Most directors who have made comic book films don't have a singular aesthetic style, other than old Tim.Eh, it was all right. He doesn't strike me as having a trademark style.
I would. He is one of the most visually oriented directors in Hollywood. His style is instantly recognizable. I need to see only a single shot to tell that it's a Mann film.Even though I think most directors have a little bit of their own style (not hyper style like Malick or Burton...I would not put Mann there that's for sure).
Other than the dynamic between Dat Fass and McAvoy I ****ing agree with you.

No to what? Miami Vice is probably his most visual movie, whether you like the film or not. It's Mann boiled down to his very essence. In fact, this century has seen Michael Mann dropping conceits of classical narrative storytelling and become a visualist interested more in mood and style. Sort of like Malick; except where Malick is interested in framing man against the grace of nature, Mann is interested in framing man against the oppression of structures.Im a Mann fan I didn't like his last two films. Unless we can get 'Heat' Mann instead of 'Public Enemies' or 'Miami Vice (film)" Mann, I'm going to have to say no.

Oh I see. You think I want Mann to direct this. My first post regarding Mann, which was in response to somebody else about something else entirely:And my oppression of structures says nay to Mann, little lamb!

We've hardly had a Michael Mann or a Terrence Malick direct these films.
No Mann, please.
I honestly don't rate Vaughn very highly. I don't think he really did anything special with First Class.

We must keep in mind that he had a ridiculously short amount of prep time to do First Class. So, I'd say he did a great job.
I don't deny Vaughn did a great job with the little time he was given. I mean 10 months to do a film and it turned out to be that good? Sure it was good. It just didn't impress me like it did other people. I still prefer X1 and X2.
