I really enjoyed how boisterous and animated the Goblin King was. The effects work on him was outstanding and it took a lot of balls to feature the details of his face so unflinchingly.

Are all 3d versions of this film in 48fps?
No. In fact, the vast majority are not.
Good. Thanks.
I've read some people complain about the inclusion of the songs in the movie (one person at the Hype, but not in this thread....said it was one of the worst things about the movie)....and that brings up personal preference and opinion. My wife and I are fans of Tolkien's books. Over the years, there are times where we are doing the dishes together...and we sing the THAT'S WHAT BILBO BAGGINS HATES song. So seeing that in the movie was a wonderful moment for me. I have heard from several others on here it is a wonderful moment for them as well. So....some people are disappointed in the movie because it included a song that is in the book and loved by many. That's their preference.
A couple of thoughts....

I've also read where where some people have complained about the traveling scenes. That they are just padding and boring. I personally think back to watching the movie yesterday and saying to myself while those scenes played....wow, beautiful, wish I was there.......again, personal preference. That's the way it goes with life. What you love....someone else hates....what you hate....someone else loves.
LOts of great acting, lots of great effects. I'd go see it again, easy.
I love how Gandalf just pretty much saves the day...numerous times. hehe.
It was incredibly badass when he showed up and saved them in Goblin Town.
Thorin is a prick from the beginning, starts loving Bilbo again, and then becomes a prick all over again in the book. How is this a valid criticism of the character in the movie when it comes straight from Tolkein?
Bofur, Balin, Fili, Kili and the others more than make up for Thorin being a dick.
Love it.

Just saw it in high frame rate and it was leagues better than regular frame rate. I think the critics are being way too harsh on it mainly because they know how films are made - I highly question they would have such concerns if they were a regular theater goer. The image was better for the majority of it - just like looking through a window basically at many times throughout. I went with my Mom who commented that the pictures does look clearer. As a guy who's been on studio film sets, studied film, and work in the industry - yeah, I took notice but only because I knew how things work. I've seen first hand what sets are made of. For example, if you're looking at some of the caves to probably be made out of styrofoam - you'll probably take notice of which ones are and which ones aren't. But for a regular viewer who doesn't look for things like that and doesn't even know? I doubt they'd notice that. Only thing they'd catch was fast movement which was only in the first ten minutes or so, overall a much clearer picture and a true window into Middle Earth.

Considering there are many people here on the boards who really disliked the HFR presentation, are they not regular people?
