The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" - Part 5

I don't rule out the possibility that the studio premiered a teaser so early partially to give fans time to get used to the suit. It worked on me, for what it's worth.

I like the new suit. The colors are especially fantastic.

My main problems with the suit (beyond "if it ain't broke, don't fix it") are as follows.

The belt doesn't wrap around enough to the front, making the tapering of the red area in front look weird.
Why does the web pattern just become vertical lines in some places?
The racing stripes on the pants and the shoes make Spider-Man look like some jogger *******, not a superhero.
The back spider is too small for its purpose of taking up the negative space on the back.
Why are there black lines on the blue areas?
And many more.

Everything you just said doesn't bother me at all.

Except maybe the back spider, it should be thicker at least.

^Agreed. It's just the back spider I wish was a little bigger/thicker.

What's the difference between the striped legs and the classic striped arms? I admit the addition was jarring, but if anything it made the entire suit more uniform with its design implementations.

You actually have a point.

My problem with the striped legs is that, in tandem with the shoes, makes Spider-Man look like he's jogging, not kicking ass and cracking wise.

I don't see how. I've never seen a jogger that looked anything like the new Spider-Man suit.

There was a time I saw a guy jogging dressed in a Spider-Man suit spraying kids with silly-string, but that's a different story.

I'm not entirely sure how that has to do with his personality and behavior. I assume you're making the comparisons to Adidas sweatpants. While the similarities are there, we have to judge the suit on its own merits. Because looking at the design as a whole, it absolutely does look like a superhero more than anything.

Again, if we can accept the completely random arm stripes, it shouldn't be very hard to consider the same implementation on his legs would serve the very same purpose (if any).

The stripes on the arm continue the web pattern from the torso onto the gloves. The stripes on the legs of this costume are just vertical lines on the legs.

Well, the stripes continue the blank, webless streak from his belt to the tip of his boots.

I wish people would stop talking about the shoes. It's getting annoying. It's a tiny silver strip which chances are, you're not even going to notice! He's not going to be going for a brisk walk.

He's going to be zipping around the screen. Bouncing from rooftops, swinging at high speeds... you won't even know they're there. :funny:

...which continue onto the boots.

The only real design confusion lies in the "unfinished" torso/belt area. I can completely sympathize with those that hate how incomplete it looks by being so bare.

And thus, look stupid and pointless.

If they aren't going to be noticeable most of the time, why did the costume designers waste their time and money putting them there?

Which makes the suit look horrible, like halfway through putting the webs on the suit they said, "Eh, **** it. This webbing is too time-consuming to put on."

They said that they made those design choices (thin arm segment, lines on the bottom of his torso, thin leg stripes) because they make Spider-Man look slimmer. That's it. And it does make him look slimmer.

It makes the suit look half-assed.
