It makes perfect sense. Nearly everything is driven by influence of Superman in BvS. Only this time Superman is viewed both from Clark's eye and those close to him AND humanity overall. So his own world became a bit more cramped, since we can't have movies last 5 hours. But Batman is more active in this film, so no wonder. Man of Steel is focused purely on Clark and his growth.

to me, it's more of a Dawn of Justice film~~?

Clark gets the sense of obligation to justice, trying to stop Batman as a reporter, but it didn't work. So he makes "superman" do something more than just saving people and caught up in Lex's scheme.

Bruce lets vengeance consumes him, making Batman take on a "criminal" based on probability, also caught up in Lex's scheme.

the confrontation brings about the need of Justice League, and the end of the film gives birth to true meaning of justice.

At this point I'm going the say the same.

But I hope his returns in JL would be epic enough to elevate that movie to the top of the list.
I hope JL is the best showing for all the Leaguers. (obviously will be for the new ones lol)

Hope this will bode well for WOM. I have a friend who is a not a big comic fan. Went with all three of this kids. He posted about it on Facebook. His first comment...."Do not listen to the critics. They all loved it. What was nicer is that he had 8 replies....All people who also loved it.

Okay. Second viewing finished!

One thing I noticed this time around was when Wallace was gearing up to go spray painting, there's a drawing or photo of Superman lifting a car ala Action Comics #1 on the wall in front of him with all the newspaper clippings.

Of course. What I meant was the best movie for a character doesn't to have be a solo movie. I think TA is the best Hulk movie, for example.

Another thing I caught second time around was The Flash saying "You have to find us" to Bruce. That part is kinda loud, lol, it was hard to hear.

Agreed. And yes, that was by far my favourite appearance of Hulk on film.

Wow, do you get cold when it's wet?

Nope. It's just a little mist sprayed on your face, it's not like they throw a bucket of water at you :woot:

But I did feel a little cold with the wind effects.

Yeah I'm exactly the same.

I mean, it's still so far off 'my' Superman that I almost feel guilty saying it... but I just loved the storyline as an elseworlds tale, the way everything played out and each characters role in the final outcome. Everyone had their part to play :)

The tone reminded me a lot of Kingdom Come and some of Alan Moore's stuff. A bit of Azzarello's For Tomorrow and a sprinkle of For All Seaons in there as well. And I can imagine Eisenberg's Lex as the Lex in All-Star Superman.

Totally agreed, especially 'For Tomorrow' with Superman's doubt and introspection.

And yeah it definitely seemed like that's what they were going for with Lex :)

Sounds cool

As I said to BH a few months ago, I've never read much solo Superman GN's/TPB's, could anyone recommend any serious/darker stories for me to get a hold of?

Awesome to hear that. :yay:

I caught that, too. :woot:

Kingdom Come & Red Son, to start with. The whole Death and return saga is a very good read too.

I think one of my favourite lines was:

"Must there be a Superman?"

"...There is."

Yeah I feel the same. I can't do a 'rate the Superman films' thing because they just aren't comparable.
True.
But for me, for all of the criticisms that SR,MOS and BVS get, Nothing beats Superman III & IV for me.
I mean, there are bad choices and bad storylines but sometimes a movie be be just plain Bad!

Another detail I picked up on (noticed it the first time, but it was made more evident) was that every time Bruce had a nightmare you could faintly here the sound of the world engine. I'm not sure if you hear it during the opening scene, but it's there every other time. Also, and I'm sure it's been discussed extensively, when Bruce wakes from the Flash "dream" his papers are still floating in the air. So was it a dream??.....;)

I just saw a comment on r/DC_Cinematic that I think it's worth sharing here:

People will complain about the character depictions for Superman and Batman in this film but the ending of this movie really crafted the iconic heroes that people know and love. Superman proudly declares Earth as his home and he selflessly acts to protect it. Batman seeing a supremely powerful alien be as human as him, and embody the notion of what is good in all people, decides to believe in the world again turning against the cynical and cruel mindset that he had crafted in himself.

Spot on.

This movie has so many little details, so many little and subtle layers (which sometimes are just a line of dialogue) that, together, add more sense and meaning to the overall story.

I did love the sound of the world engine throughout his dreams! But yes, I don't think the flash part was a full on dream based soely on the the fact that there were papers flying around the batcave.

Yeah, I noticed the WE sound as well. The Flash - I think he actually appeared in front of him, not a dream. The dude's a time traveler after all.

Flash talking to him wasn't a dream.
