Days of Future Past "Only have one more new character" in sequel says Vaughn

But what are the odds that there would be two blond mutants named Emma with diamond mutations? Actually, I'm not even sure what about Emma Frost being in FC contradicts about her in XOW? Is it her age?

As for Xavier's paralysis, perhaps Hank or someone else invents a temporary cure for it.

Well, at the time of XMO:W, those rescued mutants would have been some of the ones in the First Class movie that was, at that time, being scripted by Josh Schwartz.

At the time XMO:W came out, there was no continuity issue with Xavier's baldness or disability or with Emma Frost.

What happened is that First Class decided to tell a story that contradicted those things. It doesn't mean XMO:W or X3 got it wrong because they came first.

Well I guess promo materials are more official than what actually happened in the movie then.

That scene of Angel as part of the X-Men in X-Men: The Last Stand was certainly awesome. Cuz I mean:

Obviously that was Emma Frost in the movie, but contradicting a cameo that wasn't even NAMED IN THE MOVIE (go ahead, watch the movie and tell me where she is referred to as Emma Frost, or even "EMMA" for that matter) is hardly throwing the movie out of continuity.

Are you comparing a cut scene/promo shots with the identity of a character? :D

And this matters because?

Some people are fine with the Emma thing, some aren't. I don't think the two sides are going to kiss and make up.

I am saying that when a character isn't even named in the freaking movie, it's hardly a contradiction of any significance when another movie comes in, uses that character again in a capacity that contradicts her prior appearance, and actually does the character a level of justice.

But people wanna run around and scream "OOOOHHHH MYYYYY GOOOOODDDDD EMMA IS IN FIRST CLASS IT IS TEH REBOOTZ!!!!!!!!!!!111"

She has the same power as Emma Frost. She has the basic appearance of Emma Frost. She was promoted as Emma Frost.

That doesn't mean the movie is being tossed out of continuity because the new film comes along and contradicts a nameless cameo.

I guarantee to the people who aren't familiar with the comics, they aren't going to see the 2 different Emma Frosts and realize they are the same person.

That is true. I am just sure plenty of people want it tossed out of continuity because of how laughably bad the film was.

It can't be unmade, nor will the DVDs, Blu-rays and box sets be recalled. If you or others wish to forget it, or if subsequent films do not follow on from it, that is fine by me and doesn't really matter.

At the time, they were gonna go ahead with X-men First class with Emma and Scott at the Academy. The actor who played Scott even believed he would've started filming the movie last year. We know how Wolverine turned out and I doubt Singer would want anything to do with it. He even want to recast the actor who played Gambit.

The reason the actress is cast in the movie in the first place is because she was friends with Hugh's wife.

Seeing Angel, Cyclops in X-suit was definitely misleading !

Angel was in his X-suit when he flew over Magneto at the very end of X3...

Simple. If they want, they can explain that she's Emma Silverfox, Kayla's sister. The X-Universe is full of mutants with the same powers (in 5 movies we have Nightcrawler, Azazel and Wraith, for example). Emma Silverfox is only a coincidence: she's called Emma like Emma Frost, she has the "diamond" powers like Emma Frost...But she's not Emma Frost, Emma Silverfox. And they retcon that error.

They dont even need to explain it. The only people that are gonna notice are the fans who study these movies. Nobody elses knows that those are different versions of the same character.

Its why Beast works in First Class despite his X2 appearance, and why they could bring back Psylocke if they wanted to.

So are we all agreed that they should screw continuity for the sake of having excellent sequels to X-Men: FC?

Only if they make it clear so that the public and fans don't have any grounds for confusion or debate.

The only issue I've heard from mainstream viewers who have seen First Class is when they ask why Xavier was bald and walking in XMO:W. That's the only thing they have raised - not any of the other continuity contradictions like the other Emma or any of the other stuff.

If they are going to create a new 'branch' of film continuity from now on, they have to make it clear from the outset.

Nope. Continuity with the other 4 films is very important to me.

Retconning some minor details here or there I don't mind. But remaining consistent with the other films is very high on my list of priorities.

I personally would love for it to be Storm, although I doubt it will happen, but I can picture a stellar opening scene in Egypt introducing her backstory. Jean Grey and Gambit would be my second and third choices.

There's only one promo pic where he's actually wearing the X-suit, the rest are all photoshopped.

Angel's not in an X-Men uniform. He's in a white or grey long sleeve tee.
