Pokemon: The Original Series Talk

Wow.

Look I still find it entertaining. And whether people admit it or not they did do some new things with B/W. Team Rocket didn't go after Pikachu until recently, they were more black ops than anything else.

Plasma didn't show up until after the Unova League either, unlike Magma/Aqua and Galatic which was a threat throughout.

Having a good rival is key, but they weren't all rookies. Paul was experienced, Trip wasn't, but he did beat them in the end. I wish he would have a female rival for X/Y, that would be different and cool.

Is it repetitive? Sure. But aren't all shows in one way or the other? Dramas, comedies, etc? Maybe there will be some new twists for X/Y, I willing to watch and find out.

And as for the anime it's got a loyal following because of the manga, so yeah a lot of people are excited for it for that reason.

That's the thing though; it's just so hard to buy that Team Rocket is a legit threat when you've had team portrayed as idiots for so long. I think the only time Team Rocket came off as actually menacing is when Giovanni got involved.

And this past season was definitely weighed down by the additions of Cilan and Iris, where the first one comes off as annoying, and the second one just comes off nagging. Now one could argue that Misty came off that way, but she had more charm attached to her character and Ash was actually a newbie back then.

I think the season suffered from the fact that they didn't have the region's villainous team present for the entire duration of the season. Could you imagine on how much better Black and White would have been if they had incorporated the Game's story line from Black and White 1 and 2 into the anime, with Kyruem being used to freeze Unova and finding the legendary pokemon heroes that the Dragons would choose, etc?

And constantly having Ash lose his pokemon league challenges have destroyed any hope that people would have in expecting for him to win one at this point.

Look you're not wrong, Cilan and Iris weren't the best cohorts for Ash I agree. Cilan especially gets on my nerves with his "evaluation time". It's just sad.

And yes Team Plasma being present throughout might have been a better play but I really did like the Meloetta storyline, it was very nicely done AND had Giovanni.

But they did do some things right though. Everyone had a rival this time, Ash had like four, and they consistently brought them back and built the rivalries up to great scale.

yes Ash losing in the league sucks. I honestly wanted him to lose to Team Eevee because that would've been so cool to see, but they didn't do that.

I guess we're just going to have to hope that they take a different approach with X/Y. But i'm still going to watch the show regardless.

Honestly, the moment that Ash is allowed to "age" within the anime..that's when Ill take it as a sign that the show runners are finally going to make some much needed changes to the show.

I remember hearing one strange theory on how it could be explained in the end that the reason why Ash never seems to age and why he always has the same Team Rocket members after him, let alone why he never deposits Pikachu is because he's trapped in some coma that was caused by the lightning storm that occurred when Pikachu defended him from the flock of Spearow and how everything in the series is a result of his imagination.

I don't know how high the ratings are or if it's got a really strong viewership, but if it has, I doubt they'll change up the formula now.

Wasn't it said earlier that the reason why they're releasing a Kanto Anime Special is because they want to attract the old/nostalgic fans back into the franchise due to the low ratings that Pokemon Black and White got?

Yeah lol. Well, it depends on how good it'll be. I think it'll be a 4-epsisode miniseries.

I'm sorry im late to the news. But i've been seeing some original pokemon pictures online that are remastered, and look extraordinary. Is the original series being remastered? Anyone know what i'm talking about? Just curious, as i do miss the original series.

Are you talking about the Anime or the Video Games?

1. If you're talking about the Anime, a recent Four Part Special was aired in Japan that's pretty much a direct adaptation of the Pokemon Red/Blue/Green Version Games, with no ties whatsoever to the current anime with Ash.

2. If you're talking about the games, then there's this thing called "Mega Evolution" that's been recently introduced that can give new forms to previous generations' pokemon.

I cant seem to find them, but i did manager to save one. There was a comparison in particular that showed a screen shot from a charmander flamethrower scene, 90's version on top, and what looked to me like a hd version below. Maybe im really late to this news.

I'm watching the first episode of Pokemon the Origin. Loving it; the Charmander vs Squirtle fight is really well done.

It's possible that they might be flashbacks used in current episodes since they've been doing a few flashbacks in the Black and White series where they've recreated some moments from the past.
