Optimist Prime: Discussion thread for those looking forward to the movie

O my FU@King CHRIST!

this movie just looks better and BETTER!!!!

IF... and thats a bif IF, Bay can manage to deliver a story/plot/performance to equal the quality of the visuals...

Transformers could be a movie in the same league as the LoTR movies!

Hmmm, that could never happen, robots just don't have emotional pull the different races in LOTR do. Also the actors in LOTR will far outperform those in Transformers.

I wouldn't go that far, but it could be a fun roller coaster ride of a movie.

Well... you see.. I think that Transformers WILL be a fun roller coaster of a movie, even if the story/script plot etc... isnt up to scratch...

purely because of the look and action...
I doubt it giong to suffer the same fate as Spidey 3 and POTC 3, which both fell short due to the convulted storylines...

TF will.. be a "simpler" film...

However... IF and as i said.. its a BIG IF... Bay manages (for once) to bring us good performances from the cast (which apparantly Shia delivers) aswell as a well balanced script, non too cheesy script etc... then this movie could be a master piece...

of course... If the producers think... "Well it looks fu'kin brilliant, lets not bother trying with the rest of it"... then we will see a perfect opportunity wasted!

Will they???? is that a fact?
youve already seen the movie then?

Plus i dont think it takes a whole lot to "out-Act" Orlando bloom to be fair

Im not saying TF will be some shakespearin master piece..
It doesnt need to be...

Im merely saying if they put as much "effort" in to the rest of the movie, as they obviously have into the visuals... or they some how managed to deliver a script/performances which match the quality of the visuals we have seen so far... and they dont end up relying on the visuals alone, to carry the movie...

Then we'll be in for a treat!

Unfortunatly from the script I read there are some embarrisingly cheesy lines of dialogue. Nothing the Transformers themselves say is bad it's on the human front.

How would u consider this movie a masterpiece? Even if Shia and other actors give their best performance, they can only give out their best with what they can work with. I don't see how Spidey 3 fell short in acting performance. I think the script was bad and just all over the place. It wasn't well thought out and organized. It had too many things going on at once with too many characters not given proper screen time. If the script was better I think Spidey 3 would had been much better. I just don't see Transformers being a masterpiece of a movie. I don't think all parties involved in this movie had any intentions on making it a epic masterpiece sci fi movie. It will just be an all out action fest with a simple direct story. A family flick. But, a kick @ss family flick. :woot:

Was that the script posted on here ages ago?

IF so i read that as well... and you are right

there was some cringworthy lines...
but wasnt that supposed to be a first draft or something?

I though id heard there have been revisions since then?
but i could be wrong

To be fair... I think i'll probably enjoy this movie...
from everything ive seen/heard so far...

I guess i just hope im genuinely surprised, when i do finally see it...
...I really want to think.... "regardless of the unecassary changes and all that rubbish.. that was a brilliant Transformers movie"

I agree... which is why i said... IF they bring out the best in the actors involved (which apparantly they may have done with Shia, at least) ... ASWELL AS a well balanced/non cheesy script.

See.. theres to much "I think" in that sentence... I agree with you to a point, I feel we will not get the epic movie we could, im just kinda hoping to be surprised.

How would u consider this movie a masterpiece?
As mentioned before... the emotional connection to this movie could swing it either way.

Good cast performances.

Well balanced script, between the levels of emotion, humour, seriousness etc... and without too much... Gung Ho yanks save the day (ala Independance day)

We need to be routing for the Autobots... because we need to believe that these robots could save us... and will make every effort to do so

We need to fear the decepticons... and not just because they "look evil"

We need to feel the Peril which both autobots and humans are facing, and we need to care about the outcome.

Otherswise... Its just bign eff'ing robots blowing the **** out of each other and NOTHING more!

When I said "I think" I'm just trying to soften my criticism about the movie being a masterpiece. I know it won't be a masterpiece based on the trailers we've seen and interviews we've heard. There is to many cheesy one liners and the feel of the trailers give that popcorn flick vibe. However, I don't know what you consider a masterpiece. You said if everything works out. The acting, script, etc. You might think it's a masterpiece, but others might think it's cheesy.

See my point.

I think I might like tran. more then SM3 and POTC3 so I can't wait to see it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh the voice of reason

uninformed opinion... presented as fact.... :woot:

oh and i doubt any serious film fans would consider my choice of master piece movies as cheesy... but thats neither hear nor there

as im pretty sure Transformers wont be one of them... Unfortunalty

but nevermind...

My original point has been lost... and i think it was...

IF all the other pieces of the puzzle, which "make a great movie" have been dealt with, with as much care and are up to the same standard... as the visuals and action...

this will be an amazing movie......

IF!!!!!

IF!!!!!
LOL .... I'm not saying it as fact, I'm giving it as an opinion. I was just reinstating what I said with "I think" cause u said there were to many doubts in my thinking. LOL

My bad... (excuse the pun)

I dont post on here a great deal... but it i read it alot daily...

and there a number of people who seem to have the poer of forsight... or a time machine... and love to tell people this movie WILL fail...

as though its 100% fact.. .hahahahhahahah

I personally am more in the "hopefull" camp...

:woot:

Hmm, interesting how you only used Orlando Bloom.

I am sorry but there is no way Shia is going to be able to act better than Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen...not only will the script not allow for it but I just don't think he would be able to anyway.

From what I've seen from Shia lately, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's probably not stretching to say that he will put up the best performance in this movie.

Well...I have no problem with Bay. Personally I think he is a good director. I astually liked the Island and the Rock. And the movies that sucked...still looked good? They sucked cause they had bad scripts...which is not his fault.

things i LOVE about this movie:
1) michael bay
2) don murphy
3) frank welker not voicing megatron
4) optimus prime's flame paint job
5) bumblebee's sweet ass camaro alt mode
6) megatron actually looking evil rather than looking like his stupid generation 1 (i'm assuming g1 stands for generation 1) self
7) tyrese
8) the fact that they are not using the cliched, tired story from the first installment of the cartoon that was already old before it was even conceptualized
9) the fact that this movie isn't another rehash of a bunch of robots fighting over an oil rig, like the old show

i'd rather have frank then hugo... my opinion

Insofar as big time actors, he's the next Harrison Ford (I'm not necessarily speaking about talent). He'll be in every Transformer movie (or more than likely) and he's signed on to be in the next Indiana Jones film. HUGE, HUGE world wide recognition after that.

may they bring on the movie tomorrow so that I can have my normal life back instead of sitting here in front computer refreshing every single TF thread. :D

You're telling me. I've been like that since they first announced Transformers at comic-con awhile back.

Remember this?

Yep, I remember seeing that. At first I thought they were promoting a sequel to the animated Transformers Movie. Then I found out they were bringing out a live action movie. My first thought was, it's going to be real cheesy. Then I found out Speilberg was involved and I decided to get more information. Now here we are today.:woot:

Ahh it only seemed like yesterday when we all saw that first pic of Bumblebee laying on that trailer. It's quite interesting matching everyones opinion during the lead-up to release, and then to the aftermath of the film, seeing if there opinions stuck. Its been a great ride :trans:

If it does well, there's a chance for redemption in part 2 :)

It has indeed. I wish I knew what became of the fans from a year and a half ago like Covenant and Bowspearer (and many others). I don't even see them when I lurk in the seibertron boards.
