I think Norman will transform, just not into the Hulk-like Ultimate Goblin.

It's been confirmed! Rhino will indeed be a cross-species!

That photo confirms it.

if this trilogy turns into spider-man vs. a different cross species each film, i will shoot myself. it is lazy, contrived, dumb and narrow minded.

it makes everything way too predetermined; everything comes from oscorp/richard parker's science, which is also implied to have created peter as well.

it is so lame to have a hero with such a predestined path in one of the biggest cities in the world where crime is rather high.

get away from cross species webb, for the love of all that is sacred in this film series. oscorp has other applications; explore them.

heck, oscorp doesnt even have to be the centre of it all. kingpin, hammerhead, silvermaine etc etc. use them. don't be so narrow in your approach.

Here's a new theory for you guys.

R.H.I.N.O. is Max Dillion's invention and idea. Oscorp stole his R.H.I.N.O. plans and claimed it as their own.

"You'll see that in his whole life, no one is talking to [Max]. People have stolen his ideas at the big company. He's a nobody."-Jamie Foxx

When R.H.I.N.O. (presumably the Ultimate Spider-Man version) goes berserk, Max helps Spider-Man shut him down, since it's his own invention.

"At a certain point, Spider-Man bumps into him and says, 'You're my guy. You're my eyes and ears on the street. And he says his name — no one has ever said [Max] Dillon's name."- Foxx

I'm just throwing it out there, and I think it's very possible.

I don't mind Electro being smart, but creating battle suits level smart, I don't know.

i think i like the Max Dillon helps defeating R.H.I.N.O but not him creating it , he bumps into Spider-man , he asks anyone knows how to stop a gigantic robot rhino?(sarcastically)
then Max shouts "the suit works with electricity , try removing his power source on his back"
"oh, how i didn´t think of that?" then Spider-man says him "You're my guy. You're my eyes and ears on the street" in a way to thank him but he takes it too serious and becomes obssesed with him

just an idea....

But the majority of Spider-man villains ARE animal-based. The film didn't make that up, it is intrinsic to the comics themselves. Based off your argument you can argue that Spider-man comics are lazy, dumb, and narrow minded.

Also do you mind explaining how animal-themed villains somehow equates to predetermined, contrived writing? The two have nothing in common. The animal-based villains are merely a device used in the Spider-man mythos. How each spider-man story is told through the use of those characters is a completely different scenario. To me this is equivalent to complaining that the Green Lantern has space and laser themed villains; or that The Incredible Hulk is hackneyed because of its abundance of gamma radiation themed villains. Why not just let the story be what it was meant to be? -shrug-

I like it. And I think its definitely very possible.

heck, oscorp doesnt even have to be the centre of it all. kingpin, hammerhead, silvermaine etc etc. use them. don't be so narrow in your approach.

Oscorp is the tower of babel in this film. I think it would be too much to have Kingpin, Hammerhead, the Hardy Foundation, etc all shoved into this one trilogy. I think having one big "evil corporation" behind the scenes works best.

they can and obviously should be (if applicable) animal based sure, but cross species genetics based? i think that is lazy etc, because you are retreading the lizard in many senses.

i never even said animal based in my post... there is a difference between cross-species and adopting an animal as inspiration for one's alter ego; eg a cat for black cat, a rhino for rhino, and a scorpion for scorpion.

what i dont want is a giant octopus-man running around, for example, comprende?

Its not "lazy" if it is done differently. Lizard had his own story. I doubt the Rhino will even be cross-species, and if he is, I'm sure it will still be cool. And Electro won't be (obviously), so...

Not every villain will be cross-species, though. Certain ones other than Lizard (like Rhino and Scorpion) I could see being cross-species.

That would be true if you give him an animal mind and he gets the urge to transform everyone else into a Rhino. I mean really, where's the difference between villains dressing as animals, and villains actually having animal DNA?

Rhino could be the next step. With his mind unaltered and the transformation stable and unfortunately, irreversible.

yeah my post was saying how i dont want them to make every villain (even more than 1) a result of cross-species research.

i want scorpion to be a guy in an exoskeleton suit, i want rhino to be a guy in a suit, either robotic or not. i want doc ock to be a guy with metal arms fused to his body.

i dont want, for reasons already stated, a bunch of cross species villains.

the way they handled the bad guys like rhino and scorpion in the ASM video game was lame; i don't want that on screen.

So having Rhino be another cross-species would be retreating, but having two villains wear suits that are animal inspired wouldn't be?

So because people have a different opinion than you, an opinion that is educated through knowledge of the comics that this film series is primarily based off of, that gives you the right to mock?

Educated? Did you take Spider-Man 101 at the local community college? I can name you 10 things off the top of my head that ASM did not do right by the comics so lets not get into a pissing contest on comic knowledge...it's especially dumb on the internet. The right to mock? I am not mocking...I am pointing out the terrible hypocrisy in this place. Paul Giamatti could be playing The Kangaroo and people in here would be turning over cars and burning them in excitement. Rhino is a lame C tier villain and for proof you can look up how many people were calling for him to be in the movie in this very forum. Use the search bar at the top. This is SM3 all over again. Look at all the casting announcements and the dumb villains...Jamie Foxx as Electro who thinks he is Spider-Man's buddy? Paul Giamatti as the Rhino? Can't waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

ok , you might be right but oh wait ,is it confirmed by Sony or Webb ?....no

Throw me in with the nerdgasms in here already making imaginary plots..I am making up imaginary awful outcomes. Paul Giamatti is kinda limited to the number of villains he can play. I don't want Doc Ock again as I don't think they can top Molina and I despise Ultimate Ock. I didn't think he could play Rhino at first anyways...go back and look at my first post in here.

I'm right there with ya. Problem was that Raimi always had to make everyone have a backstory that was somehow related to Peter even when they shouldn't have been. This resulted in a convoluted backstory that took up too much time from the more important stuff.

You know Webb already did that in ASM and he will continue to do so because it deepens the stakes...especially if they go with Norman being the man in the shadows creating all the villains crap.
