i dont think it will be Bad from the story , but a boxoffice success is never gurantated
waiting til May 20 for the New Trailer will be a Hard Time
I wonder... If the movie is bad, like really, REALLY bad, and it underperforms (which at this point seems likely to happen even if it's good due to the hack job Paramount has done with the marketing), will this be the end of Trek for a while? I know the old series had a number of duds and yet they kept making movies, but that was a different time and people were attached to that cast because they'd been watching them for decades. I know people like this cast but they've only been in two films (and only one of them was good, IMO) so I doubt there is as strong of an attachment. Additionally, now that Star Wars is back (and good again), it feels like Trek is playing second fiddle to it again. This of course wasn't helped by the fact that Abrams jumped ship to do SW.
I honestly don't think there will be a fourth film.
The first film has a crap script but Abrams and cast made the film borderline great. If Wrath of Kahn Too did taint it then that is a goddamn shame.
I really think 'Into Darkness' tainted the goodwill the first one has. People have forgotten how well liked the first JJ one was.
Anyone else besides me actually love ST09 and SITD?
I liked Into Darkness and I hope Paramount will do a fourth/fifth one after Beyond is released.
And if Beyond is a critical failure, they could redeem the series by hiring a better director and writing team or better yet, bring back JJ Abrams to the director's chair.
