Optimist Prime: Discussion thread for those looking forward to the movie

I predict this movie will own the summer.

Spidey will underwhelm. Pirates will perform moderately. Shreck will flop.

Transformers will rule them all.

I don't see Shreck flopping. Unless it's downright horrendous.

And if by moderately you mean $1 billion dollars... then maybe you're right. I don't think anyone sees Transformers breaking the 300-400 million mark. Definately not with the bad buzz the movie has already. Almost everyone I mention Transformers to rolls their eyes.

I have had the complete opposite reaction.....Also the buzz on the movie is great as far as what regular ppl care aobut, the meida both print and TV have been hyped on it,all the film sites and mags that saw the footage at Showest said it was amazing, the only bad buzz is from fanboys and that's the case on every movie of this kind since the net arrived except on Batman Begins.

anyway this is not a discussion for this thread so if you want to debate it further please create a thread for the topic:up:

i gotta agree with hunter. most of the people i know who "roll their eyes" when i mention the TF movie are TF fans, specifically fans of G1.

everyone else i know seems to think TF will end up being an awesome flick. i can't facking wait!!!

I'm a transfan. I'd watch the 80s cartoon on tv whenever I could catch it. I used to have a diecast optimus toy that now i can't find (my dad must have thrown it away, the bum) that thing's worth money now. I'd watch beast wars every morning before school on my little piece of crap black and white tv I used to have... I love transformers. so I'd be crushed to bits if this movie sucked, and I can understand completely what the negatron's stance is on this.

I will not however, blindly lose my cool and not give Bay a chance.

And with these mixed reviews coming out for spidey 3, it seems my prediction might be coming true. Go Transformers!

history repeats. the fans that dont like the movie dont know people that are happy about the movie.

I'm a Transfan as well! I've loved Transformers since the beginning. I loved Beast Wars even though it had it's moments. I could even tolerate some of Beast Machines. I must admit I'm not into the new Transformer shows like Cybertron. I can't stand the fact that it takes them 30 seconds to transform while lines of light gleam in the background. I get it! They're transforming! I did follow the comics that came out from DW and enjoyed them greatly.

That being said, I am sooooo looking forward to this movie. I truly hope it's a success. That doesn't mean I'm expecting it to. I want to view this movie objectively and not subjectively which I think is the problem a lot of TransFans that roll their eyes have when thinking about this film. They are swayed by their nostalgia. They refer back to a time when things were simpler and they weren't as analytical as they are now. They say they look forward to this movie and want it to be a success, but for every rarely seen compliment they may give this movie, they take it away with another negative comment. That, in my opinion, isn't a very hopeful stance to have in regards to this project.

Personally, there are far more important things going on in this world to worry whether Bay did this or Bay did that or if one transformer is taller than the other. I just want to be taken on a journey with my favorite transformers. I just hope it's a great one! (And yes, Bumblebee is still one of my favorite transformers even if he's taller than Jazz.)

I agree. It looks like they've captured the action and personalities of the transformers!

Well, to be fair had things not gotten lost in translation between Hasbro and the animation team over in Japan the Unicron trilogy would have been much better. And to be honest I like Armada once it got off the ground...

Just wondering if anyone who's seen the comic images of the new Megatron agrees with me.
I think he looks downright evil, but with a royalty to him and a feeling of "only the strong should survive" about him.

I think he looks incredible.

agreed. Makes G1 Megs look like a pansy. This is the way he SHOULD have been.

i think it's a big improvement over the initial concept we saw. i'm sure he'll gain many fans once the movie comes out...

Pretty much agree with ya, Spidey 3 is going to pi$$ off alot of Venom fans who were looking forward to it...
because of his appearence being little more than just a glorified cameo and quick death
...and get bad press from that, Pirates will attract more women who want to see pretty femme boys banging their swords together, and Shreck wont make a dent, same ol', same 'ol stuff in it.

Transformers is going to be "The One" this summer, biatching Fanboys aside.

Out of the Transformers in this movie...who have you heard of?

Optimus, Megs, Bumblebee, Starscream. Those are the TFs that I know.

I know the names of the others, but I don't know what their characters are like, such as Jazz, Barricade, Brawl (Bonecrusher?), etc.

By the way, this is a hilarious fan-dubbed TF video, like Juggernaut *****!

The hype is really f-up! Don't know why it posted several times.

i agree.

I think Spidey 3 could of been hampered by some marvel political turmoil, hence, why there's so much to it.

IF bay can deliever, then good for him.

Ah, weeks later I do indeed feel like my little prediction's coming to fruition.

though as boyscout pointed out, I didn't factor potter into the equation. Still I'm banking on the general belief that people will prefer a new dish this movie season.
