That suit is great. I love both suits for what they are. I won't know which I like better until I actually see the new suit in motion though.

Wow seeing those pictures again makes me think that suit looks damn perfect. Lol goodbye cgi swinging spidey! Hello stuntman meh suit spidey.

Oh yea i hope that they have spidey cgi shots as well. I love seeing spidey swinging stories high. With the stunt work, hes pretty close to the ground:/ no doubt it will look amazing though.

I also want a final swing to compare the cgi! Lol

There will probably still be a lot of CGI swinging

There you go.

:hehe:

With potential "better than avatar" cgi, i want to see spidey swinging high in the sky!
Sm2 graphics have the best in the trilogy in my eyes

He's done it it in the comics, so I don't see why it's a bad thing that he did it in the previous trilogy.

Because it turned out as a comedy wannabe Superman parody. Just like saying up up and away or Shazam for cheap laughs.

It did? I could have sworn it did not appear in an even remotely comedic scene, nor were there any kids nearby to say 'Wickeeeeeeeeeeeed!' for relief.

From what I've heard, the costume "looks fantastic in motion!"
I can't wait to see it myself. I have no doubts about it being awesome.

the "prettymuchit"-guy from youtube said that when they showed the footage at comic con, almost all naysayers ate their words and finally agreed that the movie looks great. Gotta tell you, that really made me smile :woot:

I can't believe people are actually complaining that the suit isn't the classic comic book design. Can you imagine this in a summer blockbuster?

Look, the current costume works in the context of a modern day and more grounded interpretation of the character. Say what you will about faithfulness and unnecessary changes, it looks like something a teenager in 2012 would design or at least, more so than the classic design.

Exactly. I love the new suit. :oldrazz:

I honestly don't understand how people can claim that one clearly professionally designed costume is more realistic than another one.

It's not about it being more "realistic" it's about it being more presentable in context. The classic Spider-Man costume doesn't work in the world that is being presented on the screen, just as Batman's grey/black suit with a blue cape wouldn't have worked with what Chris Nolan was attempting to present.

Arguing about which costume is better on the basis of realism is a silly point to hinge an argument on.

I may have misread your previous post. It did seem to me like you were arguing that he could have made it, but I see now you mean simply designed it and that you're arguing that it fits more with the style of the movie itself. But I disagree with your assertion that the old suit wouldn't work.

I agree that it would be hard for Batman's classic suit to work in Nolan's world (although I bet there could be a good medium ground between that and the movie batsuit, but no bat panties on the outside like the comics lol). I believe that Spider-man's suit is a different case. The design works as is (more or less) in any world in my opinion. It's a simple and iconic design that works anywhere and there is nothing in this movie (that we've seen so far) that makes me think this won't be the case here either.

Not to mention the suit seems more similar than it does different. Though to me some of those changes aren't aestheticly pleasing.

Arguing about which costume is better on the basis of realism is a silly point to hinge an argument on.

I agree. I think I jumped on your post because I've seen that argument crop up at times and I just never got where they're coming from on that.

I can see where you and many others are coming from, but I think many of the aesthetic changes are coming with the idea in mind that a 17 year old in 2012 is designing the suit.

According to a magazine, I forget which, Peter designs his suit on the computer and later sews it. Now I of course don't buy the fact that Peter could make this suit, nor do I buy he could have made the one in Raimi's films, but I do think they nailed this suit in the sense that this suit looks like one that a 17 year old would design on his computer. 17 year olds are over zealous in what they think looks cool and I think the new suit is something that would come across as "cool looking" to the average 2012 17 year old.

While the suit seen in the first 3 films and the original suit itself is iconic, classic, and plain awesome looking, it goes against what they're trying to do with Peter in this film. I am a believer in the fact that they could have kept it more true to the original design, but I think they did a great job with it.

Do you know what I mean or am I rambling too much?

No, no. I get where you're coming from now. I don't necessarily agree, but I can see how you came to that conclusion.

I love the new costume too, but they would've made a better choice if they just desided to take the classic design and give it a little edge. The costume would have been fine with only these changes:
-texture
-non-raised webbing
-bigger spider
-parkour gloves (at least I think they're parkour gloves...)
-the rest of the shapes (belt, boots) a little edgier

I myself as many of you like that they went with a design that looks more like what a 17 year old kid could've come up with, but when it comes to superhero movies most people prefer if they just pay as much respect to the source material as possible. Of course there is different costumes in the comics, but the movies are about taking the most iconic aspects of the characters, and there's nothing more iconic than the beloved classic design of the Spidey-costume
