Ms. Marvel in the works? - Part 1

She could be the reason why he 'went native' and Yon Rogg/Ronan/Zarek's natural reaction is to eliminate her in order to regain their soldier, or punish him. Puts Mar-Vell squarely in the center though, it seems. Hmm...

What if at the same time Carol is protecting Lawson from SHIELD? That'd be an interesting us-against-the-world type of set up.
That's not a bad solution. Maybe Rogg and Vell are partners but Rogg wants to stay on mission to activate the Sentinel. Vell refuses and that's when the **** hits the fan. Eventually the Sentinel gets activated mortally wounding Mar-Vell in the climactic battle while Carol finishes it off with her full on powers at the end.

Thanks marc, she could also be Mar-Vell's sample to Ronan about the character/value/nature of humanity and Yon-Rogg could want her gone for that too. She's not just his attachment to humanity, she's his case for humanity. That lines up with her worthiness issue pretty well.

When you said "Went native" I thought of a noble savage movie, with white Americans as the noble savages. I totally just spit up sprite, everywhere. ****er.

lol! I guess that would be a reversal, hadn't thought of that, actually.

The reasons could be clouded and never fully explained why he is on Earth, but it could be revealed that the kree have some connection to Earth (never fully explained because it would take too long) and it could sort of be assumed that the Kree came to earth to invade it.
In later films, like a sequel perhaps, it could be revealed that the Kree soldiers led by Yon-Rogg were after Mar-Vell because he had a romantic relationship with their enemy's princess Annelle the Skrull princess that resulted in a child. Mar-Vell was stopping the Kree soldiers from finding his son (Teddy) who was hidden on Earth.
Of coarse this would make Teddy the star in that film and less Carol, so maybe somethng different. But I like the idea because it gives a new reason for him to be on Earth rather than invasion and introduces one of the Young Avengers.

Of coarse it could be done that the Kree were sent to Earth to wipe it out, like Mr. Sinister sent the Marauders led by Gambit to wipe out the Morlocks, because the Kree had influenced the Earth's evolution somehow and saw Earth as a failed experiment. That would then also bring in Ronnin the Accusser who would be sent to whipe out Earth along with a Kree Sentry robot and a small army of Kree soldiers led by Yon-Rogg.
The whole approach to how much involvement the Kree had in our evolution might need some tweaking, probably don't want to say the Kree were responsible for all the superheroes on Earth. Maybe simplify it a little more, maybe they are the ones who have been abducting humans and cows this whole time, and have experimented on a few, I don't know. But I doubt audiences will like the idea that the only reason there is a Hulk or Captain America is because of aliens.
But the idea is still good I think, they came to wipe out Earth because it was a failed experiment on their part, and that would bring in real heavy hitters for Carol and Mar-Vell to deal with, some real unstoppable odds for one human and one Kree soldier to face.

This is a rumor of a rumor. It's sort of like the early Eva Longoria Wasp rumors. We later found out that Wasp was in several early drafts, only to be removed from the film.

I wouldn't pay any mind to something like this until we're a little bit closer to shooting date. Maybe this time next year.

If Emily Blunt is ever going to play a Marvel character, it should be Jessica Drew, imo.

There are plenty of blonde american actresses. Why do they need to go for someone like Emily Blunt? Yes, I know she can dye her hair, but it's not like they have to resort to that as if there is a shortage of blonde actresses. Blunt isn't even remotely suitable for the part.

As for the other girl, I don't know her at all.

Emily Blunt looked most like Black Widow. She's missed her chance on that one. She could possibly work as Jessica Drew (who is also British).

Even though I am excited to here MS Marvel in some news! Even if it is rumours... Having Joss shape the character would probably be the best thing that could happen to Her...

The reason that i dont buy this though, is that Avengers 2 is still quite far, why would they look to cast her so early? Sure she has to train for the role, but thats like a 2-4 months depending on what she has to do...

If this is legit which i HIGHLY doubt, the only reason that i think they looking for a actress to play her, is that they aiming to introduce her in Ant-Man, (Which MIGHT start shooting in Jan), CA: TWS (Starts Shooting in March) or GOTG...

