How is this suit not maintaining the design? It's red and blue, has red on the front, red boots, red wrists and hands and a red mask. You guys are freaking out over pretty small things about the suit and are acting like it's orange and purple and resembles an Iron Man suit. It's a re-imagined, modernized Spider-Man suit. Deal with it.
Dammit guys, this is a retelling. They don't need to keep the suit EXACTLY the same, because it's not based in the same universe. That's why I have no problem with some of the things in Raimi's series (Except for most of the entirety of Spider-Man 3, although I did enjoy it.)
IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE EXACTLY THE SAME, BECAUSE IT ISN'T EXACTLY THE SAME CHARACTER.
I can only assume you guys did not read my post that directly precedes yours. If you had in fact read and tried to comprehend my thoughts (which I felt was made quite clear), you would see that your outbursts are unjustified, and in some cases, slightly sophomoric.
Allow me to point you to key parts of my post.
The costume is growing on me, but I'm still entitled to my opinion
that the lack of a belt is a major eye sore to an otherwise decent costume design.
I'm typically fairly open minded when it comes to redesigns and others' interpretations (I myself am a professional artist, so I understand one's need to put their own fingerprint on things).
I'm not saying the movie will fail or that I even hate the suit; it is merely one design choice that I find appalling.
It just feels incomplete as is.
Now please, point to where there is evidence of me "freaking out". Please point to where I state that the costume is not allowed to make changes and that everything must be "exactly the same".
You can't because I've said no such thing.
People like you automatically assume that anyone who doesn't like something on the internet is a mad, angry, salivating troll at their desk; banging away at their keyboards so hard the keys are flying across the room as they vehemently scream at the electronic gods for allowing what atrocities they're writing about.
This is absolutely not the case, and is a mindset people need to stop (unless it is clearly justified).
I FULLY understand and accept, and even (gasp) encourage artistic reinterpretation for the big screen. That however does not mean I will like something for the sake of it, and in this case, the lack of a belt bothers me NOT because it deviates from the source material, but because I find it to be a poor design choice, period. If the original costume had that design, I would have the same opinion: it needs a belt or some other horizontal pattern across the waist to break up the streak of blue running down the body and to fix the weak red shaft that just "ends" on his stomach. Its just awkward and isn't a strong design choice.
Once again, I have no hatred for it or the rest of the cosutme. My blood pressure was at a normal number, and no keyboards were harmed during this post. So I would kindly ask that you refrain from "freaking out" yourself when some one offers a differing view, and to actual stop to understand what they're saying instead of clamping your hands over your ears and shouting for the pitchforks.
Thanks.
