The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume - Part 2

I like the suit even though I prefer the original design of the costume. Also it doesn't remind of a basketball because I have gloves with sort of the same texture. Overall I'm pleased but would like to see the suit in daylight.

The Dark Knight costume has symmetry
Okay, I'll bite: how is the Spider-Man costume lacking symmetry?
it's a rather jagged design to me. the stipes going down the thighs bother me, the boots as well. the now non existense arm strips trailing to nowhere, but again, that's me.

I don't want to get into a Dark Knight argument, so let's just say I don't entirely agree with this sentiment and leave it at that for now.

Well, I certainly agree that it's not a universally established and internationally recognizable web pattern--that's not really what a "graphic" implies to me, so that's why I didn't fully understand your meaning in your original post.

That being the case, I think this is permissible because the pattern doesn't exist in a void; as part of the whole design on the character it's a part of, there's no chance anyone would mistake it for anything but webs. Though, whether you like it or think it looks good is another concern entirely.

There's certainly an argument that it subtracts from Spider-Man's iconography. Personally, it doesn't bother me much, but that's me.I like that they got creative with the application of the pattern, as well--the way it changes on his stomach or on parts of his boots or gloves. Not that it's necessarily better than the classic design, but sometimes change is good.

So we disagree, I can respect that.

Well, I can say I agree about the leg stripes--they sort of make it look like a track suit, but I think I need to see more.

I like the boots from what I've seen, though, and I've gotten used to the arm strips--I think the arm strips, along with some of the variations in the web pattern (such as on his stomach, or on the boots) and the curving seamwork on the blue parts of the suit, create a sense of flow and movement, sort of like a web being spun or moving in the wind. I think that's a neat impression.

Personally I like both suits, new and old. Not sure which one I prefer but they both work. Then again I don't nitpick trivial things like this, I worry about the bigger picture when it comes to a movie.

It will not make or break the movie, bu the suit is ugly.
From the yellow eyes (which is ridiculous), from the sport like gloves, to the web shooters being visible.......it´s all a fricking mess.

If Spider-Man ever joins the Power Rangers, that´s the suit to go with

I know that Hollywood wanted to distance themselves from the Sam Raimi´s trilogy, but this is just ridiculous.
The most iconic thing about Spidey´s suit is big white eyes, guess what....they lost that too..

I remember people complaining back when Raimi's films were going on and people wanted embedded webbing, and now that we finally get it and it looks amazing people are comparing it to a basketball? Make up your mind already, the suit looks amazing, and ill say it again, the materials used for this suit far surpass that used for the suit in raimi's films.

Well it certainly looks better than the set photos. However I just really dislike the design of the arms, legs, the spider and the yellow eyes irritate me. The web shooters are chunky as hell and look really.... odd. The colours and webs though are awesome!

that photo is just pure AWESOME!!!
SOLD! SOLD! SOLD! was on the fence but that photo has sold me now it looks fantastic

Yeah, I feel the same. It would be such a horrible move.

I wouldn't at all be shocked though. I will honestly :funny: at it. -_-

The only thing I feel positive about in this film is Andrew Garfield, who in Social Network and Never Let Me Go was actually a delight. He was even in a Doctor Who episode.
Everything else though? No. I don't like the idea of him playing a 15 year old, I don't like it being put back in high school (even if it does work for comics, I'm not so sure I will take it seriously in the movie), the costume is stupid looking, the director did 500 Days of Summer, which is a good movie, but nothing that makes me think he's ready for this (who knows though). He hasn't said anything that has gotten me excited, other than he did like Raimi's movies.
And one of the worst things, they HAD to go along with everyone else and make this 3D. It's being used as such a gimmick now it's crazy.

The college vibe in the Raimi movies was crap. Utter crap. It was like middle school. (seriously, who shines the light from a mirror into some kids eyes anymore?) I'm glad we're getting high school.

The director thing is stupid. Jon Favreau and Chris Nolan didn't do anything memorable.

SM4 was in talks of being 3D so that was "destined" from the beginning.

The cast (for the most part) is high-profile actors.

I think you don't like it, to not like it. :o

Obviously you don't understand the tern "Graphic Pattern"

You could use my web example in the same way and it would still be called a graphic pattern.

A web is a web, considering context (seriously, what is it with SHH people and forgetting that context even exists, I swear), it would be pretty much impossible for anyone to think it's anything but webbing.

That being the case, I think this is permissible because the pattern doesn't exist in a void; as part of the whole design on the character it's a part of, there's no chance anyone would mistake it for anything but webs. As usual, Saint.

It's still symmetrical. You happening to not like the design doesn't change that, unless you've got some obscure twist on the definition of 'symmetry' as well as 'graphic pattern'. :whatever:

Calling it asymmetrical is nonsense.

No i'll just use the dictionary definition:
1.An imprecise sense of harmonious or aesthetically pleasing proportionality and balance; such that it reflects beauty or perfection.
2. Beauty as a result of balance or harmonious arrangement.
3. beauty or harmony of form based on a proportionate arrangement of parts

in that regard, it fails.

I think this does indeed confirm that the suit in the set photos is indeed made purposely brighter (just like the effects guy said) so the 3D can pick up the blues and red and then will be darkened down in post. that is TWO official pictures now with a deep blue and red compared to the light blue and red in the leaked pictures.

I like the sinister eyes but hope they aren't yellow.

The rubbery texture is fine as long as they don't do extreme close ups.

Love the mech webshooters, not wild about the blue fingers.

I like the webbing is black and not raised this time around but really dislike the silvery slippers.

Overall it's a mixed bag but no dealbreakers and it could've been much, much worse.

LOVING the newest look at the suit. people can finally stop questioning whether the webs will be visible, or red colored, or whatever the hell else. also, those of you thinking he won't have any powers need to put the drugs down and clear your heads for a second.

This official picture i think deffinately has changed my position on the suit from on the fence to....I f'in LOVE it!!! I mean yeah sure the yellow eyes are a bit wierd, and it would look better with white, but I can get used to that. Also am i the only one that really likes the design for the web-shooters?

The suit looks great in this new pic. you can't see that ugly leg line which is what really bothers me, it was completely unecessary. Another thing that I don't like is the yellow/gold lenses. Why? really why? Just aesthetic changes to separate this suit from Raimi's which is a shame. Other than that the suit looks pretty good.

soon as I get into work tomorrow I am going to make that spidey pic my wallpaper. I haven had a wallpaper (my screen is plain black) since the official doc ock pic for SM2 which blew me away.

well this new pic has blown me away, it's BEYOND awesome.