Just Wishful thinking i guess... :-)

I think they ran with a fancast posted on the website-that-shall-not-be-named. Silly rumorville...

They're both pretty fabulous actresses. Wilson, in particular, made me crap myself several times on Luther. She holds, even steals, scenes at times from Idris Elba.

That said, I really want Marvel to either cast closer to Carol's physical appearance or really go out of the box with this one.

Neither actress would be a good choice.

Yeah, neither is on the Ms. Marvel CBM facast, iirc. Definitely not Ruth. And The Daily Mail doesn't source CBM anyway.

Regardless, they're both really good actresses, I have no doubt that they could make great Ms. Marvels. It's said we're still distracted by things like hair color. I doubt that, if If Ms. Marvel is going to be in Avengers 2, that they would introduce her in Avengers 2. I could be wrong, but every inclination of storytelling I have screams that there's not enough time to introduce brand new powered characters in an Avengers film.

And if they were going to include Ms. Marvel in Ant-Man, Cap or the SHIELD TV Show, we should very well start expecting them to be casting her in the next couple months. Especially if they need the directors of Cap and/or Ant-Man and/or SHIELD to weigh in on the choice, depending on how much they'll need to work with her.

This is a good rumor, I hope they end up going this direction, and I think it'll work much better in the long run, whereas Wasp would have been cumbersome.

There was a fancast written by one of their more popular British contributors (Josh Wilding) and Wilson and Blunt were two of five possible actresses he mentioned. Also, isn't Daily Mail basically a tabloid? I'm not sure they've ever picked up casting scoops for Marvel movies before.

If true (I'm still taking it with a grain of salt) it's definitely an interesting route to go. And if Carol shows up, are we talking another alien invasion movie for TA2 with the Kree/Skrull war? Or would she be Captain Danvers prior to getting her powers.

I love the actresses myself, and they're phenomenal. I just want a WOC in a Marvel movie *keeping my fingers crossed for Jan*

The Daily Mail is a joke. It'd be like TMZ running a casting rumor

Going by "looks", and basing that on the generic figures of the comic books, is absurd. Hair color is also not particularly important either. I liked Alice Eve for this role, but the truth is there are many actors who could play Danvers. Her "looks" are totally generic hot blonde, which leaves the casting wide open.

The idea that there's a "perfect" actor for this (and other) roles is foolishness. Just like there isnt one "perfect" writer or artist for these character. Everyone has their favorites of course, but personally I want to be surprised by a fresh interpretation. Emily Blunt I think is capable of bringing something different to these overly objectified/sexualized characters (WW, Danvers,), something unexpected.

Dang, you're right, Ruth Wilson was on there. Well, be that as it may, they got us the pics of the IM3 Florida set with Mark17 and "Iron Patriot" side by side. So they can't be completely useless on the superhero spillage set.

What's a WOC? Woman of Color? Would love it if they did Asian Jan, but one can only guess where Jan will land with what appears to be a 60s Spy Ant-Man.

I guess it would be. Not sure if I'd discount anything they report as false simply because they use deplorable methods to get it though. If anything, I would assume that there is some truth to it and they simply exaggerated.

Exactly. There are some characters that are drawn with certain consistent features, not because they're copying some face, but they have features that help tell their story. Square jaws, or lean figures or slender faces. But the female heroes are all drawn completely interchangeably. I'm not sure how a person, outside of being overweight or having some exceptionally exotic look can look not-like-Carol-Danvers. No one can ever describe these features too me, they just call upon this reasoning to dismiss actresses until those actresses prove their action mettle and then everyone realizes 'oh, they do have the [superheroine] look!' It's called acting, great actresses, like Blunt and Ruth, can do it well.

This is how you guys sound. Who cares? If they can pull it off, the can pull it off. Maybe Marvel doesn't like the same actresses you do?

No. You should immediately discount anything coming from the Daily Mail. It is a joke. Trust.

It's probably just a rumor but with a little blonde hair dye I wouldn't be totally against Emily Blunt. Lord knows there are worse choices they could go for.
