a 10-year-old, I thought it sucked.

In retrospect, the Star Wars prequels. I was only 11 when Episode I came out, so I thought it was cool at the time. The second two were fun to see in theaters, but not really good movies. Plus, Episode I made II and III seem better by comparison.

Forgot a recent one, Punisher: War Zone. I defended the film from what I seen in the trailer, and I like my Schlocky action films as much as anyone. But damn, this film was a slap in the face to Punisher old-school fans, and was a lousy action movie to boot.

Yep, I was only 13 at the time. I didn't enter my state of cinephilia until about a year and a half ago. Luckily most of my friends love movies as much as I do, so I didn't sacrifice my social life by voraciously diving in to the world of film while watching as many movies as I possibly can.

I'd probably have to say Transformers 2. I expected something on par with the first one, which I still enjoy even now, but was treated to an unfunny, loud, and militaristic two and a half painful hours of in-your-face terribleness. I think the topper for me was that the crowd I was with was eating that **** up. Oh, and there were like 25 babies screaming the entire time. It was a 10:30 PM showing...the ****?

Phantom Menace - It killed my enjoyment in Star Wars, the first 30 minutes of Episode 2 was simply icing on the cake.
Matrix Reloaded - Such a huge letdown from the first movie. I still haven't seen the third movie since I don't care where the story goes or how it ends.
Batman Forever - Until Phantom Menace, I had never been so pumped for a film only for it to kick me in the balls. I saw the commercials for Batman and Robin and it was even ****tier. Then I heard the review of it on the Stern Show and they said it sucked.

Spider-Man 3, hands ****ing down. :BARF::down

Spider-Man 3 - I left the theater with this empty feeling thinking "this is how they conclude the trilogy?" This was the first time I was hyped up about a movie and left the theater disappointed.

I was pretty young when I saw Batman and Robin and The Phantom Menace so when I left the theater those two times, I will still pretty psyched about the movies. It wasn't until the second viewing of both films when I thought they sucked.

Heheh. It this thread had a poll Spider-Man 3 would walk it.

How could y'all not tell SM3 was going to be horrendous before you saw it? I remember facepalming to the TV Spots.

I would also consider Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four and X-Men 3, but they've grown on me since.

But The Dark Knight really disappointed me. I'm a huge Batfan, was crazy with the hype and viral games, but all that for not a whole lot in the end. I'm not saying it wasn't a great film with a good story, but it wasn't what I was hoping for it to be. It didn't leave me with the same sense that BB did, and I felt that compared to BB it was rather boring. Even now I mainly watch the prologue, Scarecrow bust, Hong Kong infiltration and interrogation scenes. The rest feels like filler to me, where as everything inbetween in BB didn't. Also, the chase sequence wasn't so thrilling, especially after having Nolan say it was going to be better then the highway sequence in the Matrix Reloaded. Again, I prefer the BB tumbler chase. Tag on the fact that there was no "theme", or anything powerful like Molussus throughout, and thats the final nail in the coffin for my disappointment.

Yeah okay... GG2 on the glider taking revenge... Topher getting engulfed... Sandman owning the **** out of the police and Spidey in the car chase... facepalms indeed.

The hilariously bad dialogue and over-use of CGI were what caused it.

What about the evil Peter dancing to prove his evilness?

Pirates 3. My Best Friend and I skipped out on an amusement park field trip to go wait in line for this all day(we got paid to wait). We had midnight tickets, we bought them 3 freakin' weeks in advance only to have disney give us the finger and add 8 o clock showtimes for the movie!!!!!and we were just chillin line while everyone else was waiting for 8 o clock. Then at 10 pm right before we went into the theater the local newspaper was going around interviewing people who had been in line since 6 pm (we got there at 8 freakin am!!!!!!!) and the article said they were "devoted fans" and they got their picture in the paper. Then, the my friends and mine's crushes show up to the theater, totally ignoring us and they stole our food. Then, during the movie my friend's crush had her "boyfriend" there. And if that wasnt enough, the movie sucked.

You sure this wasn't hell?

I knew it was going to be bad when they started shoe-horning villains in the movie. I mean three freakin villains for a 2 hour movie? Of course it was going to suck. And never mind that I couldn't stand Venom to begin with. When you get right down to it he's basically Spider-man's evil clone...boring.

Luckily I didn't see SR in theaters which I wanted to. When it came on demand I watched it and holy hell, it was so damn long and uninteresting. And the fact that it was a unecessary love letter to the Donner movies.

Supes has so much damn potential, even though he's not a favorite of mine, with today's special effects, you can create some of the greatest action sequences of all time. And what do wee do? We're still on ****ing Lex Luthor!

Only a few of these experiences strike me as experiences that should have been truly, truly disappointing in terms of "worst ever".

Ah well.

BATMAN & ROBIN for me. I didn't read reviews way back when, and I didn't follow movie production at all. So yeah. This was a massive disappointment. I was almost in tears by the time the museum sequence was over. Not tears of laughter or happiness.

Spider-Man 3.

The only movie where I actually was PISSED as I left the theater. I was so angry because the second one was such a great film and the last scene with Harry taking the mantle of the Goblin was one of the best teaser scenes ever. Even through all of the negative buzz and stuff, I still had faith and bought my ticket. Usually if I see a movie and it's bad, I just think "Wow, I wasted my money" or something like that, but I'm never legitimately pissed, but for this movie, I was more than that. Most disappointing movie experience ever.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Worst movie I've seen in theaters in recent memory.

And I sat through Batman & Robin and Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones (granted, I was five and ten, respectively, and had no idea what made a good or bad movie at the time).

Just as I thought, "The Phantom Menace" is showing up a lot in this thread. As disappointed as I am in the movie now, I can't even lie, I ate that **** up when I saw it in theaters. For the love of God, I was ten! That's the exact age group the movie was catered for!
