The cleaners tried to kick you out? That has never happened to me.

I've had that happen too. They said I had to leave so they could clean....I said I paid to watch it to the end so they can clean around me.

Such things are the theaters fault. Not enough workers to do everything, since they have to clean right away and rush off to do something else or improper scheduling if the next movie starts in a short amount of time.

Pacific Rim will be 2013's Scott Pilgrim vs The World

What does that even mean?

Didn't perform well financially

And both films were huge risks, both films have directors with huge online followings & geek cred and also both films had a very robust cast with actors who had huge online followings

It's actually uncanny how similar both the films are considering tracking, marketing and early buzz and reviews

That does sound about right. Stupid marketing.

That is so rude. I'd have done the same thing.

Dialogue on FF6 level. If that helps.
I can handle that level, obviously.

Final Fantasy 6 was one of my favorite games growing up!

Son of a Submariner! You'll pay for this!
All of you have that sparkle in your eyes…Well, this old man’s not giving up, either!
If something were to happen to me, all the world's women would grieve!

Dialogue like that and the movie should be awesome!

Scott Pilgrim was far from a huge risk. Only ended up costing $60mil after the tax rebates and they spent little to nothing on marketing. A far cry from $200mil.

I am thankful Scott Pilgrim was made because for my brother and I, it is perfection on film.

How can they even be compared considering the cost for each film? Pacific Rim has to have somewhere in the realm of $300m on the line. Scott Pilgrim probably didn't even reach $100m.

Been my thought for awhile, yes.

Grosses will be higher than Pilgrim though.
I honestly will be surprised if the film is a hit domestically. It has lousy marketing, no stars, competition from Grown Ups 2 and the second weekend of DM2. It's going to need a 60+mil opening weekend to have a shot at the budget. It can't just open to 40-45mil unless it's wom is just out of this world.

It's not a perfect comparision Darth but what other film would you compare it to?

He's been singing its praises for over a year; slobberingly so. That review was a given.
It's the least surprising review of all time. I'm not trying to be too snarky because I respect his reviews. Everyone has a right to look forward to whichever film they please. I'm happy he enjoyed it and I hope I do as well.

I do hope he doesn't slit his wrists if the movie tanks.

He decided he loved it forever ago, before even seeing it. Same way he said Star Trek Into Darkness was garbage... and then seconds later admitted he hadn't seen it. And what do you know? He hated it.

Can't take that kind of opinion to heart.

Considering the amount of detail he goes into describing various elements of the film I doubt it.

I'm not a huge fan of Faraci as a journalist or a site runner but I've read enough of his reviews to understand his tastes.

He is a big fan of certain kind of tone and particularly of positive focused stories centered around and driven by distinct characters. His taste for optimism in stories is almost to a fault at times and he can be a little too forgiving for schmaltz and the like (See his Cloud Atlas coverage).

I have found his judgement to be a pretty good gauge for action scenes and if he says such scenes are coherent, effective or memorable I usually find myself agreeing.

Given his tastes as a general metric, if the film was a disappointment, he'd be tearing into it. There's little Faraci likes more than tearing into a film he doesn't like and then somehow trying to hang it with some sort of unheeded political baggage to further bring it down.

While he was ripping on STID before its release he gave a pretty well reasoned argument for its many problems post release.

Not liking Star Trek Into Darkness hardly invalidates a reviewer, it just proves they have a cultural memory that lasts more than 10 years.:o

It goes all the way back to Chud, the people on that site including Faraci were pretty much buddy buddy with Del Toro. Personally I just don't trust his opinion of Del Toro's films and I'm someone who literally only dislikes one of Del Toro's films.

He even writes articles about how box office is unimportant unless he can use it go bash J.J Abrams.

Bingo.

My wife is a Ron Perlman fan...last night we saw the first ad that had him in it. Like said earlier, she was wanting to see the movie because of the sci fi/monsters part anyway...then she saw that and said "You didn't tell me Perlman was in it"
