A maskless Crane would be an even harder kick in the nuts for the Scarecrow fans that have longed for more screen time on the character.
But here's hoping we get at least both the "maskless courtroom" scene and a masked scene of some sort.

Scarecrow courtroom scene sounds like something the Joker possibly would have done if Ledger were still alive.

I suspect it was an idea they had for Joker that they're substituting Crane for after Ledger's death.

It's no substitution, really, because it doesn't fit Scarecrow's MO very well. It's not really a perfect fit for The Joker, but that's qualified by the fact that he is totally random and does whatever he likes. Two Face seems like the obvious choice for an evil judge.

A lot of Joker's stories in TDK centered around mob types scarring him. The "sharks", you know. I thought the scene would be a good way to finish his story. Quoth the Raven nevermore. But I can see Scarecrow in this scenario too. Recall in BB he seemed to have an inferiority complex about people in power. Here, he has power over the wealthy of Gotham.

I wonder how they'd wrap up Scarecrow's story? If he's doing these trials without Bane's knowledge, and Bane finds out, there could be some serious payback.

I bet Bane kills him and laughs about it.

Agreed.

So any news or hopefully confirmation of Scarecrow/Crane's supposed appearance in this?

Im still opposed to seeing a "maskless" Crane in this film, it just dosent fit to me and no one can change my opinion on that.

I would be disappointed if he's maskless as well.

You know now that I think about it, there's something I didnt understand the first time I watched TDK. At the end of Scarecrow's cameo, Batman growls:

"Don't let me find you out here again."
Crane replies: "Not in my diagnosis"

So back in BB, when Batman gave him a "taste of his own medicine", that sort of "programmed" Crane's mind to be obsessed with Batman and try to help in a twisted sort of way? Lol I feel a bit dull right now if I just now realized that but whatever

ANYWAY, on the topic of an appearance in TDKR: I say yes, but only in moderation. The character list is already crowded enough as it is, with at least 3 new major players being introduced (Catwoman, Bane, "Talia").

Like someone said before me, maybe there could be a scene where Batman travels to Arkham for information and interrogates Crane. Also, there is that court scene in the MTV footage that people were talking about, I think it would be cool if Crane presided over some of the kangaroo courts, just to illustrate Gotham's descent into madness and chaos.

I think Crane was just being a smartass.

I'd like to see him return, and also an appearance of Zsasz

Really hope to see him. I'll probably wait for someone to confirm or deny he's in this before I decide to watch it.

He should be caught while trying to crack open an ATM, if we're staying consistent with his progress through these movies.

It was actually:

Brian Douglas: We're trying to help you!
Batman: I don't need help.
Dr. Jonathan Crane: Not in my diagnosis!

It was a sarcastic remark from Crane that meant Batman has a mental disorder and needs psychiatric care or therapy.

Crane says "Not my diagnosis" because Batman said "I dont need help "

You missed something

Crane was right, batman will need Catwoman's help

:funny: yeah. I love Scarecrow and wish his character had been given more to do, but it's too late now, another cameo would just be pointless. I was hoping that by this film Gotham would be a kind of playground for loonies, with the various villains showing up here and there in bit parts, but I think that ship has sailed, so there's really no reason to bother.

Not sure how Scarecrow will figure into the action but a scene with Catwoman and Batman would be cool!
