What did you all think of scarecrow's role this time compared to TDK? I think it was sweet to have him come back and complete the trilogy full circle.

It felt Crane too much. Had wanted to have a little bit of Scarecrow in him.
Basically being the judge, he doesn't have a lot of punishments. Only exile (walk on the ice) or death. When Gordon choses death, Crane looks bored and gives him "death... by exile". That part sounded lame. I know he doesn't want to give Gordon his dignity back, so that's why he doesn't give him his "death". But he gives him the exact same punishments as the others, to walk on the ice.

Why didn't he come up with something much worse or humiliating to the traitor of Gotham (Harvey Dent lie)? The chosen punishment was so standard.

My audience totally got a kick out of seeing him again. I should have seen it coming when he said "death...by exile" but I didn't and I laughed.

He's still clearly a guy with a dark side, but perhaps he had left the Scarecrow side of him behind by this point?

Yeah my audience loved his appearance and that line too.

He was making his fear gas from the chemicals shipped in by ras wasn't he, derived from the blue flower? Unless he got another source id say he might have just run out of gas.

(pun intended)

Seriously though i fricken love scarecrow

I really liked that Scarecrow was in the movie. But I can't help but feel that role was meant for Joker.

I cannot imagine the Joker, after all he did and the impact his character made with the audience, would be delegated to such a small a minor appearance that doesn't even get resolved.

Wouldve liked to see him walk in wearing the mask.. And bane say something like "All rise for the honourable judge scarecrow"

Not Bane. He should be quiet in the courtroom, just a spectator.

The question is if Crane still has access to that blue flower that creates his feargas. If so, it would be funnier to see gassed people run on that ice, though the way now it's more frightening for the people themselves, they walk into their own deadly hole. Better: let Scarecrow put a group in a cell or so, gass them and let them finish each other off because of the fear. Something he wanted to do in Batman Begins but wasn't able to do so because of Batman, and now he could have been able to do it. At least... if he still can get that special flower.

That's the worst thing I've ever heard, straight out of the book of Schumacher.

Was delighted Cillian (and Liam) came back for their cameos, they were both great as per usual. Audience got a big kick out of both, especially the death...by exile crack. Cillian is so deadpan, it's brilliant.

It was fantastic to see him and he was greatly entertaining. I would have liked to see him in his judge get up with the mask, but hey at the end of the day it was still very good.

"Sold to the man in a cold sweat!"

Such a great line :D

I've been wondering what that line meant. I got such a kick out of the whole Crane cameo! Cillian Murphy is brilliant and i doubt anyone could replace him. All the people in the audience were laughing when he delivered the Death...by exile line! But ive been wondering..what did Crane mean when he said "Sold to the man in a cold sweat"?

It was just a joke line. The man had to pick his fate. Crane was just trolling, using auctioning parlance.

He was jokingly imitating an auctioneer, saying the guy on trial (man in cold sweat) had bought himself exile.

Ahh! Thankyou. I'm going to watch it again for the 3rd time pretty soon. The whole courtroom scene was great! Especially enjoyed Bane sitting in the corner while Crane went about passing his judgements haha.

Did anyone else get a chuckle out of how Scarecrow reinvented himself as a man of the people in TDKR? He was rather elitist in BB. I guess he's nothing if not adaptable. :funny:

When I saw TDKR for my second viewing this past Friday, some dude in the row behind me was so shocked to see Crane.

I suppose Crane was rounded up by the resurgent police force at the end of the movie.

I love Crane's confrontation with Gordon.

Gordon: Crane if you think were going out unto that Ice willingly you got another thing coming.

Crane: Death then.

Gordon: looks like it.

Crane: Death...by Exile. (smiles)

Loved to see him return :D
I didn't mind him not using the mask, my only problem with Scarecrow was how underused he was in Begins and how he was defeated there too, in The Dark Knight and Rises i think that he served his purpose very well, and frankly, with the scarecrow mask on he wouldn't have been such a funny judge.
