Secrets Of The Amazon: The Wonder Woman SPOILER Thread - Part 1

It was slightly played for laughs. Not as extreme as Adam West's Batman but still described as "high comedy".

This is one of the reasons why I don't like it when they go heavy with the cgi, these two scenes look so similar to me cgi wise. They could practically be from the same movie.

This is the stuff that I live for! :ilv:

I'm on-board with the idea that WW probably lost a little of its visual distinctiveness in the climactic sequence.

There are some very good dramatic moments in that part of the film, but it's still the only section that I don't spontaneously love.

Having said that, the two gifs don't really strike me as particularly revealing. Wouldn't it be possible to pull a couple of seconds of footage with fire in the background (and movement somewhere in the foreground) from a bunch of different movies?

The two scenes didn't remind me of one another in the theater.

The scenes themselves are very different but to me the look of them are not very far off.

My old eyes tell me I see fire and surfaces and heroes running around...any examples of other films that involves fire (and at night) with people around it that look superior?

The look is similar, but I'd say the WW scene functions much better. Its a firestorm of violence that's hard to follow, happening in the moment when Diana is overtaken by rage. Hard to follow and obviously tons of SFX, but much more connected to the story and character.

It makes sense. There are instances in the movie where CG is required for her to move as quickly and superhuman as she does is in the comics that couldn't be done without it. That is basically her berserker rage that we're seeing via closeup.

In Wonder Woman the fire helps send the point of the chaos of war. Remember what General Ludendorff said to Dr. Poison about fire. This scene is a result of that scene.

The movement looks more natural to me in the WW clip.

So maybe the CGI is a little better, or my eyes are just deceiving me.

You make a good point. I hadn't really put those scenes together in my mind.

Feels. Same universe aesthetics

I think both scenes work well for story and character. For Clark, we had just seen a guy save him from the falling cage on the Debby Sue, so the following scene shows Clark saving others. The juxtaposition of the two scenes reveal heroism of man and Superman. Later, the scene takes on even more meaning when it adds to Lois Lane's story about the alien guardian angel. It also establishes Superman is more like a fireman than a warrior.

Anyway, I have no idea why even visual parallels have to be turned into some sort of pissing contest. It's mind-boggling, to be honest.

Noooo, what is going on in the 2 films is the point to me. WW is going to town and it is a wonder to see.
One has fire exploding (MoS) and one has fire in the background (WW). I will never understand some peoples disdain for fire CG but maybe I just don't see enough movies.

It isn't about what is going on in the scene for me. It's jsut about the look plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

So...any examples of better fire visuals in action movies over the last 30 years?

Well when I look at fire in real life I don't look for any differences in them, maybe other people do.

I would also like to know this. I haven't really seen any fire where I thought it looked bad except in Transformers. But from what I can remember, tthe WW MOS fire looks like the one in Deepwater Horizon.

I WOULD have posted more Deadpool fire scenes but that will just get me banned if you know what I mean, just google it for comparison if people are interested.

I dont know and I don't really care. It's to much CGI for my taste.

Oh sweet, so you don't care and you spend posts after posts complaining about it. Great. Waste of time on my behalf. Sorry for the bother

If anything that just helps me, half of those look good and not as if they are on green soundstage.

Lol, post after post complaining? Where's the complaining? I see 1 post stating "I didn't like the cgi" and 2 posts "It isn't about the context of the scenes, I just didn't like the cgi".

Wow OK, I seriously wanted to discuss this but fine if you don't care. I wasn't trying to put you on the spot I was just trying to see if there really were any differences between the looks of huge explosions.
@Greenlite the Phoenix fire is the worst one IMO but I don't think the Phoenix fire is suppose to look realistic in the first place.
