No Time To Die (Bond 25)

Maybe they brought in Hans Zimmer as a nod to Dr No's missing hands.

For a #MeToo age, they could've called this film "No Means No" which would've also hinted at the title really meaning Dr No.

I feel like Dr. Maybe is more appropriate. Like, he might kill you but no one is all bad. So maybe that’s why he let Madeline live.

Dr. Maybe is what you are if you're not sure if you've passed your PhD or medical school.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. She's too new of an artist to tackle a Bond theme IMO. Artists like Adele and Sam Smith had a few years of prominence before handling a Bond theme.

And Smith's was godawful.

Agree with that. Not only were his vocals unsuitable, but the lyrics portrayed Bond as needy, which is something he should never be. The song dragged and was far too emo. Quite possibly the worst Bond song ever, although Jack White and Alicia Keys weren't good either.

plot twist:

Billie Eillish won't do the theme song but instead she'll be a Bond girl.

If it turns out she's gonna do the Bond theme, I'm bracing myself for "Bond Guy" puns

Billie Eilish will perform the theme song for the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die. The 18-year-old multi-platinum selling and GRAMMY® Award nominated singer has written the title song with her elder brother; fellow multi GRAMMY® Award nominated FINNEAS. Billie Eilish is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song.

“We are excited to announce that Billie and FINNEAS have written an incredibly powerful and moving song for No Time To Die, which has been impeccably crafted to work within the emotional story of the film,” said producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Eilish said, “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock”. FINNEAS adds, “Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

“There are a chosen few who record a Bond theme. I am a huge fan of Billie and FINNEAS. Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I cannot wait for audiences to hear what they’ve brought – a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come,” said Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Idk...getting Billie Eilish kinda seems...desperate. I've never heard her songs, but I know she's really popular and i know that people think she's actually talented.
But getting someone this new and fresh on the scene and more popular with younger people just seems kinda weird and like trying to get younger people interested.

We'll see.

She’s got social cred with the kids and they’re trying to make this Bond hip and pandery so the Eillish decision seems to be carrying on in the same vein.

From day one it’s been clear they’re trying to modernize this franchise rapidly - what better way to do it than using an artist them young Gen Z kids like.

I mean getting a hot or new artist for a Bond theme isn't exactly new. Bottom line, they want a hit song. Sometimes it works from this, other times it doesn't. She's pretty talented though. Listening to one of her songs a month ago I thought I wouldn't be surprised if they got her. It's got potential.

And Smith's was godawful.

Smith had the WORST Bond song of all time, and yet they won a ****ing OSCAR! If there was ever an indication that the Academy Awards are a joke, that was it. Well, that and the fact that they seem to think that only white people can act and only men can direct.

Anyway, in terms of hot new artists, I actually think Lizzo could do a good Bond song. "Cuz I Love You" almost sounds like a Bond theme to me.

I'm fine with Eyelash doing the theme, but I'm one of the few people who liked Sam Smith's song.
