Optimist Prime: Discussion thread for those looking forward to the movie

Frank Welker may yet be Megatron since the information your pulling from is over two months old. However to be fair I was always more of a David Kaye fan since his Megatron from Beast Wars is practically Shakespearean in his brillance.

Welker and Cullen (Megatron and Optimus Prime)

Kaye and Chalke (Megatron and Optimus Primal)

Frank Welker would definitely go into my "good move" category though if they cast him. Certainly much the same as casting Cullen.

However were they to go with Kaye it would be much needed to fit the dialogue to BW Megatron's style of speaking, yes.

So far I like the cast, especially Megan and Shia who seem a good fit for their roles in the script. Most appropriately cast is actually (I'm getting flamed for this) is Bernie Mac...who IMO doesn't get credit enough sometimes...his part is small yet entertaining and Transformers (both comic and cartoon) has had it's share of sleezey car salesmen, so he should be fun to say the least.
THanx for the info.

I so think they casted Bernie Mac spot on yet his part will probably get slightly over looked. I cant wait to see his role as well as Shia and that delicious Megan

It's obvoiusly Bay in an internet diguise. :whatever: Lol. Anyway I'm happy with the same things that Tad said.

Well, it looks like Tad created another profile so he can back himself up.

Just kidding. (I hope). Seriously though, I wasn't REALLY implying he worked for Michael Bay. It's just that all of the things he said were SO optimistic that they came off a bit fake. Most people, no matter how good they expect a movie to be, are at least a little bit cautious about backing it 100% because they can easily be let down by the simplest things. When you take the position of "everything about this movie will kick the crap out of the source material because that was a bunch of garbage" you're not only going to make enemies in the fanbase, but also set yourself up for disappointment.

Things I'm looking forward to:

Optimus Prime...seeing him on the big screen will be sweet. I personally like the look and can't wait to see him kick ass. I also love that he's voiced by Cullen.

Megatron... whatever his final design turns out to be, if they get his personality right, I'm cool with it. I also like how they aren't going to ignore the rivalry between him and Starscream. That's important.

I think Shia Labouf is a good choice for Stan... I don't understand all the negativity towards him. Now granted, I haven't read the script (because unlike some people, I don't like going into a movie knowing all of the major plot points), but from what I remember about this character on the TV show, he seems to be a good choice. I liked him in Constantine.

Megan Fox is SUPER hot. I don't know if she can act, but to be honest, I don't even care.

The new Camaro is in it. I love the new design, so it will be cool to see it in action.

Michael Bay... dare I say this... IS a pretty good action director. His films ARE very light on plot, but as far as action sequences go, I think he usually does pretty well. And let's face it... this is Transformers were talking about. I watched the old movie recently and they seriously couldn't go five minutes without fighting over something.

I have never watched a Michael Bay action sequence and felt like I was watching something real. There is no pain or struggle. They're filmed in such a way that completely removes the viewer from the situation (also called bad moviemaking). In short, no believability.

Cameron, Paul Verhoeven, Scott, (and Spielberg when he tries)... now those guys are good.

[edit] Oh yea, thread topic: Well, I'm looking forward to Bernie Mac making me laugh in the movie.

I disagree and not all that subtle

This movie is gonna rule.

I will probably see it 10 times in the theater.

The script rocked, and I dig most of the designs.

So happy to post in this thread, great job Hunter Rider.

peace,

Overman

To be honest, i've been excited about this movie since we even heard it was going to be produced, and I still am looking very much forward to it. I can't wait for it to hit the big screens, this will be one film i'll probarbly check out a few times in theatres, aside SM-3 of course.

I like the script, designs and everything i've seen so far.

747 can't arrive fast enough.

You disagree that James Cameron, Paul Verhoeven, and Ridley Scott are good??? Wow. Or do you mean you think Michael Bay is up there with them? (double-Wow).

No

I disagree with your view on Bay's action sequences and i think he is a lot better director than you give him credit for, shouldn't wow you though

i don't think he's as good as those mentioned who i rate at the top except Verhoven who always struck me as gratutious and crass in his style.....this isn't the place for this though

Back on topic......I bet the popcorn will be REALLY good on July 4th.

And the nachos. Don't forget the nachos. Mmmm.

Just as good as when i saw Godzilla and The Hulk ...:whatever:
I defend Hulk. Hulk was good up until the last 30 minutes when whoever was writing it forgot you're suppose to end movies in a climatic way. However as characterization, cast and getting both the heart and soul of the comic goes...it was very on point.

Negative posters stay out

This post/thread/idea is made of ‘the win’.

I'm not one way or the other on this movie, but I just want to voice my approval of hunter's choice of thread names.

Agreed.

This movie looks like it'll be a fun time. I'm glad Megatron isn't a hand gun because for a live action flick that would look rediculous.

Yeah, didn't Spike's actor say he was a nuke or somthin'?

THanx for the info.

I so think they casted Bernie Mac spot on yet his part will probably get slightly over looked. I cant wait to see his role as well as Shia and that delicious Megan

I'm going to be frank, you just reminded me of the fact that he's in this movie. I'm a little surprised, to be honest, I'd completely forgotten until now.

Things I like:

•The trailer.
•The designs (Something brand new).
•The idea of Spike's grandfather on a frozen Megatron's finger (I swear, the images that pop into my head kind of scare me).

i guess even the haters will admit that having spielberg on the team is something good right ? :)

Well, that depends on the final product. I almost dislike everything I've seen and read so far. I wonder how exactly Spielberg is going to influence the Transformers.

Well he has contributed the ET like eyes that most of them have

Please... PLEASE! Tell me that's not true.

And he also wanted the storyline to primarily be about a boy and his car (Sam and BB), almost in a similar fashion to ET. i wouldnt be suprised if they jump across the moon and BB's chest starts glowing.

Really can't wait. The script is GREAT, and these action sequences are going to likely beat most of the action sequences in the rest of the summer films.

From an optimistic point of view:

No matter how much complaining we do about this film, the film makers are not going to listen. The studio didn't listen to legions of James Bond fans when they lobbied against the casting of Daniel Craig. Sony didn't listen to Spider-man fans when they ripped the internet apart with hate mail because Spidermn was given orgainic web shooters instead of mechanical ones. In both examples, the films turned out just fine. If anything, the filmmakers are using these two instances to help them stay on the track they've chosen, and ultimately conclude that the fans don't know ****......

I really, REALLY like Blackout. He's one of the best looking characters in this movie from what I've seen so far.

000q36yr

Blackout does look pretty nasty.

I just wish he had the Decep logo on his chest like the toy.
