People thought it would compete with Endgame. It's barely keeping up with Captain Marvel.

I figured some would blame TLJ for TROS underperforming but this is all on JJ and crew. The people who hated TLJ wanted him to come back and give you more of the same. He did, and it was bad.
And others are petty enough to buy several tickets just to make sure TROS ends up grossing more. It's the writing. That's the problem.Nah. A lot of the people that hated tlj gave up on the trilogy like me. We haven't gone to see ep 9.

I have no idea how those who hated TLJ reacted to ROTS. I do know how one person who like TLJ reacted to weeks of reports that the film crapped all over TLJ. Which appear to have been accurate.
I haven’t seen it. I probably will, but I’m in no rush.
Star Wars social media is lot more pleasant this time around. Virtually every comment on the movie is positive. First 2 weeks:

* MPAA Reports: "Comscore/Screen Engine's 'PostTrak' collects domestic survey data for all films in release in at least 800 theaters, which links box office grosses to gender and ethnicity of attendees. The surveys are conducted during the first two weeks of a film's wide release."
percentage values in table may not sum to 100 percent due to rounding

The arrogant assumption by many was these fans were going to buy tickets anyway. I never understood why so many people thought fans were that blind in their devotion to Star Wars. Frankly, the message sent now is loud and clear.
