If Lerman wears brown contacts, Which I think he should. He'd look just like Peter Parjer from the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

Yes, if he wore brown contacts his eyes would indeed look as unreal as that cartoon character's do. That's why it's a bad idea. Same thing happened with Tony Hopkins when he wore brown contacts to play Picasso, you couldn't see what was going on in his eyes, they looked glassy and unreal.

No. Nothing is official. Personally, I think the choice won't be announced until June or something. Maybe a little earlier. Right now I think they're just working on the Vanderbilt script and story and the 3D stuff.

Larry-411 is an inside source and has interviewed Logan and followed his career for a while now. He has the short list of who Sony wants, but won't reveal it.

Here is what he says over on IMDB :

As much as I'd like to confirm this, it is not official. It is basically the same thing I've been saying for awhile. I've said that I believed he would get the role, based on inside sources. They are saying the same thing. It is not official until Sony announces it.

Here is my article:

Some people have known this for awhile but have, as they are supposed to do, not released it. But, like with many entertainment writers, some are less honest than others and go ahead and break their embargo or release the info.

He has been near the top of the list. I do have the list but I won't do what others might do and post it, but I can tell you that he was 2nd on the list. They were waiting to see how Percy would do. He wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't doing as well as it is. As soon as it surpassed its expectations they made the decision.

But as long as it's now out there I have no choice but to go ahead and make my own article public. But I am still not saying it's official.

Last paragraph reads :

Fox's own analysis said that (Percy Jackson) needed to take in over $100 million to greenlight a second installment in its entire run, not one weekend. As of now, after only 15 days, the film has earned close to $135 million worldwide, and that doesn't even include foreign numbers since February 21. It also has yet to open in a number of overseas territories. By any measure Percy Jackson has exceeded expectations. That said, Marshall's statement that the movie did well enough to prove that Lerman can carry "a film of that size" is 100% correct. And I believe that is the reason Sony will confirm his selection as Spider-Man. It's hard to imagine they'd put him in Peter Parker's shoes had Percy bombed or underperformed. Now the question is, can he do both?

People really need to quit trying to anoint him as the next Spidey before Sony does. They could be deeply disappointed when someone no one has heard of comes along and is named.

except all the other names on the list ARE actors we've all heard of.
from what dude says, they're all pretty talented too!
The only difference is they don't have a leading role in a succesfull fantasy film, which Logan now does.
THAT'S what's gonna bump him to first place on that list ;)

its interesting that sony was looking to see if PJ would be a success rather than a flop I would have thought if the movie was a flop they could dictate the terms of a contract, also if PJ had flopped then people wouldn't associate logan with PJ when he is playing PP.

also the article said he is number 2, then who is number 1 and why hasn't number 1 been signed already, after all it is their number 1 choice.

Because if they had 100% faith in number 1, there wouldn't be 6 other names on the list.

And I believe at this point, Logan is now their number one.

In fact, I believe he's already been choosen. It's just a matter of announcing it to the public (which some inside sources have already leaked, which why all the reports and focus have been on him more than anyone else).

it's also possible sony are waiting because they want to announce the male and female lead roles together. were maguire and dunst announced together? anyone remember?

No, Maguire was announced in June of 2000. Maguire had to fly to Berlin to read with Dunst and she was announced later, shortly before camera started rolling.

the timing could be oddly similar, actor announced in june with the movie coming out two years later.

Studios do a lot of **** on the down low we don't even have knowledge of until like months down the line, so they could very well have this dude or somebody already pretty much signed and delivered, they're just holding it as a trump card to release to the fanboy world so as to get that extra publicity push from us.

Why do they try to hide these things. Why is keeping this (and other things) secret the most important thing to Sony? Other comic book movies can't wait to announce what they have (like Green Lantern's cast or Thor's). But us Spidey fans have to just sit and wait, like fools clinging to the lastest tidbit from a fleet of websites starving for hits.

They're like the hot chick that knows the guys all want to bang her, but she's withholding it.

Okay...these companies are obviously female to you all.

its entirely possible that noone is signed so they can't announce what they don't have
