A traveshamockery.Oh my God what is happening.
that is in reference to the rumours started on 4chan, these ones are different. For example the 4chan ones said the film has a prologue about saurons past, whereas the onering.net forum members spoilers say the film opens with smaug
I am reading the info over there and apparently this person also had info on AUJ before its release and that info was extremely accurate. So maybe he shouldn't be so easily dismissed.Im still calling BS. There has been one screening and I have zero reason to belive members of theonering.net were invited to a private screening.
Victor Domashev is responsible for this ****

So a forum user is only a forum user? That is a bit bizarre no? Whatever the person does for a job might give them a source that is accurate. Also the poster apparently isn't a regular. Only showed up before AUJ and just reappeared. Maybe that is the reason.Im pretty sure there were more advanced screenings for AUJ to show off the new 48fps. Jackson wouldnt have invited a poster on the forum before he invited the staff of the site and the staff would have mentioned going even if they werent allowed to talk about the film. So as of now I think we all need to just take this persons claims with an everest size grain of salt.

To be honest, many of the literary fantasy epics seem to be following the same trend, Wheel of Time is a series that is probably too long for film, The Dark Tower project is still facing difficulties, but there are now rumors of a Game of Thrones movie, hopefuly a new story set in that universe.
If you're willing to go outside simply literature, there is potential in other types of media, Berserk for example would be amazing to see done on the big screen, would love to see people's reaction when the eclipse part came in.
Berserk, at least the Golden Age, would be better suited for a multi-season HBO series. It'd allow for all the characterization that IMO is necessary for the Eclipse to be as powerful as it was. It's like the Red Wedding x1000, and I think it'd work better as a season 3 ender than maybe a 20 minute scene in a feature film.
I think the main problem is budget, also, the structure of most arcs would be difficult for a tv, and while you would have to cut or change some things, i think it's more fitting of a movie's structure.
Golden Age would probably need in least 2 realy long films, possibly shot back-to-back like Red Cliff and Kill Bill. Things had to be changed for the Lord of the Rings movies, i don't think they would need to literaly adapt a panel for panel, that actualy didn't work so well for Watchmen.
With the Berserker armor, all those demons, etc i realy don't think tv would be the best medium to tell the story.
I would kill to see movies of the Dark Materials trilogy that weren't dreadful.
I just wish Hard covers didn't cost so much.
I remember that 12 book set they put out when LotR was first announced and had to turn it down because of price.

Solomon Kane desperately needs a sequel.
The future of Conan hangs in the balance.
Well, that is true, TV effects have been constantly improving, but i'm still not sure, Berserk has such an epic story that i'm not sure you can realise all that in just a tv show, while on the other hand, the themes are indeed difficult to pull off in just a series of movies.
The pacing is a problem though, you can do Golden age arc on tv, the beginning is also a bit more episodic, but the past 2 arcs have had various points where it's just big battles, and unlike with GoT, they're not battlefields where you can constantly change focus from different characters, in Berserk it's usualy just the main character having a solo fight with an apostle, which i think is more fitting for a movie.
Ron Howard's plans for Dark Tower would probably be the most fitting way to adapt Berserk.
Haha you can't win with adapting Berserk then!
I think either Michael Moorcock's Elric novels, Steven Erikson's Bauchelain and Korbal Borach novellas or Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos novels would work well on film. All three series are drastically different from Tolkien.
After GOT has finished, I wonder if studios will be jumping on Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow and Thorn or Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogies. Both were inspirations for Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire.
I forgot to check at Barnes and Noble today, was too busy getting my daughter the four book Divergent set and a Agent Coulson pop bobble head. lolI bought my hardbacks back in the 70's....I don't remember the price, but considering I didn't have much money back then the price must have been pretty good. I haven't even checked the price on new editions.
